1. Ghosts: Real or unreal? If I told you they were real, would you believe me? Probably not. What one needs is to SEE it for oneself.

Seeing is believing -- so, I propose a challenge:

Go to a wooded area at sunset. Walk around the trails, find a spot that you feel comfortable in. Wait for the sun to go down, then engage in an activity that will make you very emotional. This is the challenging part, right? Dancing works for me, I put my walkman on, get into the music, and a few songs in, I'm living the music and am totally amped up. Then the fun stuff happens. Think of something you could do in an outdoor environment, where you can more or less stay in the same spot, but get really emotional. I'm not talking about remembering emotions, or thinking about feelings, but really feeling them -- with all of the physical changes that go alongside them.

Ghosts are real, and they really like human energy. The more emotional you get, the more energy you will be radiating to your surroundings. Think of it as a ghost-attractor, like a giant energy magnet in the woods, drawing them to you.

It's all well and good to trade ideas on an online forum about the reality of the supernatural. But I for one think it's infinitely better to seek the truth for yourself. And having found my proof, I'm sharing an avenue to find it for yourselves.

If anyone is serious about this, PM me before you go. I have a few tips that will come in handy if one decides to grace you with its presence.

  2. I'll define magic as I understand it, but to do that I need to define a few other terms as well:

Consciousness: The sum of a person's experience, as rooted in their identity.

Willpower: The amount of fortitude and strength of a person's ability to create change in the world.

Magic: The act of using one's willpower to create change in consciousness, be it personally, or of other people.

With this definition, magic is very real, and can be a mundane day-to-day activity. Telling a good joke and making someone else laugh, could be an act of magic. Remembering a time you were sick, focusing on the feeling of sickness, and recreating it physically in your body is also an act of magic. Concentrating on another person, while holding this sick feeling in yourself, with the aim to infect the person with the sickness, would be an act of black magic. And to the doubters of such a projection actually being possible, I will say here that I've done it. With enough focus and intent, many strange changes in consciousness (and the physical reality that mirrors it) can happen.

Willpower is the key to magic, and consciousness is the element that allows it to happen.

  3. Tzaroth747....

Tzaroth was a name I took from the Dragonlance series, in them a city named Xak Tsaroth had a brief role in one of the books. I slightly changed the spelling to make it more sinister. Tzaroth as an internet tag has been used by me for 10 years.

The 747 part was put on the end to pay homage to the symbol that has been instrumental in my life. 7:47, as a time, and as a synchronistically, constantly-recurring number in my life, has been a sort of guiding signpost throughout my travels.

  4. I really like this idea, for the reasons I'll list below:

The removal of heads contest winners as participants in current contests, while improving the fairness of the current contest, also removes a certain strategic element to the contest.

Head contest winners are, for the most part, very active in the MD world. They pay attention to strategy, combat and creature rituals, in addition to being active in the community. All contest winners can agree that politics and alliances play a vital role in the winning, and losing, of a contest.

I've said the above two comments to paint a portrait of a certain slice of the MD community. Do these people like to fight? Definitely. Do they cherish the opportunity to lose, to win, to explore different strategies? Absolutely. Is the heads contest a great motivating factor for everyone to get in the game and give their best? Of course!

A distinct, separate, parallel contest would provide another means of motivation, competition, learning. Many people stay up days without sleep to score in the contest, and it isn't all about the reward. Besting your player-mates brings with it a sense of accomplishment, and many people are interested in the goings-on of the contest regardless of participating or not.

I fully support this idea and think it would provide another opportunity for people to learn about the combat and political dynamic that is an integral part of the MD world. It would allow for past winners to again participate in a much-anticipated, very exciting aspect of the game.

  5. Early morning on Monday January 12th, my brother passed away. In grief and shock I decided to cut away things that were drawing me away from my friends and family in real life, and I think you can all understand this.

As time has gone on though I have found myself thinking of the friends I have made on this wonderful game, and have missed them. I think I was too hasty in deciding to quit MD, and will be coming back. Connections made with people are real, always, regardless of the fact if it is in person, or over the internet.

I look forward to playing with you all again.

  6.
I think fighting or talking will both end in ruin. How can you win an argument with yourself? Also, how can you fight yourself without ending in ruin? To destroy Amoran or Kalamanira is to destroy both.

Instead, Amoran must be the picture of humbleness, just as Kalamanira is the epitome of aggression. Kalamanira will strick at Amoran, but the strength and courage of Amoran in the face of danger will overwhelm Kalamanira.

How must you fight hate? With love. How must you fight fire? With water. So too must you fight aggression with peace.

What will probably be the outcome is a binding of the two entities, and they will be one being.

Or perhaps one will win, only Amoran/Kalamanira can know.

    I agree 100%.

  7. As part of a Buddhist monks training, there is a test. After years of intense mental focus, a monk is sent out into the mountain winter chill with nothing on his person but a entirely wet blanket. If you or I were to be out there with this wet blanket on, it would freeze, and then we would. However, the monk does not freeze, nor does the blanket. Through a specialized meditation technique, the monk raises his body temperature to not only freeze to death in subzero temperatures, but to also completely dry the blanket. Not only is this test seemingly impossible, but it is timed. They have to do it within a certain time frame to pass. Simply drying it is not enough!

I offer an example of the mind/body relation:

Take a normal breath. Watch/listen/feel your body. Now, while breathing normally, place your hands so they encompass your stomach and the small of your back. As you breathe, you should notice an expansion in the belly, maybe a tiny bit in the side of your body, but nothing else.

Now, with hands still in place, breathe into an imaginary balloon in your belly. Imagine, as you breathe, this balloon expanding in all directions --- imagine it expanding your back, your sides, your front. Feel your hands now, as you breathe with this in mind.

Surprised by the results? ...That's only the beginning of what one can do!

  8. Earlier today I was in a bookstore reading a book about the Mayan 2012 prophecy.

The dude who wrote the book spoke with a Russian scientist whose speciality was ...well, space stuff. Forgive my lack of proper terminology, but the fellow was collaborating a study with different countries about the state of our solar system as a whole as it traverses the milky way galaxy.

Apparently, from the pooled data gathered from ground observatories, satellites, and deep space exploring satellites, there is a 'wave' generated by our solar system as it moves thru the galaxy - much as a 'wave' is generated by a boat as it traverses the ocean. This deep space wave, located in its intensity at the edge of our solar system, is creating a resonant disturbance of great magnitude, as it pushes into a 'new/different' region of the galaxy. Apparently, there are magnetic fields, hydrogen and hydroxly (sp?) and other types of particles out there, in a much greater intensity than ever recorded that our solar system is now pushing into. Sort of like, a thicker, more 'full', area of space. Well, that may be cool and all, but the idea is that these space energies will have an immense impact on our solar system, as we move deeper into the denser area of space.

There is a giant storm on Jupiter astronomers have been recording for the past 300 years -- can you imagine? A storm lasting 300 years and showing no sign of abating. Magnetic poles are shifting on other planets, and an increase of storm activity as well -- these are postulated to be as a result of the immense increase in energy that is passing thru the fields of the planets themselves.

The Russian scientist was saying that there will be dire consequences for the life on earth, for in the next few years the sun, and earth itself, will be greatly affected by the energy our solar system is soon to be saturated with. Something about increased sunspots, --sun storms, that have in the past, and will continue to, knock out major power grids, disable satellites, disrupt communications, etc.

So what's out there in the universe? Well, I guess... time will tell. I'm rubbing my hands with the anticipation of it!

  9.
All around you are big and small things. Thye are big or small because you compare them to eachother. Take two things you want, one big, one small, then try to see things comparing to them in such way that they will look exactly the oposite.

and the ant-elefant things is not an example, is an actual training material.
Training material of what type, created by who, and for what purpose?

  10. Alpha, beta, theta, delta...

Brainwaves, and the thoughts they produce --

Studies have been done on thinking patterns, sleeping patterns, and the psycho-physio link between the mind and the body.

I find I can turn off the internal dialogue of my thoughts with three breaths. This is after years of sporadic meditation sessions -- I imagine a balloon is inside my belly, and as I breathe, this balloon expands in all directions. I have had people touch my back, behind my stomach, as I did this breath -- and they have felt the remarkable difference between this deep breathing and normal breathing. The back will expand greatly, as your imagination will actually direct the breath into your body.

This sort of breathing is exceedingly helpful towards calming the mind, and reaching the theta brainwave state that is conducive to creative thought and meditation.

When my internal dialogue is off, there is a change in the state of my consciousness. I feel an expansion inside my head, and it feels as if my actual awareness has grown a series of 'feelers' almost as if my mind has become a sixth sense. With this directable, tactile awareness, I can reach out and touch objects both in the world around me, and inside my memory bank and imagination. The awareness reacts to, and provides information on, whatever it is I am reaching out to feel with my mind. This sort of thinking process has no words in it, just a series of sensations that, in and of themselves, contain information that would take paragraphs to surmise. It is an extremely concise, precise, and efficient method of thinking.

At times in my day to day, I strive to achieve the empty mind state, so that in my routine daily activities I can access the 'feeler mind' and as I do, I find myself more at peace, and with a greater understanding & appreciation for the activities that I am involved in.

There are other sensations, and other facets of awareness, that come to me when in this state. Perhaps I will share more later...

The noise of an empty mind is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...
