  3. Grido and Big Ben:

you can "hear" the bells ring 13 times if you're listening to it from a distance with your window open and have the TV on that is reporting live from the tower. You will hear the first chime from the television, the next 11 will happen simultaneously (both from the TV and through the window) then the last chime will just be through the window. I'm not exactly sure what distance you have to be from the tower, but i know that it is loud enough for this to happen.

  4. A simpler method to the bunny riddle:

stealing Saco's counting method... Using the 24 hours, set up the following method of telling the person in front of you what color their hat is: if you have the same color hat as them, you will answer immediately... if not, you will wait ten seconds to tell them that it is opposite. The person at the back of the line has a 50/50 shot.

This is how it works in practice:

the last person in line says the color of the hat of the person directly in front of them. if it just so happens to be their color, then they live. if not... oh well. everyone else will survive with 100% certainty. The next person in line has 2 options:

    1) answer immediately the correct color of their own hat... but ONLY if the person in front of them has the same color hat.

    2) Wait a full ten seconds before answering correctly the color of their own hat. (signaling to the person in front of them that their hat is the opposite color).

I think this is easier, although much less mathmatically interesting.

  5. Metal Bunny, you are wrong about my bunny method, there is a much greater than 50% chance of survival with the route i took. Half of the people will be saved FOR SURE, and the other half will be saved 50% of the time (roughly) giving me about a 75% survival rate. Unless there is a new rule i should know about...

Also, you gave the same chance as Trahern, you just simplified it...

  6. cannibal marbles:

rearrange the marbles so that all of the black marbles are at the bottom of each jar (half in each) and all the white marbles are on the top of each jar (half in each). then just pull a marble off the top.

    carnivorous bunny:

start at the back of the line, the last person says the color of the hat of the person in front of him. he has a 50% chance of it being the same as his, and they have a 100% chance of survival. the third person to guess says the color of the person's hat in front of them as well. again, 50% and 100%. and so forth.

    Cork!:

Trahern got my answer, i just wanted to make another spoiler tag!

  7. Ditto Evening. i'm a few wins below balanced right now, and very few people give me honor for beating them. It also seems like many fewer people are hanging out in the open now, they're all in hiding (myself included).

Change the honor system, and ditch the sanctuaries if you're keeping this fight system.

  8. My favorite riddle ever. I have not posted this yet, because it's fairly common, but just in case you have not heard it before... This one is FUN! :) I'm more interested in how you solved it, since the answer is easy to find online.

If you are looking for the solution online, just google:

    Einstein's Riddle

Hint: how I solved it (DONT READ IF YOU WANT TO TRY THIS YOURSELF):

i used excel to map out a simple grid with each possible outcome in each row and in each column, then i read through the clues and used excel to map out what i found from each clue, identifying the positives and eliminating the negatives. be sure to create a secondary graphic to keep track of spacial relation as well, because some of the hints are relative to the position of other things.

Let us say that there are five different colored houses next to each other on the same road. In each house lives a man from a different country. Every man has a favorite drink, a favorite brand of cigarettes, and keeps pets of different kinds.

    1. The Englishman lives in the red house.

    2. The Swede keeps dogs.

    3. The Dane drinks tea.

    4. The green house is just to the left of the white one.

    5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee.

    6. The Pall Mall smoker keeps birds.

    7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills.

    8. The man in the center house drinks milk.

    9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.

    10. The Blend smoker has a neighbor who keeps cats.

    11. The man who smokes Blue Masters drinks bier.

    12. The man who keeps horses lives next to the Dunhill smoker.

    13. The German smokes Prince.

    14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.

    15. The Blend smoker has a neighbor who drinks water.

Who keeps fish as a pet?

  9. you're only partially right. you can't make everyone happy... but complaints DO matter when they are real issues. Are you tracking game playing habits such as hiding in a sanctuary to not get to many losses, then running around the world looking for players to attack and get positive honor - not finding any, then going back to a sanctuary to hide again? It's getting really lame. I was able to collect 1 actual victory last night and about 3 other 'wins' that didn't count without losing honor. today, i couldn't find any fights. not good. perhaps this is just a transition phase and things will magically work themselves out - but i don't think it will without intervention.

i'm not worried about getting victories and not wins. i'm worried about so many losses being handed out, and the impact on the honor system. it's happening very fast.

sooo, i will wait with you to see what happens. i, however, will be doing it from the safety of a sanctuary and just letting my creatures age.

  10. Trahern, that's an awesome answer! :P

Here is a tricky math one. (wish I knew how to post pictures).

Draw a 5 pointed star on a piece of paper. Now make a dot in each of the points of the star. What is the sum of all 5 angles that have dots in them? What method did you use, and why?

    Hint 1:

it doesn't matter if the star is lopsided or perfect, the angles will have the same summation

    Hint 2:

Remember your algebra rules... the sum of the interior angles equals...

  11. ANSWER TO THIS RIDDLE

A guy gets home at 5pm and sees his wife cooking, he then takes a nap and when he wakes up (at 8pm) a superb dinner was ready to be eaten. At 11 pm they go to bed. In the morning at 6am, he killed her. Why? What happened here?

So my clue was to take each part individually, and not to assume that it was meant to be sequential. If you read it with that in mind, then you can see that... The man killed his wife at 6am. He put her in the oven. When he got home from work, she was still cooking at 5pm. When he got up from his nap at 8pm, she was done cooking, and ready to be eaten (so her ate his dead wife). His girlfriend and he went to bed at 11pm. Soooo, the man killed his wife in the morning, then ate her for dinner before bed.

    Guesses for tobajas's riddles:

    #1:

It's a poem about being pregnant, i'm not sure what the exact answer to the riddle is though.

    #2:

The break my head part as me stumped, but I think it's about mining diamonds (they are dark until they get cut, and they are found in a bed of rock)

    #3:

The last one could be a coffin like thrall said, but it doesn't make as much sense as forged docuements or fake money. (you don't want people to know it's fake, if you accept it you don't know it's fake, and if you know it's fake then you wont accept it).

  12. This is going to make it hard for those of us with balanced profiles to get honor. There are more and more people running around with tons of losses... I don't mind not having wins count, but you need to rework the loss/honor system if this is how it's going to be.

    here is an example:

I have been trying to keep track, and only about 33% of my wins are counting under the new system. So I need to attack 3 times as much for wins (Or i hand out three times as many losses as losses i need to take to keep my profile balanced). I know that i'm unique in that I have a strong profile for my MP level - but i'm assuming other people are finding a similar situation.

If this continues, then we're running the balance system into the ground... You'd need to have MP3s come up to MP4 with SICK w/l ratios to keep the game balanced (like 100-33). And even if it does happen, then what is happening to the MP3s who ARE taking all the losses when they get to MP4? It has to balance out eventually. It's impossible for all of the MP3s to come in with a 100-33 record (unless all the guys that keep losing quit the game).

Eventually we'll all either have to stop attacking when our profile is balanced, or risk going to -500 honor. Think about it. It's just math.

    **edit**

It also appears to be buggy. Here is a fight that I just finished:

    Casualties: Defender:89.85673%, Attacker:66.32026%

    heat A: 0 heat E: 0

    logsize:1125

    usevitality e (you):50

    usevitality a:100

    looser:E

    actionnr:120

    rounds:9

    E lost: 9408vit; A lost: 9977vit;

I did NOT get a win for this fight. Because I lost more vitality than he did? That's ridiculous.

  13. train riddle!

I blame the guy with the knife. Dont wear a knife in public. that's just stupid. pack it in a bag or hide it or something...

Box riddle: Grido has the best answer. there is one similar possibility that no one has mentioned yet. Saco also came up with some creative answers (I liked the one with molecular structure... NICE! :P)

Man coming home riddle: not close yet... here is a hint

read the riddle again more slowly, think about what each part is saying individually... forget the order for now

  14. Sorry Metal Bunny, that's not the answer.

In your scenario, why didn't he kill her at 8 PM when he woke up, or at 11pm?

There is a better solution. :P

    **edit**

Also, i'd like to hear your answer for the cube puzzle. :P Even if you think it's stupid, it might have some merit. The *real* answer is debatable anyway.

  15. You have to cut the pieces infinitely small for this one to work :P 1mm cubed isn't nearly small enough. hehe...

Here is another one that might be more fun:

A guy gets home at 5pm and sees his wife cooking, he then takes a nap and when he wakes up (at 8pm) a superb dinner was ready to be eaten. At 11 pm they go to bed. In the morning at 6am, he killed her. Why? What happened here?

  16. I agree with Ruin. Many things could have happened. Not enough info really. Possibly if all of the passengers have to be involved, or something like that.

Here is a new one to try on for size:

You have a piece of wood that is the shape of a perfect cube. It fits perfectly into a box, leaving no space at all, and fills the box completely to the top. Remove the block from the box, and cut it into two perfect halves. Then cut the halves into perfect halves again. Repeat this process to infinity (assume zeno's paradox doesn't apply, and you are able to get to a point of sufficient infinity). You are left with an infinite number of wood block "pieces" that are also infinitely small. Now put the pieces of the block back into the box. How full is the box? Why?

    :P
