Ratsplat Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I had played the game for about 99 active days and got to mp5, then i stopped playing for some reason. Now, i return and there seems to be so much new stuff i dont even know where to begin. Before i had stopped playing, i kind of started making my role, but i never really got into it. I seem to just wander around randomly, attacking people who i think i can beat (my fights are balanced too). Before I left, there seemed to be more mp5s that were at my level, but now it seems like im the weakest mp5 out there and there isnt anyone i can win against, especially when my VP is at 0 all the time trying to revive my creatures. I guess my questions are, how can i develope my role better and get involved in the game, and how to be better at battles when everyone has 100m+ more exp than me.
apophys Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Welcome back. I remember seeing your name. Don't worry, there will always be mp5s you can beat; you just have to search a bit. Some of the weaker mp5s have single tree defenses, for example. I recommend you get a protector to help you in battle via spellcasting. Have fun.
Mya Celestia Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Maybe a mentor to help get you acclamated to the game again. Someone to help you get your barings and get on track.
Tarquinus Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Ask people for simple wins or even XP. You might be surprised by how many people are willing to help you. Make some friends and start battle circles. Challenge people to thematic or specifically-ruled duels (e.g. all aramors, no tokens, one creature, etc) and test your tactical savvy. Try attacking No one (the player), who lets his rituals default to random, just to see what you can learn. Be sure to check the Public Logs panel to see what is on offer at Burns's Fight Club, which focuses on tactical ability. You may lose, but you will learn. And you will get stronger. Also remember that even though there are tokened monstrosities running around, the era of the uber-killer ritual is fading. Think back on old tactics and try them again; though I am used to losing a lot, I am surprised by how often a really simple ritual performs well and even wins. Also experiment with creatures whose abilities have improved, such as the Loreroot archer. As for your role, find an area of the game you care about and nurture your caring to passion. This can take time, so don't worry if nothing leaps out at you. You'll find your place. We all started somewhere, and many well-developed roles are running around without ultimate combat dominance... and of those who have such dominance, most will be inclined to set rituals or cast spells to help you. Welcome back. Stick around. MD gets cooler all the time, and just when you think you've got it pegged, things change.
Ratsplat Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 I think my main problem is that im not social enough. i dont think ive ever written anything into the live chat box before. Asking people if i can fight them and stuff is probably what im going to have to do.
Darigan Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 If you need a protector to help with casting spells. I am mp6 and always looking for adepts and worshipers I have various spells heals and attack and defense boosts and I'm usually hanging around the park. Don't be afraid to speak up
