Greetings everybody!
 
This year MD Birthday is going to be organized by the members of the Kings Council (KC in short): Maebius, Lintara, *Syrian*, Kyphis, Menhir, *Grido*, Azull, Jubaris, No one, darkraptor and Dark Demon. The Birthday festival will start on 14th of April and will last 11 days.
 
All members of the Council can go directly to Chewett to request anything needed for the days (rewards, tools for quest creators, spells/tools for organization and etc).
 
We encourage the involvement of the community in the festival. You can get involved by creating quests, hosting events or doing something entertaining or fun as well as actively participating in quests and events being held. If you are planning a quest or an event during one of the festival days, simply contact one of the members of the Kings Council, state your intentions and request from them any tools or rewards you might need. They will get you scheduled in our official calendar and will pass on any requests you have to Chewett.

I apparently spend too much time on Pinterest and Tumblr. For no good reason, I felt the need to make bad MD valentines real fast and share them. And then I had the very bad thought that others may also want to make and share MD valentines.

Due to poor planning* my cake collapsed when removed from the baking dish. Aside from that it went pretty well. Photos soon.

The cake consists of, from bottom to top:
A 100% Vegan chocolate cake (hahaha, it may seem pointeless considering the other segments of cake, but it is seriously the most delicious thing I have ever tasted)
Homemade Honeycomb (softcrack)
Blackforest Cheesecake
Homemade Jam (mixed berries, mostly raspberry)
Cherries, to write out "9"
Cherry Sauce thickened to be a Jelly Glaze.
 
To accompany, my wife also made a 6 layer jelly (she actually made quite a few, one dish for everyone and the giant one to be hacked apart with the cake)
 
Between the five of us we consumed all but the last pieces in 30 minutes :P
 
Poor planning: I was using the pan my wife uses for cakes, instead of the dish that I normally use. I neglected to plan for getting the cake out of the dish after assembly, as my dish does not have any issues no matter the cake size. My wife just laughed at me when my mistake was realized. It was still delicious though.

Hello and welcome to the first Y9 Anniversary Quest from the MDA!
 
Your task is to write two reports on the various events occurring over the anniversary - One a factual report, and one in a creative writing style of your choice (poem, first person narrative, meme pics, etc).
You may enter as many entries as you like in either category, but to compete you must enter at least once in both.
Entries can be submitted however you wish (except in-game chat, haha), but Forum PM is the best method.
 
As this quest spans the entire Anniversary from start to finish, you will have until Day 115 begins to get your entries in. Chewett has suggested this quest continue for the time being. For now, there is no timelimit, however it will not run forever. The quest is now concluded.
 
Judging criteria is as follows:
Accuracy - did the events described happen? Well Written - grammar, spelling, paragraph breaks, etc Engaging - how well it grabs our attention, is it funny, is it exciting, etc Length - is it a suitable length for a newspaper article? Too short/long? Three winners are going to be chosen from each category. You may not win a category twice, but you can win both the Factual Report and Creative Writing categories.
 
Lastly, after the Anniversary ends, participants will be asked if they want their entries used in a new edition of the Golden Globe Gazette.

The rewards have been boosted to a number of anniversary arramors, and some spelldocs, morphs, and other things. Will be split depending on effort of participants.

On day 103 (Mon Apr 14), I will use your help to unravel a mystery...
The event will take place in chat, at the Howling Gates, starting at 10.30 s.t. and lasting until someone solves it (depending on the participation, this may take a few hours to a few days).
 
I will read 3 small excerpts from a tale (its beginning, a middle part and its ending) and you'll have to figure out what happened in between said parts. 
You can ask me (in chat, all PMs will be ignored) any and as many questions as you like, to which I can only answer 'yes', 'no' or 'irrelevant'. Note: I must answer all the questions and I can't lie.
 
The 3 excerpts will also be disclosed on this thread for reference, together with the most interesting/relevant questions.
Therefore, even if you can't be there at the beginning of the event, you should be able to catch up.
 
Scoring and winners:
 
The first one figuring out the whole story will have to state it in chat to be declared winner (1st place).
You obviously don't have to write a novel, a brief summary will do it (the whole tale can be summed up in 2-3 lines).
 
Besides that, you can contribute to the solution by asking significant/meaningful questions.
I will in fact assign 1 point for each and every question leading to a key/turning point.
Said points will define the scoring for those placed from 2nd to 5th.

In the MD birthday we look forward to our future, and back to our past. Loreroot has had a very colourful history full of leaders, rebellions and alliances rising and falling. We should remember our friends, and this first day is to do so.

The first days quest is to write or draw a piece of history, pick someone, an event, an alliance, anything and write or draw an image to show what it was, how it was historic or to teach someone about it.


Requirements:
Writing must be less than 500 words
Drawings must be uploaded to storenow
Writing must be posted somewhere
Submission must be on a forum topic (art and writing) or md-archives blogpost (art and writing) or storenow link (art)
Once its posted, ONE post should be made here stating your entry and the link to it.
This ends on sunday, results announced mon/tue

Bonus Points:
Drawing and writing (no matter how bad) gets bonus points
Uploading to md-archives new website gets bonus points (to upload to new md-archives site, talk to innocence and get them to help you upload.

Many people claim that quests degrade to popularity contests when it comes to votings, elections, or other kind of public opinions.
 
Therefore, this birthday i will run an actual popularity contest to give away some freebies! :))
 
The game is very simple: You have until the end of the birthday celebrations to get as many PL entries saying 'I deserve a Drachorn Charm' [or similar, you get the idea] as possible!
You can trade, bribe, beg, call in favors or make new friends who actually want you to get free stuff, whatever crosses your mind counts.
 
However, it might backfire if you run around and mindlessly ask for pl entries, because people can reduce your score by giving you an entry saying 'I don't deserve a drachorn charm' [or similar] :D
 
 
The best few will be rewarded depending on the number of entries they can present at the end of it all. If participation sucks, there'll just be coins and maybe some creatures, but if you get a nice, big number, there might easily be a creature from my collection in for you, or even something from the famous Drachorn's Lair! If you're under 360 active days, that is. This game is just too simple for a veteran to win a drach charm in. ;)
 
I'll check the participants if there are too many votes from alt accounts on them and might kick them out of the rewards list if there are too many non-unique votes. I'll not be overly harsh on that, but i expect participants to play fair.

It’s birthday time! And in order to make the party even funnier, we the Caretakers are hosting a Birthday Cake Contest! Ready your recipes! Let your imagination principle go wild!
 
For this contest, you must bake a real cake (real as in RL) for MD’s birthday!
 
Rules: Photos of the entire cooking process (from the ingredients to the finished cake) must be taken with MD and your playername written somewhere on the photo (If you manage to have the letters on your cake, even better!) and posted here on this topic. The cake with most reputation “ups” win! (or we can open up a vote if you guys prefer).
There’s no restriction on the kind of cake you can bake and details you can put into it (you can go for one as big and fancy as a wedding cake – MD sure deserves it :D )!
 
Rewards: Rewards will be given based on # of participants and effort put into baking the cakes. This quest has council’s approval, so rewards should be fancy! Also, we’ll all be eating the winning cake (and the others too) during the birthday! Woot!
