To be honnest, it was confusing for me as well, the first couple of days... Mostly because of new concepts... Berserker challenge was easy for me, as well as Loreroot guards, when I finally bothered to see what creatures they actually have and what they do...

I still consider myself a newbie... I have a basic grasp of the combat mechanics, I have given some thought to some of the concepts underlaying the realm of MD, but that's about as far as I got...

The thing is: Loreroot guards aren't really that important, it's a milestone in learning how to create decent rituals... I had creatures from Loreroot before I defeated the guards... You don't have to go to China to have a silk handkerchief, but it can be useful to know a merchant.

Some people just don't understand what the game is about and approach it in a wrong way. They don't find a place for themselves. There is a lot more to MD then just fighting.

For example, I invited a friend to MD and gave him no spoilers... I helped by giving one or two creatures, but that's it... And he is doing very well for now, because I told him what I wrote here... Don't focus on combat, keep your mind open for new things, be patient, don't give up easily... and most importantly: Find a place for yourself.

Join the Guardians of Bob, join the Enemies of Bob... Find out more about the lands and their nature... See where you could fit best, develop your role...

These are very basic advices any player would give you... The thing is, people don't tend to listen to advice and are frustrated because you don't want to tell them how to defeat the guards...

Edit: What upset me? Hm... The fact that some people demand respect from me even though I don't really know them... Go figure... ^.^

I've thought about this... The basic problem is: new players get pounded by veterans, they get out of balance, they get stat loss, hence they spend most of the time in sanctuaries, and almost never go idle, thus creating an illusion of not having enough mp5s to train with... Hell, even people to talk with...

I'd suggest a few possible solutions (if someone already suggested these things, I'm sorry):

a) Get rid of the stat loss, instead implement a stat cap, or a monthly stat decay if you don't fight. (maybe combined with the forced advance after a certain ammount of stats are gained)

b) A transit level between mp4 and mp5, where lowering exp is possible, but much less then on mp5 (like 5-10%), or maybe implement this on mp4... This wouldn't get more people to mp5, but would make those who make it to mp5 strong enough to stand up to the vets without the need of dipping into the WP shop to reset their exp... Would lower the ammount of strong mp3s as well, but would be a problem since there would be a lot of strong mp4s going around... But I think it could be tweaked so that it works better than the current system. Could be done by implementing a forced advance after a certain ammount of stats are gained.

c) Since there is already the 15 credits when your "recruit" reaches mp5, there could also be a 10-15 credits when you reach mp5... Even better, once you reach mp5, you get the avatar feature enabled without the need to buy it in the shop. Lower the gold-avatar quality bar, put the gold avatars lower in the shop, make the best avatars into red-gold avatars... or different colors depending on the theme of the avy, and put that in the place where the gold avys are now. Also, could be good if there was a creature somewhere in there to assure more shop action in that branch...

d) Something similar to something already suggested: Pick your inner magic doc when you reach mp5... (since there is no distributing of them at the moment afaik) Choice between 4-5 lvl one docs would be appropriate. Yes, this would eliminate the special feel and rarity of them, but still... In a community this small nothing is that rare any more... And besides, with most vets having 4 to 5 inner docs to their name, they still stay "special", especially the higher level ones.

e) A combination of the above.

I do not know if this was researched, but I can not find anything concerning it. I wrote down some of my speculations and would like your opinions as well. If this is something that has been discussed or considered a spoiler in one way or the other, feel free to delete this topic. If it is something not to be discussed and left a mystery(like the Who killed Marrin deal) also, feel free to delete it and punish me as you see fit.

I wrote a small note after I saw it with a few thoughts. Here it is:

Notes on the Angien at the Howling gates. Day 15 in the realm.
The Angien at the Howling gates intrigues me. Could it be that it is a sign of balance? Light and Dark, back to back, never seeing each others faces. Avoiding battle this way, because they are so different that if they even saw one one another face to face, battle would be inevitable. Where the Shades Angien banished to Necrovion and could it be that the Angien forever holds guard in front of the Gates? Or would it be a symbol of Angien turning their back on the Shades.

It is interesting to think, if it is, indeed, a sign of balance, that maybe Khalazdad found the truth behind it and because of that proceeded to seek balance himself by dividing his soul into two pieces. (though other reasons are given in both stories and history) Could the Angien and the Shades be one of the same, divided in search of balance?
Or could it be that trough some method you could transform Angien into Shades. I must have someone who is familiar with creature mutations shed some light on this. (Even though I am not certain that Shades are creatures at all).
If Angiens are alive and Shades are not, can it be that Shades are the afterlife form of the Angien (though this is highly unlikely).

I have no information on this yet. I have to dig deeper.

Note: I know very little of Shades and Angien, as I am new to the realm, so forgive me if I said something that is not correct.

They say curiosity killed the cat, but I do hope this does not end with me being of that fate.

The more I think about it, the more I am drawn to the idea that it has something to do with the past and what happened between the Angien and the Shades and not a simple sign of balance. Yet it might be both.

As I said before, I know almost nothing of Angien and Shades, and to learn will take time, so I restrain myself from drawing rash conclusions. I have been given helpful information by some people who sent me messages when they saw this discussion, and I thank them. I know knowledge is great gift to give, and I do appreciate it greatly. Though, now I do not know if I am to share that gift here.

Thank you, both Shara and Yrth, for your suggestions. I will try to uncover more(especially about the dual nature of the Angiens) and put my thoughts on it here or in a document, which will be made public when I draw some conclusions. Or maybe even if I just find more questions. Questions are always more useful than facts, anyway. Just as long it is coherent, since I have a tendency to write down alot of incoherent thoughts which need alot of rewriting later on.

I know I haven't said much in this post, but I didn't have the time to look into it a great deal more today, and I wanted to answer your posts.

And on a side note: There are still areas unaccessible to me in the realm, so I am limited in resources by that as well. So if I say something dumb due to a lack of information, please forgive me.

The avatar is in the system, but hasn't been approved yet. So, I'll leave the biding open for about a week or so.

The minimal price is 3s. Post your bids or PM them, it's all the same to me.

Will accept creatures, if they are "interesting" to me.

I'm in the game for 20 days, and I'm going to tell you- you have no idea what you are talking about. You must have learned so much about the mechanics while grinding non damaging defense rituals. How can you learn anything by attacking random rituals or non-dmging def rits? You learned how to mindlessly grind. Good for you.

And you oppose this change based on what? As I am aware, a ritual with 1 tree on 50% vit will give you a whole lot more exp then just an ordinary ritual with diverse creatures. You can learn more when fighting more "interesting" rituals...

But I see you don't want to learn, just mindlessly farm stats. I haven't seen you included in any other part of the game except the battle... And I'm not even sure if I ever saw you active in the chat. And yet you come here, "representing the new players" and offering yourself to enforce rules you don't even respect at times.

On the topic:

I can say that most of the mp3s and mp4s will welcome this change... We need guidance... Yes, we might be arrogant to ask for it (since many of you might not have had that guidance), but we need it.

Rhaegar stepped up and offered an idea to help us. An idea... He presented it here before doing anything else... And it quickly became: Why is he doing this? Does he want power? What's his end game?

Can you forget the circumstances of the matter and see the idea in itself? Give constructive criticism, not question motives. This topic is supposed to discuss the idea... So I beg of you, for us, the sad f***ers who can't find out how to create a decent ritual because all we face is randoms and non dmg rits, consider the idea.If you, as I, feel it's a good one... Work it out into a plan... Make it happen. Together...

I offer any help I can... Even if it is talking to people who I met during my stay here... Or bashing you all with sticks (including you Rhaegar, well, especially you, you stubborn git) until you stop your petty arguments and work on something together for a change, I'll do it...

I think you rushed a bit with the announcement... But that's just my opinion... There is a ton of people who won't read either the signpost or the forums, for that matter. So this should have been discussed and talked about more in the sparring grounds before implementation...

So you'd better start shouting and explaining as soon as possible...
