Sementivae: a two-day festival, with seven days in-between the two festive days. First day was to honor Terra Mater, Mother Earth, and the second one was for Ceres, the Goddess of agriculture. The weather in the south was so warm already in January that the first sowing of wheat and millet could be done. During the festivities, prayers for the crops were made against diseases, birds and pests, the bulls used for sowing were decorated with wreaths of flowers, and gods were offered bread and a pregnant sow.
