When it comes to quantum physics many things are at the border, thats the place where abstract and concrete are interconnected. I can't say they are the same thing, but in general you can find manifestations of a principle in various forms, from physics and even to philosophy. A closer similarity would be with things like voodoo :) .. but there is the same "issue" , if you digg deeper into how it works, you will probably end up to some weird physical phenomena , maybe the one you mentioned.
