Trahern's answer seems witty enough (and fits), but I would like to hear why my answer doesn't work... Or is it just not the answer that you've heard?
-
Again, I already know the 'right' answer, and I didn't find it by myself. Being completely obsessed with riddles isn't good sometimes.
Fixed that for you.
The answer is:
her brother-in-law. They had no need to exchange numbers because the woman already knew it, and when faced with mortality in the form of her mother's death the woman snapped and offed her sister to free up the man of her dreams-- her sister's husband.

I've reached a point in Chapter II that is under construction. While I'm really excited to see where the story goes at this point (and what cool stuff I get), I'm also a little upset that I'm not moving ahead day-to-day like my compatriots. I was in a race with freakidz and now I'm losing! ;-)
My question: any indication of when the story will move on from here? I searched the forum for Under Construction and found nothing (lots of "under"; no "construction").

I am most often 6-4-3 and 4-6-3. Sometimes I am 5-4-3, 3-6-4, 3-6-3, and several others. I am never 5-6-3. Why, and what am I?
lol that's a sweet riddle, phlegm. i'll message you the answer in-game because i'm betting none of these nerds get it... especially not MB ;-)

Chewett, I assume you are asking me.
I did not do anything. Prior to May 29th (when I made my "me too!" post above) I had been experiencing this issue at all times. I upgraded to Firefox 3 Beta 5_r4 before that date and was still experiencing this issue.
I was on vacation between June 5th and June 9th. While on vacation I was playing a little bit on my friend's Ubuntu install. I do not know which version of Firefox he is using, but that is when I first noticed that the bug had been fixed. When I returned home and played on my system again, I was unable to replicate the bug.
At no time did I upgrade or re-install my Flash player.

I am no longer experiencing this issue using Firefox on Gentoo Linux.

Everyone's heads have NOT reset to 0! MRG is at Fenth's Press, and was showing 19 heads until just a moment ago, when I beat him and took a head.
MRG, if you see this, I'm more than willing to help you get a victory to balance that one out-- I just wanted to see if the no-sanctuary rule still applied ;-)

Yoric while its natural to want to win as much as possible with the current system those losses will help you a lot espcially when you get to MP5 while wins are not good for anything now expect the MP3 to MP4 advancement and maybe showing off.
I am playing the game under the ongoing impression that balance is something to strive for, given that that is the entire unique selling point of this game. Note I said "balance" and not "a massive ratio of wins to losses." Therefore, maintaining a balanced profile is one of my goals. I believe that at some point the system will be updated so that balance is again more important than logging losses until one has 5k honor (I've been right around there for several days now--entirely unintentionally).
The fact is that under the current system balance is not only not possible (or at least very difficult) its not desirable since as long as you have a lot more loses then some other player you can get a better Xp bonus then a balanced player ever could and you still get wins for your ceatures from just win attacks (not victories).I'm well aware of the added xp bonus, and have been enjoying its effects on my creatures. Yet I cannot help but be concerned about how balance will be returned to MagicDuel, and how that return will affect my situation.
-
metal bunny... you praise the fact that you aren't balanced?!?!? The object was uspposed to be so people would be more balanced and not have soo many wins, and for that the new way served its purpose.... too well i'm afraid.
My private hypothesis has been that this system was created for the older mp5s, and that it completely ignored the situation of the lower level players. You say that the object of the update was to make profiles more balanced--> I've struggled to balance my profile since my introduction to the game, and I've almost always had more losses than wins. In the days before the update I was maintaining my w-l record. Now, I have twice as many losses as I have wins.
As has been noted in other threads, if balance is the goal, this system is mathematically doomed to fail.

Another question about Stage 2-- The rules say
"When one player in each group reaches a certain amount of heads, stage II of the contest comes in."
Does this mean that all groups will begin Stage 2 at the same time? Or that each group will move to Stage 2 when one of the people in that group has >5000 points?

@MB-- Oh, sorry for the double posting. And you're right about the sexytime:
Both condoms at once for the first woman. Take off the outer condom for the second woman. Put the outer condom back on, inside out, for the third woman. Obviously IRL what you'd end up with is a lot of broken condoms, but hey! It's sex!
I'm sorry that I doubted you; I was so unfair.

The timer problem is a common one. The way to get it back on track is to reload your browser window-- probably a good idea when you're going to build up VP through sacrificing creatures or getting the free credits.
I have no idea why you wouldn't get VP for clicking the links, though...

@MB's sexytime riddle--
This one isn't possible. The common formulation of the riddle is if the man is healthy (and knows he is), what can he do with three women and two condoms. The answer is to wear one condom for the first woman, then the second condom for the second woman, and then put the first condom inside-out over the second condom for the third woman. The reason this doesn't work if the man may have an STD (an unknown STD) is that some STDs remain alive in seminal fluid for quite some time, and the third woman will be exposed to seminal fluid.
Another formulation would be to take the STDs out of the picture and have them avoid an unwanted pregnancy, three women, two condoms, vaginal intercourse only. The answer is similar.

@Metal Bunny's paragraph riddle--
I guessed the answer about halfway through and skimmed the rest to make sure ;-) I'm pretty sure I've seen something like that before, though.
Also @MB-- I think the word you were looking for in your
shadow
riddle was "baleful".
@Rendril re: marble riddle--
The main point here is that *all* of the labels are now wrong, so you know that you're going to have to switch *all* of them. You choose the box that is now labelled "Black & White" and pull a marble out of that. If the marble is white, you know that that box has two white marbles in it because the label must be wrong. Therefore, the box labelled "White & White" contains two black marbles (because if it contained a black and a white marble, you'd only be switching two labels), and the box labelled "Black & Black" has a black and a white marble. I can give a more detailed answer if necessary ;-)

OS = Operating System. I'm guessing XP?
These pieces of information (browser and OS) are necessary for the developers when you talk about browser rendering issues.
-
That's a good point. When the game is no longer Alpha, then, perhaps fair warning...?
-
Sorry for posting the bug here but... it seems that I don't have any patience with the new forum.
I have tried to post a new topic but the page is so huge that I cannot write in it. It is not height, but rather length that is the problem. It is so huge that, using the mouse, I can't find the beginning or the end of the box in which to write. Using the arrows would take me hours, and whatever I do I cannot find the topic name box or the post button.
I don't know what it is, but everything in the forum seems fine, except for this problem. I hope it will be fixed.

Thrall, what is your browser and OS?

Updating in the middle of the contest without warning (and while certain people with heads are idle in a sanctuary) is not particularly fair either. Perhaps for future updates to integral parts of the game (for example, the win/victory change...) you could announce that the change will be happening at a certain point in the future. Server time, or GMT, could be used to designate when the update will occur.
Very few sour grapes from me on this one since I'm so far behind in the contest already, but still-- I was really happy to have any heads at all!
-
All of the enemy's forces had ~20 life, but apparently life stealing doesn't do anything if the creatures have that little health? I should've had 60 heads!!!

Hi,
I have the same problem and I also use Linux. I even tried IE6 and IE7 under Linux (with Wine) and it is the same. So, I guess it has something to do with Linux but I don't know what.
I have the same problem, using Firefox on a Gentoo Linux install. Also no idea what the issue is.
Riddle me this,
in General Forum
Posted
I guess the main point that I would like to get across is that a lot of the "riddles" posted here are more like guessing games. No offense, MB^H^H Morgana Le Fey, but same goes for your in-game "riddle." A question is asked, and there could be many possible answers due to imprecise language. It all turns into Bilbo Baggins asking "What have I got in my pocket?"-- The guesser knows several things about the answer (ie, it's something that fits in a pocket, it isn't too heavy for a hobbit to carry it) but nothing in the question is precise enough to narrow the possibilities. This leaves the door wide open for me to tell a story about how
There's nothing in the riddle to rule this out, except that you've heard the only answer that you'll accept-- you know what you have in your pocket.
Again, I will agree that Trahern's answer is wittier, but there is nothing in the riddle that necessitates that his is the only possible answer.
