dst Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Since lately I became the most used bad example and ranting towards player in MD I though I should give you all a chance of doing it properly (on a separate topic). I started with a mini interview. In case you have other questions please be free to post them and I will try to answer them all. This was initially a reply to Mur's post in the class thingy topic but then I thought that it's too offtopic and that I really need to do this. So..prepare your words and start posting. One thing I want to ask: be decent (don't use bad words or if you do censor them please) My name is DST and I am a grinder (remember this Mur? ) or stats farmer or bug abuser or whatever you want to call me. I haven't gain stats since almost a month now. Why? Cause I know I can do it anytime and I know how to do it and because I am starting to get bored. Why don't you leave then? Cause it's too much fun. If at the beginning it was fun cause MD is really a special game and it was a challenge for me now it became my constant source of fun and I mean quality fun (not that I don't have other sources but MD is instant fun). It's too much fun watching people ranting about me and what I do, it's too much fun to being a pain in the back for some of the players (and I am not talking about Mur here cause if he wants me out he can simply ban me), it's too much fun to see how players react to some of the things I say or do. Why don't you go play WOW? I was about to when I found MD . Lucky MD! And I don't think I can handle more than 2 games at once and I am playing something else between 2 quests in MD.And again...see the answer above. Why do you like creating chaos and mess? At the beginning simply because I was able to. Now because I am able to and it's fun . You all praise role playing. Guess what? I do have a role (thanks Mur for opening my eyes) and it's that of a chaos creator. And the only reason why I stop doing and saying things is because I might hurt some of the players (not to many but they are) that I care about more than someone can imagine a DST can care (I do have a softer side but you need to know how to reach it). Why are you against RP-ing? I am not against RP-ing! He**! you can RP as long as you want from my point of view. I have something against the ones that accuse me of bad RP-ing. I don't accuse them of bad fighting! And has anyone of the accusers thought that THIS is how I want to play the game? That as long as there are crits, players and the attack button I will do it? Funny but in my opinion the fighting system is more advanced (and has lots more features) then the RP-ing one. And it seems it improves as time goes by (see the tokens, the changes Mur is making (while I am writing this ) to the honor and loyalty system. Don't you get tired of being punished? Hmm...no if I am punished for doing something. I am pissed when I am being punished for things I have not done based on rules that say (RPCs are infallible). And you all know what I am talking about. Oh wait! I was not punished back then. I chose to QUIT even if the announcement said I was fired . What are you trying to prove? Nothing. I don't need to prove anything cause I already did Nimrodel and Kyphis the Bard 2
Burns Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I have another question, Ms. Grinder-Girlie: when you are causing real troubles, are you mainly doing it by hand or using scripts, like with the ally-thing back then? I mean, do you have a script that attacks people with a your archer/drachorn rit while you are asleep or something the like? XD and, one more question: what exactly caused you to turn from the bug-villian to an almost-LHO of willows? both questions are of a very private nature, so if you choose to not answer, i'm sure we'll understand^^ Kyphis the Bard 1
dst Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 1)With the ally thing we used 2 scripts: 1 to buy crits and sac the heat and 1 to sacrifice crits and sac heat. As for the attacking thing: no, I do not use a script. 2) I didn't. I am still evil inside . You know that for a long time I played a man's role. I did it how I imagined a man would react (tough, merciless etc). I changed when I had no reasons to hide anymore. But even if I don't act like that I still can cause damage and chaos and other bad things. Just because some things never change PS: I have no clue how to write a script(or at least not one for this sort of games) so the bad guy that did it is No one (that's why I say he is the brains behind most of my actions) Kyphis the Bard 1

B ) Is Manu's wish to make us all Role players? 8P C) You like your status! (?)(both senses) I am not intrested the truth\reality I'm curious about your opinion Edited May 4, 2009 by GgSeverin
dst Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Right now yes, MD is split into RP-ers and fighters. Occasionally the RP-ers fight but they do it in the dojo or by asking for rits (most of them). Occasionally fighters RP mostly by chatting, exchanging ideas about rits, stats doing tests or just babling between 2 fights. Right now I can think at only two players that do both and ironically they are both women (Peace and Ailith). But maybe at this time of night I am too tired to think to much . And as far as I know, yes! Manu wants to make us all role players cause this is a RPG game even if as I said many times before the combat system is at this moment superior to the RP system. Yes, I do. I like my status. Otherwise I would have tried to change it. But I have no intention of doing such a thing mainly because (this is really really funny) it is my role  and I am having fun with it Kyphis the Bard 1
Udgard Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Question: Will you sell yourself again in the slave market should there be another one? xD
Root Admin Muratus del Mur Posted May 5, 2009 Root Admin Report Posted May 5, 2009 Question1: are you aware that the gratest damage that you do is not what you do yourself but you influence others to do by your example? Question2: You said that the fighting part is more developed than the RP part. How do you see the RP part in a more developed way? i see the two depend on each other not separated, its just a matter of how you use them, but i would realy like to hear your opinion about how RP could be improved since you don;t consider yourself a rplayer. ... You answered several times you did some things "because you could do them". RP is about self discipline, about things you can do but you think before doing. I see RP as something beyond the tehnical limitations and what you do is to point out that tehnical part can mess things. Of course it can, MD like anything else is far from perfect tehnicaly. And metaforicaly speaking you act like a kid that breaks a delicate glass vase "just because he can". Kyphis the Bard 1
Willem RedBeard Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I consider myself a roleplayer, but I also immensely enjoy fighting. My character is something of a guardian/protector, so I think it is important to be strong. While I could simply act tough and go around doing heroic things all of the time, I feel it is important to be strong within the fighting-system of the game. This didn't actually take much effort and I don't have amazing creatures (I am a fairly new player), but I feel that it blends very well with my character. It has also gone a very long way to increasing my principles, which if nothing else I can also use in RP-ing. Anyways, I suppose my question is: within the actual Magicduel universe (you know, the little girl in the cube, Shades, loreroot, etc) how does your role actually integrate? I can see what you do on the technical level and with the mechanics of the game, but I don't see how that actually integrates with the universe of Magicduel itself. Kyphis the Bard 1
GgSeverin Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 RPG game? (checking) Oh yes but what an adventure! Maybe Mur knows better than me i still search&dig&discover my future role but i learned some role play therapy the implications are... Well I'll stick around. Question for anybody who saw DST in RL: Is DST a girl? I will believe (accept? hmm...) that very hard.
Burns Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 she's a woman, you stop being a girl at 19/20... but i guess you could call her a girl with some experience LOL

Maybe that is my real power and not the stats that I gathered or the wp or the spell docs or whatever. MD is a game where power is not measured in attack points (he** Cless has more than me but, no offense Cless, more players know me than him) but in reputation points (not even that friends list is important*). <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Question2: You said that the fighting part is more developed than the RP part. I don\'t have the slightest idea. Why? Because MD is not a common game. Before MD my favorite game was Baldure\'s Gate (I even bought the french version of the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> and I don\'t know even the basics of french language). That is what I call a good RPG game. MD is the world that allows each and everyone of us to become the person we want to be (smart, strong etc etc) even if doing this by being a warrior, healer, mage, dog, wolf whatever (I am waiting for the player that will choose to play a stone\'s role <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />). Maybe the fact that there are almost no rules and features (except basic ones) for RP-ing helps the RP-ers the most. They are free to do whatever they want. They have the absolute freedom. What you could do to help? No idea... Maybe nothing cause in the moment you will bring rules and new features you will create some paths they will have to follow. So a part of the freedom will be lost or even worse:you\'ll reduce the game to a normal go there, click that, talk to NPC X ...tada! You\'re a delicate glass vase <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> You really made me thinking with this question <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> cause I never though on how to improve the RP-ing system. Why? Because it\'s not my target. Ask the RP-ers. I honestly cannot give you an answer(other than the one I gave you above). I am a total noob when it comes to ideas for RP-ing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />. But I choose the risk. This is not a role, it\'s the real me: yes a spoil brat that breaks the delicate vase cause she can. As for the technical part you know pretty well that every single bug and exploit that me or No one found (or the ones that were reported to us) I reported to Shoeps and in the end to you when he failed to do it. Remember when No one called you cause the offline attack bug was way out of hand? Discovering those bugs, exploits was part of the fun we had. I think that you, allowing players to (ab)use bugs and exploits they find was a big mistake. You had your reasons and I think i understand them but in the end it led to creating players like me. I don\'t know if I answered your questions (I tried my best given the few hours of sleep I had and the complexity of your second question <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ). If not...feel free to ask more. I am always open to discussion <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />. After all I started the topic, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> * I bet that 70% of the ones that have me on their friends\' list are not playing. Cause I knew I could swing some of the opinions. I saw the topic minutes after you posted it but I chose not to answer. In the end it seems I made a wrong decision but that\'s another story. Btw: Chewett, the system doesn't let me use as many emoticons as I want to. I received this:"You have posted a message with more emoticons that this board allows. GgSeverin Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Too much ego for a girl. Just too much (according to my experience) I made 2 samples (kids) very close to your age (boy & girl) 22 and 23 & I was a teacher 4 God sake! I know what I mean. "the girl" is damn young Burns, that's why I call her; Only because she can throw flames I do not say "kid" (you are allowed to conclude that I am old-that is not true!) And hey! Kid'o (Remember Casablanca movie) Let's admit few facts 1# Do you agree that the game is giving (taking) us great time? 2# Do you agree tha Manu's personality (ego and some of his personal values) are present in our game?
I wish that the other supranaturals signs on a forum
If you are ok with the 1# & 2# and if Muratu (s) comes and say "Hey, I need your help" you say "shure just don't mixt in my game" And Mur shold hear then "don't mixt in my Role Play" A beer 4 each one of you to the RL pub where you usually argue. And I'll talk to SageWoman to put two beers aside for the same MD moment. :drinks:
!@#$%^&*(()_
I lost my camera

You\'re a delicate glass vase
I agree, giving up freedom for features is not a good thing. There are lots of things that could safely add to the roleplay though. Right now we have discussions about items all over the forum. There's the factions that are intended to boost roleplay. A lot of people have (had) a list of suggestions/desires since(during) the festival. Granted a lot of those were about spells or abilities, but judging people and handing them out is beneficial to RP (although there will be lots of complaining, impatience and I wonder if it's even possible for one person to read all those papers), but there were other suggestions that don't imply power (except for looking 1337). Eg. Shapeshifters having the ability to change their name from "Shapeshifter (form A)" to "Shapeshifter (form B)" at will. The only advantage they get is that people who enter the area later on, will know what form they are in. Not as big as the blue text thing, but still... Personally i wanted to mess around with scripts, I don't even need much help for that (I think). I kinda assumed scripts weren't allowed though, they seldom are since they can be used for both good and evil. And more paper! If you look at how i 'solved' that problem... that's not the way it's supposed to be done right? Now, a question: You realize you're not as evil as you say? Not as pure a grinder as you say? You admit to having a (questionable) role, liking Baldur's Gate and thus you probably like quests and stories. You like trying new and fun ways to nudge the realm towards unbalance to see how people would respond. Actually roleplay is about doing little things and seeing how other players respond, what happens next. Whether or not roleplaying yourself is an interesting or a challenging role, is up for debate. And why not try the nudging on a smaller scale, afraid you'll like it? We really should have an 'interview with a stat grinding godmodder', one who wont report bugs but keep them secret, will get upset when accused of abuse or when noticing things don't go as expected. Or purposely destroy the game because someone did not respond the way it was desired. The kind of person that does not accept criticism and wont like being interviewed about that. But since you're the 'evil' one, maybe you should suggest a candidate for that interview? Kyphis the Bard 1
Treehill Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Lol i didnt knew you were that evil....sure there were times i felt god i hate her,she can do that but soon i learned to do the same and probably if it wasnt for my hate/love/envy relationship about those events i wouldnt have grow as fighter, although i do not consider myself neither Rper or Grinder,i think im just into the social part of the game...... So if it were to classify some people around MD i woouldnt say it wxist only types of players but 3: RPers Fighters/Grinder Socio-paths...kidding i just dont have a good nick for it... See my first post when I stated some of my reasons for not leaving. And of course I agree that Manu's personality is present everywhere. So eat your hart out ps: I will use this topic for answering to the arrows shot at me in other topics so I will not fill those with offtopic.
yep... when i started playing the game Dst was already a legend, if i may say... everybody can do with their roles what they want, after this is a free game! altought i dislike bad roles (like, i just started the game, im an mp3, but i can shoot fire storms from my finger, i'm a god!) but i dont have problems with non-role players :PpP Kyphis the Bard 1
