Windy Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Last year we did The Twelve Days of Christmas. SageWoman and I propose that this year we do "The Night Before Christmas" so we won't have to sing off key. But to make this interesting, let's put a lot of drama into this one and really make it a show to remember! Here are the words to help you: Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer. With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name! "Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!" As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack. His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself! A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose! He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!" Twas the Night before Christmas Poem By Clement Moore *Changed Because the Poem was incorrect. Tarquinus Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Part of the fun of last year's carol was that it was, in fact, a song that was mutilated not only in how it was worded but in how it was "sung". Master B and Toten sang in their own... special... ways, and it added to rather than detracted from the comedy. So to your spoken carol I say: bah, humbug! *shakes walker at Windy* Quote

Tarquinus Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Maybe I should. It was meant to be a joking reference to my advanced age and cantankerous nature. Quote

phantasm Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) It was surprisingly hard for me to try and come up with as many lines as the poem was. It's probally not very good, but I figured with the season I would make one around the Tribunal. I don't do youtube videos, or any online webcame stuff for that matter. But here is the written words and perhaps I will talk someone into making the video with it instead of me:D Twas the night before Murmas, and all through the East, Sephirah was preparing a wonderful feast. Xcercses was serving alchohol and wine, Truly the night was ever so fine. The Seal of Six were snug in their beds, With vision of chaos dancing in their heads. Phantasm in his cloak and Mur in his crown, Everyone had decided it was time to settle down. When out of the grave there rose such a clatter, We all sprang forth to see what was the matter. Through Jester’s street we saw in a haze, A figure of old was wandering adaze. The sun beat down upon the cold hard stones, The figure aloud did shiver and moan, What to our eyes did we ever see, Granos Del Void laughing with glee. With little reigndrachs, so lively and quick, We knew in a moment what ritual to pick. As our creatures began to assemble with haste, A strange look came Granos's his face. “Now Bootes! Now Woodin! Now Khalazdad and Jazira! On, Marvolo! On, Peace, On Sagey and Akasha! To the top the pub! To the top of the temple! Let us all make this Murmas so simple! As shadows that before the sun does fly, They all sprang together up into the sky. So they did jump up ever so high, A sight to be seen that made some cry. A twinkle in their eye, and a bag in each hand, Presents started to fall all across the land. As we caught the presents flying around, Back to the ground these veterans did bound. They were dressed in their medals and items of old, Oh how they shined like the legends retold. Creatures from the presents and much rarer things, Shades, and Santas, and Drachorns with wings. Their eyes how they twinkled! Their voices so merry! Apparently some of them had been drinking the sheri! All of us gathered round, so amazed by the sight, We all knew that this was the night. Murmas had come with such a delight, With veterans long gone once again in our sight. They remind us of days when things were so simple, With such crazy things as a mouse named pample. Together we joined in a day of Peace, So happy to be with those in the East. Mur smiled as bright as the crown on his head, We all knew tonight was a day for no dread. We spoke not a word, but went strait to the bar, With drinks for us all, from near and from far. The day we thought could not be more complete, When Mur himself stood on his feet. Aloud did he shout so that all could hear, “A thanks to you all for Murmas is here.” More presents did fall as he dissapeard from sight “A merry Murmas to all, and to all a good night.
