All the other lines seem satisfied Its only me and you guys who feel slighted, he sighed The other lines nodded and all went for a walk As they wandered the lands they looked around and they talked In this land the letters and symbols and things Corrections and doodles, errors and failings That we lazily rub out, ignore or reject All meet together to talk and reflect The lines saw some letters and so they complained About their usefulness and so they were blamed They saw some sketches and similarly cried out That their own lot in life was sure dull without doubt It was not until they met up with a cross And a multiplication creating a loss That they saw in those symbols a part of themselves So they got into pairs and they worked like small elves They toiled and eventually came to one conclusion That their lack of effect was just an illusion Caused by a short sighted lack of respect For helping each other in cause and effect In pairs at the middle they joined up together To create the symbols they had seen, and like birds of a feather They now could do twice what they could do before And not just in straight paths but they could rotate for sure But duplication was just not enough They felt that their brilliance could be stronger stuff So they joined once again and at the same time a pen Drew a thing we call an asterisk, comprised of all of them Now the straight lines were something entirely new With a purpose distinct, they were no longer blue They came out of the land and into our own And attached to each other were no longer alone And with a pride that cannot be matched They perform their tasks never to be detached As one they create, elate and inform Once separate and sad, now as one and reborn ~~~~ Z

Ok i'm starting to get somewhat aggravated now...14 posts other than mine and only one of them is a relevant submission. This isnt a dumping ground for random photos you like. Its a contest. There is a photo gallery if you want to display images you feel are beautiful or want approval over - and Talenclaws if you want to make your own mini contest then i'd appreciate it if you didn't paracite off someone else's contest (no matter how easy the question is). This is a living art contest, it isnt about special effects or camera capabilities either, which is WHY it is very simple to put MD in the picture. Either you get it...or you don't apparently. You may think you do, but you don't. If its too difficult to understand, then its quite simple, I will pull the contest as I've been known to do before. Let me know if that is the case. Z

Phantasm is quite right - and this is how you should be aiming to win. (If you wish to be really specific and split hairs though - I will say that Chew you are the exception that proves the rule so to speak and I will still count yours - however you must understand that what you did is a very rare case and is based entirely on whether I believe it truely is an original photo based on the evidence provided.) Amoran put it quite succinctly there. Basically you will find there are many different aspects to the game you can lock into, puzzles, philosophy, PVP, text based live action role play, and many many other things. If you feel really lost, start talking to people, or if you feel really really really lost then best thing you can do is get yourself a mentor of sorts. I know Sagewoman is good at this, MasterB too... as are many others. Im not around enough anymore to be that helpful live wise but you can PM me whenever you like or if im around then talk to me, im always at the path of lonliness. You should find most people, especially the veterans, very willing and happy to help you in any way that they can. Z

That first quote you used of mine, contrary to how you used it, was not used to say your analogy is imperfect...if you follow what I said you will see it is closer to the opposite, it only goes to show the system of systems. It is what you assume I mean by “designer” that is the issue here, not that I think there is one. You haven’t actually specified it, but by observer designer etc you seem to mean some sort of godly intelligent being. I don’t. The wind makes designs in the sand everyday…for example. You can put the system of systems into another clock...but you will have the same situation. Hence the infinite system of systems. (You say I’m making an assumption a greater or lesser system exists, that there is only the human system, but I already gave you an example…here’s another...we are in the world perpetuating it, it is part of the solar system the solar system is part of something else and so on and so forth vice versa affecting each other). A reductionist might say: “But what is the point of the systems? Isn’t that what would give the sort of purpose he is describing?” Well in my first post I already answered that. If the question is “what are the consequences of a being who truly lacks any meaning and purpose”….then my answer is, said being doesn’t exist. The point is Dojo had people revolt (including myself) due to the poor attitudes and actions of staff. We've gone over this a million times no need to try to defend it again and again and again. Sparring grounds was a move to new management and a change in style. There have always been issues with enforcing the rules as there still are, and the more people willing to enforce them the more people will resepct them...thats how it is enforced by the community. Not by moaning that nothing is being done but by actively getting involved yourself to help enforce the rules you want to be there. Shadow has done a good job with what he does, if you've ever seen him respond to a complaint about someone in SG you will know what I mean. The fact that people seem to think its all his responsibility and that people cant even be bothered to message him when there is an issue but then complain it isnt dealt with makes me laugh. Think of it this way - the buck stops with you. If that's too much responsibility for the vast majority of players, then you obviously don't want this SG/Dojo that much. If you do want it that much, then support the concept you seem to so want to work. There will always be people who don't follow your rules, and you will always have to defend the SG/Dojo way of life - that's community enforcement. Z

This is how I see it... To use your analogy: The clock itself, has hands so that someone can see what time it is but only when considered from the point of view of a pre-set idea of what a clock is. It's designer, creator, and observer is nothing more than a part of a greater system the clock is part of. Their relationship is mutually beneficial and only two cogs in a bigger system. In the same way, without having to go further, I think one must accept that the purpose is what you are, part of a system of systems. If there is some end finite purpose, we must accept it is too far away to see, or perhaps the systems are infinate. If I use the clock, then the prupose of this world and how it functions is in order to perpetuate it's existance for the system above it and so on and so forth...in a sense, this is the nature of faith and hope. That being said, without hands what you remove is the indicator of function for the system above, not the purpose of the clock, for essentially it would still tell time with a very simple addition. You see I said addition rather than repair there? Remove one of the cogs however and you have a totally different problem...then the system either somehow manages to fix itself or must be repaired in order to continue it's function in the larger system else it dies. (I the greater system am thankful for my muscles, my muscles may or may not be aware of how wonderful they truely are simply in virtue of their existance) In terms of what would happen to morality etc should the true belief spread that we have no real purpose...I feel that is a totally hypothetical question, because due to the above, so long as we function and exist, the purpose we have can lay in so many different aspects that to truely believe we have none is to believe that nothing we do makes any difference to any system at all no matter how much smaller or bigger than our own, when we see our actions have an effect every single day. There is a lot more to say on this to be fair, in terms of personal satisfaction with ones own perceived purpose, because just having a purpose doesn't necessarily mean you will have a positive emotional response to it, which means the systems work ..er...multi-laterally...or however you say it. Toten...far be it for me to assume anything from your very obviously pointed words but...it would appear you are accusing me of favoritism...even though I wasn't the only judge, and I take that as slander no matter how nicely you want to wrap it up. Like dst said, there was never any question you had the best lyrics, other than that, no. You had good lyrics and you just sang them, the winners did more than just that. They had videos, they dressed up, they did actions, they put emphasis where I asked it to be put, they stuck to the original song format, they had music...I could carry on. You won something, and yet here you are moaning you didnt get what you want. There are a million reasons the "public" voted your post green etc etc and it doesnt mean you were better than others. If you cant be bothered to PM me to find out why then I suppose you don't want to know and instead want to publically post something to get attention or to cause a public outcry on your behalf. As I said, bad form, not only that but now you want to carry it on.
