Pipstickz Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) Currently when you re-read a battle log, it looks like this:
###### START ROUND "1" ###### Applying temporary effects for You, slot 1 : effect (round:1 effect: thisstat=-1630|from 1945 to 315; ) effect (round:0 effect: effect ended) Applying temporary effects for That Guy, slot 1 : effect (round:1 effect: thisstat=-1436|from 1069 to -367; ) weaken (round:0 weaken: effect ended) That Guy's Elemental V does steallife to multirandom creature(s) of You and: - Steallife power: 20% - steals 1278 vitality from Madhorn and gives it to Elemental V and remains with 5112 vitality You's Madhorn does damage to all creature(s) of That Guy and: - Elemental V receives 1404 damage and remains with 2046 vitality
Except much larger and more cumbersome, because there's generally more than 1 creature per person. What I suggest is that we see something like this:
###### START ROUND "1" ###### Applying temporary effects for You, slot 1 : effect (round:1 effect: thisstat=-1630|from 1945 to 315; ) effect (round:0 effect: effect ended) Applying temporary effects for That Guy, slot 1 : effect (round:1 effect: thisstat=-1436|from 1069 to -367; ) weaken (round:0 weaken: effect ended) That Guy's Elemental V does steallife to multirandom creature(s) of You and: - Steallife power: 20% - steals 1278 vitality from Madhorn and gives it to Elemental V and remains with 5112 vitality You's Madhorn does damage to all creature(s) of That Guy and: - Elemental V receives 1404 damageand remains with 2046 vitality
Colour-coding and bolding things allows for quicker reading, and spacing in between unrelated events makes for easier distinction between them. On the flip side, I know Mur and MD have a thing about colours, but I don't know if that extends to fight logs. What does everybody else think? Thanks, Burns, for the help adding the poll! Blood Prince Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I like this idea. I accidentally pressed the null vote button so could not vote (It should have been Yes for the first Q and no for the next). If its like having a color for each type of attack and crit separately it would be brilliant and easily identifiable. Quote
Fyrd Argentus Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I think more could be done even in black & white to make them more readable. Headline/Bold the beginning of each attack and indent the rest of the "paragraph". There are many different ways you could code the color - many of which would be non-intuitive to some players, and confusing. Blood Prince, Kaya, Luke27 and 3 others 5 1 Quote
Fire Starter Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 one UP for the Idea. Blood Prince and Watcher 1 1 Quote
Pipstickz Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 Then allow for customization of the logs, so each person can choose their own colour scheme. Blood Prince 1 Quote
ChildOfTheSoul Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 I love this idea so much. Being able to color code various battle logs might get a little complicated if customization is enabled, but I believe even a preset would significantly aid in deciphering what exactly happened in a battle.
