Yoshi Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) So as far back as I remember I wanted to own an ocarina, so the other day I pre-ordered one. I didn't want to spend a lot on something I might get bored with so I decided to pick this one: http://www.songbirdocarina.com/plastic-ocarinas?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=103&category_id=32 I'm now curious as to if anyone here has an ocarina, which exactly they have, and if they did or are learning about playing one. When deciding on the one I wanted first, my friend suggested the Ocarina of Time: http://www.songbirdocarina.com/zelda-ocarinas?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=34&category_id=13 But the mouthpiece looks weird to me... :/ I was thinking after wards if I get into it, I might get a dragon tooth one: http://www.songbirdocarina.com/dragon-tooth-ocarina I also ordered this: http://www.songbirdocarina.com/songbooks?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=91&category_id=16 And I apparently am now obligated to learn every one of these songs... can't wait Edited January 27, 2011 by Yoshi Quote
(Zl-eye-f)-nea Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I play the Ocarina. Mine is very small, more akin (but smaller than) to this one:Small Ocarina I grew up learning tin whistle, so it wasn't very difficult to learn for me - and I like high pitches. The small stature means I can carry it on a leather thong and play whenever I feel like it. The deeper tones of the larger versions are very nice though. Once you have the basics, adding in the embelishments is the most fun. Z Quote
Yoshi Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Yeah, I love the sound of the Alto C, not too high, not too low, the higher pitched ones hurt my ears... I have sensitive ears Quote
Kyphis the Bard Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I'd play Ocarina (Zelda Nerd ftw), but Mel hates them. adiomino and Watcher 1 1 Quote
Yoshi Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 So I just received the green ocarina, yay, already learned the scale by heart, and going to be learning the Song of Time so that I can learn songs, and then travel back in time to not waste time learning them Quote
apophys Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Maybe you can try to play this song eventually. Quote
Yoshi Posted February 12, 2011 Author Report Posted February 12, 2011 I would, but I'd need a triple ocarina, which I don't have at the moment Quote
