you just can't use special characters, including spaces or words with 3 letters or less. You'd have to search for a character you know posted in a specific thread regarding your topic, like Pipstickz said. Or you could search for the keywords white or lake.

have you tried to search for "white" or "lake"? i can't find the topic i need... and yes, i'm doing the same - looking for the person who (i guess) posted the info, and going through his/her posts. but c'mon... not always you know who posted some info... lets say, i want to search some general info, not connected to any person. for example "search bugs", and i can't find it. that's just an example, maybe it doesn't exist, but there are many examples which simply don't work. another example: how am i supposed to know if the topic or theme i am creating already exists and mine is redundant? how newbies should search through the forums for some common info like kings, alliances, lands, creatures, etc., when you simply can't do it correctly (well, in most cases)?

thanks for the ideas, guys, they might be really helpful to many of those reading forums. Paracelsus idea is really great, sort of issue solver (try it and look how many topics it finds in the forums) - thanks again. but anyways, i think forum search should not only search, it should also find something, like google does.

I've found that myself, and that unless you go into the "advanced Search" little gear-icon, the default search does not seem to like phrases of words at all.

An example, wanting to know the prices for Heat Stones, I type in "Heat Stones" and press enter. Zero results.

Searching for the word "Heat" by itself brings up a longer list of forum threads. Luckily the one on Stones is near the top

I found it pretty non-intuitive that the default search, even using quotes, would not locate this link from the search term "heat stones" since the words searched for appears directly in the title and also inthe content itself.

So now I just add that extra click to fill out advanced search options, or limit my searching to single words.

You can just use the "search" link at the top of the game interface, which searches in all MD, including forum, archives, personal pages, and lets you use any word you want, since it's Google-powered. I've been using it exclusively for a couple months now, and it works pretty well.

I would have bet money that you DIDNT select the correct options in the search box.

At the top, There is the search box, And the location you are searching in. Unless you select the full forum, it will only search part of the place.

I searched "heat stones" just as you did, and what a surprise, i got that topic you linked, which according to doesn't appear when you type exactly the same in.

TL;DR; click "forums" instead of searching in "this forum" or "this topic" because otherwise you dont find what you want

Darn new forum popup tooltip optiony thingy....
For some reason, that light grey just doesn't register in my brain as a button. I'd not noticed that was a "hover over it to change" since there was not the usual dropdown-style arrow, and glazed over the grey font itself. ARGH!

Changing it makes searches so much better, and my example is working properly for entire phrases now.
(I bet it's been set to the wrong setting for me since the upgrade, ARGH!)

This is the Topic you are looking for:

I found it from Mya's content.... and it is odd indeed that white lake cannot be found through the search option.

i found it before i created this topic. the thing is - i hate the way i need to do this. what is this inner forum search for? i know it isn't working as intended, but new players might think there's no info about one thing or another, and it is confusing... *shrugs* anyways, i got two solid solutions for my needs already, and i informed authorities about the issue. topic can be closed. thank you :)
