Mr Mystery Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Anyways, here is a bug ive found today. Well, we'll start with the annoucement.
Storymode Percentage Bonus From now on, story mode will give a 4% bonus based on your existing stats for each page you advance. This bonus applies to stages MP3 and MP4 and only to the stats or skills the story would normaly give for that page. The meditation bonus will apply additional to that value, making it quite big (up to almost 8% for 24h wait). That means that you could at least double your stats during a mindpower advance. This has implications to the overall gameplay and is a major change. It also means that if you wait more at one stage before moving on to the next, you will be able to increase stats more and then receive a significantly bigger bonus on each story page. At this moment i don't know if 4% is much, enough, or low. For sure its much for those of you that gahtered already insane stats, but question is, how is it for the other majority of players that advance normaly. Feel free to discuss this on forum and the percentage might change later if needed.
As you can see here it says that is almost 8% increase on a 24 hour wait. Well here the bug. I have an alt in story mode. The current VE on the alt is 3.5k VE and 2.2k VP. Now after a 24 hour wait(which was more cause i didnt log in for days, but assuming that that wait is the limit) I got an increase in VE by 460ve and Vp by 362vp. Now if we do tha maths. (460ve/ 3500ve) x 100% = approx 13%. Now thats a whooping amount higher that the "close to 8% maximum". Im not sure if this was intended, but, according the the latest annoucement(unless i missed one earleir) i assume that it is not. and thus a bug. Will add on about no wait, and stats when encountered. so 4% x 1.9 = 7.6 Which is the maximum amount one could obtain according to the annoucement. What i think is that it is calculated wrongly. But if we do 3500/460 x 100, is 760. but if we do not multiply by 100 then its 7.6. So im guessing the maths to do we this when its introduced is the error. By this i can assume, that the code for this would be Vit/4(1.x) where is x is the amount of extra percentage. <--- this part is wrong. Will try to work out a formula. This would be wrong due to it not giving 7.6% but instead 13% increase. I propose to change it to. 0.04(1.x) x vit. this would give us the correct percentage. which in my case should be 266 vit. Now unless i missed something in my maths class here, i should assume its all correct. Some proofs: As you can see i had 3985 vit, before pressing continue. After pressing continue, the increase said it was 259.4 vit. 258.4/3985 x100 = 6.5%. This is without wait. after refreshing. 2 mins with VP. Another VE one. no wait. 219.76/4244 x100 = 5.1%. Edited August 28, 2010 by Mr Mystery Quote
Mr Mystery Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 Running some test now to verify. Quote
The Great Wanderer Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 I am constantly active and almost always meditate for 24 hours. I will also check this theory and get back to you as soon as I can. Quote
The Great Wanderer Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I tested the percentage change myself and came up with the following... When meditating the first time I found a 8.3% change with VE and during the second 24 hour meditation I found an about 8.2% change. I do not know if this truely is a bug or not, but until it is confirmed as one I would rather not provide evidence of this. I can however show proof if needed and asked for by a moderator. Quote
Mr Mystery Posted September 1, 2010 Author Report Posted September 1, 2010 Ok lol. Anyways more evidence ---Before --- after 9.7% increase. 24 hour wait pressed. Quote
Laphers Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 umm, is it possible that there is a story mode bonus based on your choice and then the 4-8 percent is applied which would allow the actual amount received to be higher than the 8 percent that you believe that should be max? ((Max VE + Bonus VE) * (4% * Meditation Bonus)) + (Max VE + Bonus VE) = Total New Max VE (I don't know if this is the formula that is used, I'm just suggesting that the formula may not be as simple as you suggest) Quote
Mr Mystery Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 Hmm there might. But im going to do one which ill involve a higher amount of vit. more then 50k presumably. Since the old story. didnt increase that much. around 200-300 per move, and doesnt matter how much VE you have. If so then the percentage differnce will be at a minimum. Quote
Grido Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 does anyone know if it's like this still? Quote
Ary Endleg Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I don't think this is any bug, I think Laphers is right here, percentage bonus is added to the base absolute bonus from story mode which must exist because at MP5 there is no percentage bonus. Moreover it's a good thing, a little bit of bonus stats to help newbs "catch" up to big guys, bonus ain't much but it helps. Quote
Myth Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I can't recall if you also get temporary stats from story mode. If you do, perhaps the percentage is calculated considering the total stat you have at the time, including other bonus, as Laphers said, along with the temporary ones. (which I can't remember if they exist) Quote
Ary Endleg Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Laphers doesn't mention any temporary stats :D he mentions FLAT boost added together with percentage boost. It definitely doesn't use temporary stats as base :)) Quote
Myth Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 I never implied he mentions them, I just added the idea as a possibility. :P Quote
