Joining the War of Resources - on the side of CARD!

Featured Replies

Dear All,

The last few days have been eventful, especially when it comes to resources.

We have seen a few people show extraordinary activity and progress when it comes to resource harvesting, or, better, stripping the lands till nothing remains.

There have been discussions, arguments and counter-arguments, mostly leading to nothing and the resources continuing to be depleted.

Then, with the creation of CARD, a solution has been proposed that will have an impact on the overly enthusiastic harvesters.

Is the CARD a perfect solution? No. Is it the one we deserve? Maybe.

There is no problem with resources themselves. They are infinitely regenerating, without the risk of becoming dry.

And yet, we have managed to make an issue out of endlessly flowing gift.

There are some depleters who ransack for fun, and are waiting for chaos to begin, for someone to challenge them. They shall have their excitement, the thrill, the challenge. Cheers.

But there are also people who come in, grab everything without care, and hide behind false ideals and masks. You ate the basket full of sweets, selfishly and without patience, and now that a RESPONSE to your actions has come, you dare call it aggression? Dare you to claim a right to freedom of your rights, when you take it from others ? Do not even mention any justice, for you are only sharing threats to only worsen your actions. In your foolishness, you sink everyone. The only amusing thing is, you are sinking yourself too. And as such, your loss is inevitable, for you are getting consequences from not one, but two sides, the rest of the people and what you yourself have caused to the land.

I have observed enough.

I will abide by the CARDS rules, as they currently are, although I won't be blocking the communication.

For the listeners, who have not yet decided, a reminder. You have already been dragged into this, without asking for it. And it was not the CARD that has dragged you into this conflict.

I understand the point you are making, but I think there is an important distinction being overlooked.

Yes, resources regenerate, but they do not regenerate instantly. Once heavily depleted, their regeneration can become significantly slower. I cannot justify waiting around for weeks, or potentially months, for other people to become bored of harvesting simply because they now have new tools and are capable of stripping the same areas.

The consequences of me choosing not to harvest are not theoretical. I lose the opportunity to gather those resources while they are available, while someone else can simply come along and take them instead. For me, those consequences do not outweigh the supposed benefit of waiting for regeneration.

I am not going to deliberately leave resources sitting there in the hope that everyone else will eventually stop harvesting. If resources are available, I am going to gather them. That is what they are there for.

I also think there is a difference between harvesting resources and intentionally attacking other players. I have been harvesting what is available to me. If people decide to create CARD as a response, that is their choice. But CARD is itself a response intended to impose consequences on other players, so it should not be surprising when those actions are perceived as aggression as well.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with my choices. I have no problem with people deciding that they want to organize against resource depletion. What I object to is the assumption that I should simply stop playing the way I have been playing and absorb the cost of doing so because other people believe their preferred solution is more reasonable.

If there are actual rules preventing me from harvesting, I will abide by them. If there are consequences for continuing to harvest, I will deal with those consequences.

But I am not going to voluntarily wait weeks or months while others continue harvesting with their new tools, hoping that eventually they get bored and leave resources for me.

The resources may regenerate infinitely, but my time does not.

Cheers.
