What is/was the DoF?

I've seen it mentioned many times but nobody has ever properly explained to me what exactly goes on during the DoF.

I know i'm not a mod and all, but I don't think something small as this needs to be posted in the forum. There's a forum search. There are in game lhos, veteran players, relatively older players. 1 pm to them would suffice really. Please try to do that next time instead of directly posting here. If you do not get any response or if you feel the question needs answers from majority of MD population or if there is something you want to let other people know, that would be the best time to post on the forum.
