I was not concerned when I said "Seconded" that you would steal the creatures or items. I was more seconding the "bit worried" part.
Time passes, we forget things, etc.

As for the randomizing, why not simply put them all in a hat, and then pull one out at a time, going down the list of participants. (or roll dice, or list in a spreadsheet and randomly sort it) :)
