MD Awards 2011 - Nominations

This thread will be used to suggest the nominations for each category, scheduling stuff as well at the bottom. So yeah, this is for nominations, not voting yet.

Final Categories for the 2011 year. There are 14 award categories.
Below each category title is its' description. Below that is a list of people nominated for that award.

[b]Notes about Nominating:[/b]
Organisers cannot be nominated (Grido, Awiiya, dst, Peace)
You cannot nominate yourself, or an alt.
You may only nominate one person per category, where you feel appropriate please justify your candidate.
Winners from previous years CAN be nominated.
You cannot nominate those that are viewed of the same land as you.
For someone to be nominated to a category, 2 (or more) people must post suggesting they be added, with reasons. For someone to be removed from the nomination list, 1 more person than voted for the person to be included must post their reasons why the removal. So if 3 people wanted the player on the list, 4 others would have to speak against it, or convince the other 3. At the end of the time for nominations, if there are more people than places, the award organisers will discuss who to remove.


Adventuring Award
For the person most dedicated, or who perseveres most at quests. Not necessarily for completing, or winning the most.

For the person who is viewed as being the most villainous over the past year. The voter can interpret this in various ways, including but not limited to; most negative disturbance caused, most times sent to jail, most people peeved off by them, most ingenious/devious plan devised and carried out.

The Golden Protector
For the player who is viewed as performing the best in the role of protector(MP6) during the past year. The player does not have to currently be a protector. The voter should take into account the actions of the other protectors in the realm, rather than automatically voting for their own. Best can mean how helpful the protector has been, to how effective they have been in recruiting worshippers, this is at the voters discretion.

The voter should realise that even though they may not get on with, or have been helped by one of the nominees, this does not mean that the player is not indeed helpful.

The player must have created their account since last years awards and be between 20 - 365 AD at the time of voting. By progress it is meant a step towards a defined role or position (not necessarily official) within the realm, or integration within the community to a large degree.

I have attempted to write explanatory descriptions of each category, the feedback from last year indicated that people weren't entirely clear what each award was for. It is taken as a given that anything relating to the nomination of a person for a category has happened in the past year, and not before that, I did not feel it necessary to write it out in every single description.
If you can think of more enveloping descriptions for the categories, please suggest them, I would like the areas to be as clear as possible as to what they represent. You are also welcome to suggest renames for categories.


[b][u]Schedule[/u][/b]
Nominations will last 6 days, ending 9th Dec, then;
Voting, starting 10th Dec, again for 6 days, ending 15th Dec, or until 100 votes (whichever is sooner);
Awards Ceremony will then take place on 17th Dec.

[b][u]About Schedule[/u][/b]
- Nominations must be made by other people, you cannot nominate yourself, doing so can lead to being excluded from all voting and being voted for. This includes from alts.
- The in game voting system will be used, I haven't spoken to contact about this yet, but I'm thinking it'll be fine since we did it last year. Alt votes will be removed from said list and owner voting rights and winning rights removed. There will be a low AD requirement to be able to vote (To prevent people not knowing wth is going on, voting). You will not ~have~ to vote in all categories, but it is preferred.
Myself, Peace, Awiiya, and dst, will independently count up the votes, and match up numbers, to ensure that none of us are miscounting.
- Awards Ceremony will hopefully take place in Sage Keep again, wherever it ends up being, should be at 2000 server time Saturday 17th Dec, if there are any objections, please state them.
All players nominated will be expected to have some semblance of a speech prepared in case they win.
I will take a chat log (will post it in the vote thread), and also post winning speeches on md-archives.

Champion Fighter - Eon. This should be rather obvious.
Elite Evil Villain of the Year - Eon. Again, obvious.
Outstanding Service to MD - Eon. He has played his role so well, and used tools available to anybody. Through use of his skill damage and herb baskets, Eon has given all of MD a reason to actually work together, and that is why he has done a great service to all of us.

Best Spell Caster- Eon, for planning his attacks and then using certain spells to help himself to wins.

Champion Fighter- Eon, no doubt about it and no explanation needed.

I would like to mention that I feel that the nominations rules are unjust, due to the people of one land being ineligible to candidate one of their fellow citizens, especially without continuing the discussion that was started in previous threads about the issue.

i cant provide a full list of course, but i can make a start.

i dont know how old they are (except myself) but here are a few:

- Duke of Malfi (already in an alliance, dont know about role and his interest in researching the realm)
- Quas (see Duke)
- Guillak (i know from chats and other readings that he is very interested in the symbols of the realm)
- Zori Ca (thats me, 50 days old)

some words about me:

i am not a roleplayer or better: i dont take MD as a RPG. i think RL is roleplay enough. i am very interested in fighting mechanics but most important even more interested in researching the realm and its symbols.
i am not a citizen/in an alliance. i just cant decide yet. maybe i stay unallied and without citizenship forever. take me as an independent seeker for now. can this be a role?

Awiiya is correct about Ren and Mur (though I forgot to specifically put it in this thread) and Princ is correct in his pointing out about Awiiya and dst not being eligible.

Princ, point me at any post that mentions a complaint about same lands nominating each other. Voting is under debate, that I noted, nomination never was.

As for listing eligible people for Rookie award, I'm afraid that's something you'd have to do amongst yourself, as Zori appears to have done something for.

I have doubts as to me being active this year. Is the awards system to look at overall holistic activity and average trend, which include simple day to day conversations and walking around, etc? Or do you regard it more in terms of any instance of activity, in which an intense burst of activity is more important? If it's the first, then no. If it's the 2nd then perhaps. (I haz a lot of school stuff )

And currently it has not been decided as to the matter of voting for those of the same land, last year there was a complaint of in-house voting, and indeed at the initial part of the linked thread would tend to agree. The thread has since had other people post against that idea. Use that thread for discussions regarding though, not this.

Also, if I've missed someone nominating someone of the same land, please point it out to me so that I may look into it and possibly correct said mistake.



A couple of the awards now have 5 candidates, this does not prevent you from nominating further people. Do however suggest someone to remove if you wish another to be included instead.

I would quote you Grido and continue the discussion on the previous thread, but there's no point since the voting already started. I'm just saying that we should have at least talked it through, if there weren't more people who complained with their own posts against your suggestion, maybe it is because I've said exactly what they had to say, you're not Mur, you shouldn't be a dictator for MD awards, you're just a volunteer (however noble).

These two go hand in hand for him. In my opinion, his quests have been some of the most indepth and interesting quests that I have participated in MD, and he made all his quests using really advanced scripts that I have not seen in any other quest from anyone else to date. So both excellent and fun quests and also very techie in their creations.

(btw, go to the cabin north of wind's sanctuary and start some if you haven't done his quests yet).

I disagree with Jester's nomination for villain of the year, because his actions were not entirely in character and got him banned. I second the nomination of Eon as Elite Evil Villain, because he is a natural antagonist through his character's actions.

For Golden Protector, I second the nomination of Amoran, as she seems to be quite helpful to her worshipers.
