I wanted to ask why I have bad luck with trading. My trading stat is negative, which prevents me from "buying" better items. I thought it could do something with the principles I chose, but then again why would principles give negative stats? Just something I would like to know, thank you for any incite.

your principles have nothing to do with your trading value

some parts of story mode will give you negative tradesense, you will just need to train it up so you can get it higher/into positive.
