ChildOfTheSoul Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) You asked me to post here for my opinion, so here I am. I like the idea of a casino in Wind's Sanctuary. When playing for the hour and a half or so that we did, I mostly played blackjack. The other two games; Hit or Miss and Let's Get Lucky seemed to be games with low odds but high pay offs. I don't know how often a person would win them, but they seem pretty balanced in that they would generate easy revenue for the house and occasionally give someone a handful of silver. I never liked games like that so I played 21 because it had an element of strategy rather than random guessing. I enjoyed it when I was winning, and I still enjoyed it at the end, at which point I was in the negative. I'll probably play again and it seems like a fun (mini)game to play on occasion if you continue to make these games publicly available in the future. While I realize that these games are angled towards winning the house money, it doesn't bother me that they exist or that they may end up taking an MD resident's life savings in coin. In the future, I'll probably play the money free version, because Seigheart has magic hands. Edited September 7, 2011 by ChildOfTheSoul Seigheart and Chewett 1 1
Seigheart Posted September 7, 2011 Author Report Posted September 7, 2011 Oh come on now Child. You'll play the money verson again. You had me going for 7 silver at one point. I was about to say that's enough, but I didn't want to be unfair. After all, it's only a few silver. I would gladly loose that again for the fun I had while playing with you. As for the other games, Hit or Miss is the most likely to return your silver, but its tilted slightly towards house. Let's Get Lucky, well, the pay off is HUGE, but the odds are a bit lower. But don't be afraid! You just have to know when to quit. Child didn't, do you? Brulant and Chewett 1 1
ChildOfTheSoul Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 I am SO tempted to negative rep you. You have to be brave to lose as much money as I did. I also don't know where I'm going to come up with that fifth silver for neno.... and by "Hit or Miss is most likely to return your silver" he means Hit or Miss is most likely to return one out of two of the silver that you spent to play the game. lol.
MoM Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 not true CoTS, I took 7 silver from Seig... and I want to play more, but I can't seem to find him...
ChildOfTheSoul Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 I'm not badmouthing seig. If it seems like I am, I will happily remove my comment. I was just teasing and I have terrible luck. 21 was really fun and I'm aware that he doesn't cheat people. Sorry if I said something to the contrary that came off as serious.
Pothos Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Actualy under normal chance. The house will always come out ahead. That's the way most gambling games are run, 21 included. P.s. Hint, the house is supposed to be automated, hiting on anything under 16 when it comes to Blackjack.
ChildOfTheSoul Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 I was trying to be political, Pothos. and yes, there are some difference between Seig's and RL 21. The concept remains pretty much the same, however. I agree with you in that just because someone wins silver from the dealer doesn't mean that the games aren't angled in the dealer's favor.
Seigheart Posted September 12, 2011 Author Report Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) I've been busy for the past couple days, but I will be on around 0:00 daily at the Wind's Sanctuary. Any Casino game is built so that the dealer wins more often. Casino's don't run for free... Infact, I'm losing just as much as I am winning. Out of 132 games, I've won exactly 92. Yet, I am still breaking even because of the large amount of Blackjacks, and jackpot winners. Edited September 15, 2011 by dst
MoM Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 here's a good poker rule : "The odds are ALWAYS in the house's favor."
Kyphis the Bard Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I worked on designing a few games for a casino once... It was incredibly involved, and took a ridiculous amount of work, but basically if the house isn't getting an average guaranteed cut then they won't run the game. Anything which uses computers is rigged to force the house % (so you can win, but the house will always make its cut), games of real luck tend to be a lot harder to work with. Its why a lot of those games you pay the house to play, but beyond that you can only get money from the players, not the house. Although, blackjack is the most common example where the house will also play
MoM Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) guys, this isn't running too well. in the early hours, there is rarely anyone who has dice! don't you think there should be someone who does? Edited September 15, 2011 by MoM
Seigheart Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 I can play between 0:00 and 4am. Some days I can play earlier, or much later. It all depends. But normally between the stated times.
