I recommend that the buttons "delete" "view outgoing" etc be move out side of the scrolling region. Having scrolled to the messages I want to delete, I should not then have to scroll back to find the buttons. This would require reducing the height of the scroll area, by one or two entries.

Alternatively, the buttons could be place at the top on the right side of the window, above the sorting cloud or where it would be if purchased. I believe this is the way this is handled in the outgoing messages area (I don't recall a problem, but cannot visualize it.)

I agree, that is a pain in my butt. Or rather than putting the buttons on the side, put them once again at the bottom of the mail list.

errm, shouldnt this be in the New Ideas bit of the forum?

and that sounds like a good idea, though i dont really delete messages, i'm a hoarder
