The main frustration was that many people who use Openoffice likely use/have used Google docs. No I don't know the code, but I do know enough about coding in general to know that there is code that counts what I want to know elsewhere in the program.
Yeah, it's likely an unfair frustration, but it does seem that these things get complained about and left alone for years.

Google docs does not allow you to find a word exactly in a document (so searching 'for' will also highlight 'forget'). However, it does show how many instances of 'for' there are. Meanwhile, open office lets you search for whole words only, but it doesn't show you how many times said words come up (such as 'for') without an extension.
The above is just one example among many.
