I am surprised on how you, the researchers and users of old lore, haven't found out who killed Marind yet . That says a lot about your skills, i guess...
And with the lack of skills comes ignorance. And to cover that you cling to something that gives you stability (although it is an apparent stability given by lack of information). So I guess I understand why everybody shouts that banning old lore was the worst move possible.
To be honest, until maybe a week ago I never have fully read the story. Or I did but in diagonal (skipping parts and reading few words in a phrase etc). That was of great help because I was not dragged into the "ancient lore hysteria".

Now, let it go. In 2 years that I have been playing I learned to trust Mur's decisions even if at first they seem chaotic, they make no sense, they seem unfair etc etc. Have some faith people!

Mhilael reacted to Yoshi in Yoshi's Memories
As some of you may know, Yoshi has been plagued by constant headaches for the last couple months or so, and today he had a particularly rough one. He was in the archives, where there's little sounds except for the flipping of pages, and suddenly he just collapsed. He was waking up spontaneously, shouting things about memories and such. It was mostly gibberish, but there was a sort of... organized chaos to it... mostly he was shouting about someone trying to kill him, and about someone replacing his memories of what had happened before his time in MD. There was also something about pink dragons... and then bacon... then more gibberish... then cake... anyways where was I... ah yes. Yoshi then fell into a deep sleep, and when lifting his eyelid, you could see his eye moving a mile a minute.

Those that were present deduced that he was in the process of dreaming. A wizard in training was there and sought to do some magic he was reading up on. In short, after much arguing over if he should do it or not between the several that were there, he went for it. He copied all of Yoshi's memories, his mind if you will, into a stack of blank books that were on the table. One of them that were there, said this was like reading someones diary, and that they shouldn't open it. Unfortunately, another had already opened the top book, and had begun to read it. Not too long after, when he tried to flip the page, it wouldn't budge. He tried ripping it, tried slicing it, nothing would work. The wizard in training laughed at his feeble attempts. He then explained that the mind has its own locks and keys, and when he copied the memories, they came with it. The only way is to figure out what the previous pages are trying to tell you. They then reread the pages, but could not for the life of them understand the word to unlock the next section.

They gave up on it, and told the wizard in training to just get rid of the books, as they could not unlock the rest. The wizard was obedient, but not in the way they thought. He didn't quite get rid of them. He took a piece of paper, placed it next to the stack of books, and merged them into one. They just saw the stacks disappear and were glad. He knew otherwise. This wizard in training is now looking for those who would like to attempt, to unlock the secrets, behind Yoshi's Memories. For the next week or two I will be taking names of those that post here stating that they would like to attempt to help. I will then sort everyone into groups of 3 and then give you further instruction. Good luck.

What I am about to say, is worth reading, even if it will be long, it clears a mystery at the very base of MagicDuel, a mystery guarded for years.

The answer to the question "Who killed Marind?", is something almost none of you knew. Some very smart figured it out but kept the secret and i thank them for that. When I had this story done for MD, by Adi, the one writing it, not even he knew who killed Marind. When initial project was done, you can't stop a writer with such a rich imagination such as his to continue writing and made up stories. This resulted in a wave of rumors and myths, all very damaging to how MD is built. Its not his fault at all, its the fault of those of you that could not let the questions STAY, for those that can handle them, and felt they should start ranting and bitching about how totally messed is MD and about how acient lore is broken and missing. Of course people ask, that was the point. You (and you know who you are) failed in understanding MD. First part of understanding MD is to respect its secrets and not share your stupidity and ignorance to others, amplifying their superficial belief that things are somehow wrong around here.
A new player, or even an old one, that did not bothered to much about the story, finds it easy to believe when he hears all your ranting and complaining and thinks its the way it is. That prevent some of the most beautiful minds around here to even atempt to understand MD, since they believe its nothing to understand after all.
Thank you for ruining the mechanism i tried to build..because in a way some questions without answer were part of that mechanism. MD worked fine untill you people shared your frustrations and incapacity to understand MD with the rest. Thank you for nothing.

- . - .--
What is the cube?
You all start in this fantasy world, MD, locked in a room with a spooky girls and some candles burning. Slowly you figure out the room is fully closed and that the girl is not a normal person. Eventually you exit that room, Marind takes you out of there and you enter MD world. You will notice Marind is now a ghost, and becomes more unreal as you move on in the story. Marind was very tangible in the room, in fact, in some story branches she can kill you too.
You find out if you know how to look, that you came out of a cube, and if you digg deeper into MD ,you find out everyone came from its own cube. Now i ask you, what is the cube?

The cube is the created bx around your soul and mind. It is not a natural construction, or it would have been a sphere. The cube is a symbol for borders, artificial borders. We all have our own cube we live in, be it the room we are in, the town , the closed group of friends, but most of all the borders of our own mind and understanding.
If that is our own cube, then who is marind? no one else could be in your own cube, except yourself! Marind is just a part of your self. In dream psichology for example, the little girl represents you the dreamer (I found that out later, its true). When you exit your cube, you have to kill some things in you, or they wont go well with the world outside. Childhood dies when you go out in the world, some misteries remain and other peoples worlds interfere.

You killed Marind. Each one of you. She doesnt even exist beyound your own cube borders. You seek to find her but slowly you loose her. The story never ends, it was never supposed to end. It has chapter 3, and a planed chapter 4, but it was never supposed to END. Marind dies and how can a ghost die other by forgetting her memory, getting her lost in the rants and the activity that follows after you exit your own cube...

The Carnival? you enter a world where others enter the same way, use your brain...

As you enter MD world, everything in MD becomes a mirror of yourself. Your fantasy world merges with the one of other people. You are not looking at an outside world but to a world within you. These symbols are not random thoughts that just sound nice. They are a clockwork of extreme perfection. The candles, the land weapons, the land balance, even the individual locations, they all make sense seen from this perspective.

Now you see why having any made-up ancient lore stories about who Marind was, is so fundamentally WRONG and damaging.Any bit of additional information on the past will ruin the clue that this world is not a fantasy world planed to be a fantasy world , but one that emerged from your fantasy and does not have and "Ancient Lore". Give it an ancient lore or made up stories about its past and you will alter its present meaning and unbalance all its symbols and its entire mechanism. Respect the question and the answer will respect you. Hurry with an answer and you will get just that, a fancy answer.

By what i said explaining this i killed a part of myself and a part of MD together with it. I dont expect those of you that made me do this to understand, but i expect the others to respect MD secrets more.

If you think i spoiled you the entire thing MD is about, you can't be more wrong. MD is more deeper than you can imagine, then the people working on it can suspect. If you care and know where to look, everything in MD is a intricate puzzle of logic and feeling. Even within this text i let you see more than one path towards other things to discover. MD is a private challange for each of one of you, but some of you just failed it.

This was the "show of force" in my own way.

Akasha , as always you are overreacting.People bond connections and it;s natural to talk in YiM this won;t affect MD at all. Ancient lore is important to MD but i agree is should stay ancient, and reseach on it should be avoided .This discussion only turns people attention on Ancient Lore.

On the beggining sorry for my English.

To be honest i will be rather considered as one of the new players in MD so i dont understand the whole problem I dont even know what ancient lore was. I dont wana to ask Mur or any of you not to reveal secrets or stop complaining - see no point in it. I see that you have a problem... But i will at last try to show you my own opinion in the subjest you started.

Mure - there will be always ppl complaining, looking for they own way to see the reality and irritating. You created the problem by yourself in the moment you went really mad and start the iscussion. It is always better to ignore idiots coz other way they will bring down to their own lvl and then bit you with their experiance. In this situation better to consider why not add some pleaces that will take players into story mode (other one then - when they are changing lvl) that would add some action in the game, and belive me some of them are just bored. The thought that players should create quest is nice but it does not dissolve. Not everyone can participate from diferent reasons and because this world does not have true history (i dont say it is bad) there is no variety in quest created by players. Every such game needs public quests even really small ones to push the story and to occupay players. Belive me they will stop irritate you if they will have something new to do. I write this as a player and game master in rpg systems - at last i have such experiances with players.

Ban those people that's looking at this not from murs point of view but ours. Murs personal point of view as he had to remind me once or twice in the past is that you can have open expression and open speech. His moral code has the simple result that he can only ban those who cause direct damage to the game community its self. This does not count as direct damage as marinids killer being revealed is collateral damage from those who wish to see this. So on a technicality this does not count but on the other it does not so it causes the conflict that he cant ban them. Now however on the other hand if somebody who did know went around telling everybody he could ban them as it would be considered a spoiler and we can only give hints by game rules.
To me this is very much like full metal jacket since we are being punished repeatedly due to actions of certain people i think we should have a right to excommunicate them do to the simple fact they are ruining the game for us. he has said himself that they are forcing him to reveal a big gear which in long term will be damaging to the game it shall open a pandoras box and it will in essence twist and destroy the game bring up MORE problems due to the simple fact that its the wrong order of revealing things our bet hope is he comes to realize this before he does act. And as for him not be able to ban him for it just because they bug him I am trying to take it out of his hands and let the community help decide if its better to force Murs hand in such decisions or let them unroll naturally by US the community as it is supposed to.

Names Mur, give us names! Name and shame them who treaht our secrets, all shall known the ignorants.
Everyone can point at everyone else and blame them, for we are all partially to blame. Most Vets would *LIKE* the old lore back because that meant you had things to rely on, to research and to build off of.

But, When you realise WHY you cant have the ancient lore, it makes a lot of sense. Its no point letting someone write a story and keep it as canon because it wont fit it. Take the Ancient lore as it is, a nice story, that COULD fit into MD very well, But then fact is its not offical and you have to ignore its effect.

And naming people always makes things worse, for then you have a target for anger and it becomes a witchhunt. Which is even more pointless because it seems that Mur has already made up his mind.
