   Ancient Rome: Mt. Vesuvius erupts, burying Pompeii and a few other Roman cities Ancient Rome: Mundus patet Hindu: Ganesh Chaturthi Day 2 Hindu: Rishi Panchami Mundus patet is a festival involving the dead.  It is generally celebrated with a feast, and falls around the harvest time. 
   Rishi Panchami is where all the sins of the women are forgiven.  The women bathe in red mud gained from the roots of the sacred datiwan bush.
