Citizenship

It's interesting to see how a question about clearing the "citizenship" concept turned into a debate about various concepts: citizen (obvious); alliances and guilds.

To help the debate perhaps one should start from the definition of the terms:

Guild: a formal association of people with similar interests; a similar association, as of merchants or artisans, in medieval times; an association of persons of the same trade or pursuits, formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards;

Alliance: a connection based on kinship or marriage or common interest; usually created by treaty but often later adopting a common constitution, alliances tend to be established for dealing with critical issues such as defense, foreign affairs, or a common currency, with the central government being required to provide support for all members;

Citizen: A resident of any particular place to which the subject feels to belong; person that is a legally recognized as a member of a state, with associated rights and obligations.

Well, my opinion (as a new man in MD realm) reading all of these valid opinions is that when someone decides to be a citizen of a land, it must be beacause that specific land is the one you feel most confortable being in. I consider it to be a more passive role in the overall scheme of MD realm.

On the other hand, joining an alliance is when someone whants to have a more active role in the realm of the feelings towards a specific land make him (or her) to participate more.

To conclude, I must agree with all the ones who stated that being a citizen of a land and join an alliance of another land would cause conflicts of interests (the player, land and alliance).
