Credit Codes for MD Subscribers

Suggestion:
Credits currently have very little value to most older players, however, newer players get a lot of value out of credits.

In the past (very long time ago) it was possible to transfer credits. However, since this was easily abused in conjunction with the voting credits, this had to be removed.

We currently have payment options which allow people to directly send credits to people, which is useful for rewarding quests, however there are more efficient ways of getting credits for rewards (on a cash to credits basis). Sending Money through paypal or Western Union allows Mur to generate Credit codes for people on request. People can also request their credits turned into codes by Mur (although this is hard since you have to find Mur and convince him to spend time on it)

What I propose would allow the same level of value for creating credit codes, encourage people to become sponsors, and, while needing a bit of coding work at the start, reduce the work Mur ever needs to spend on credit codes.

I propose that people who subscribe to MD be given the option to generate credit codes upto the value of the credits their subscription rewards them within a given payment period.

Those who have subscriptions in the $5-$15 range would be able to generate codes for 1 or 5 credits, and those who have the a subscription of $20+ also be able to generate codes for 10 credits.

Every code generated costs an amount of credits equal to the codes value. The interface for this would ideally be located within the MD Shop.

In this way, only the credits gained through subscription, and never through voting, are able to be transferred. This would make it easier for older players to support quests without giving away things they might have an attachment to, easier for newer players to earn credits for things in the shop, and easier for people to find immediate sponsorship for quests. It will hopefully also encourage more people to sign up for subscriptions, generating more revenue to support MD.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the creation of credit codes is based on current subscriber level. So if you cancel your subscription you loose access to it again - not a "one time unlock"

this could be done with some adjustments.. i don't allow credit codes by default, but having a way to convert existing credits to codes, with certain requirements such as an active subscription, could be a useful thing. I need to talk with chew about this first. Generating codes is not hard, but could become a problem when codes get reset and people will start complaining they lost codes, for example. It also needs adjustments to admin so the auto generted credit codes will not clutter the current list, that is clear and tracked.

a solution in this direction, with many limits however, is needed.

finding a way to prevent one day subscriptions is however a higher priority due to abuse that is easy to do and is abnormaly punished ..while it should be limited by the interface somehow...but that an other story

Why not use items instead of codes for this? Give subscribers some kind of token every month which allows them them to store a certain number of credits in there. Make them non-transferable till they are charged and have them despawn after a certain amount of time. That should probably solve most of the issues with codes.

Interesting idea. If went that route it would be good if there was a separate despawn time for an empty one (say, three months) vs a filled one (say, twelve months beginning at the time it is filled).

If a filled one is "despawned" it could release the stored credit value into the credit pool of whoever is holding it, to prevent credits being lost like this.
