And the first idea that came through my head was how? a specific website? or what? What would be its purpose, what would it do?

Something similar to the Trigger box only with a play/stop button added in a corner or something, is what I've thought .. Hm, not on an external website.. Like the scene music in some locations only with an editable playlist (the songs in the pl may be added from Youtube for example, but not with the vid)

Purpose? Um.. get peoples ears unplugged from they're regular music they're bored of, and create a somehow of connection between players sharing the same songs in the same time xD

Songs will be picked randomly from more genres but it will mainly depend on 2-3 different Polls to see what people preffer ^^

Dunno, just some thoughts.

P.S.: Might even make a little post space so you can announce a dedication of a song to a player from time to time :D

Why not let people add a song of their choosing to a cue? To avoid one person flooding the cue with songs of only their choice, you could put a time limit on it. I.e., you can only cue two songs per day. If there's nothing in the cue then it could fall back on random, but I'd prefer random to not be the default.

Or, have a team of DJs with very varied musical tastes and have one "on deck" who is in charge of the station for a couple of hours.

Anything but random :P

It's possible to get bored of your music? O.o

Edit: Would this be Realm-wide, or vary from scene to scene?

Presenting MagicDuel Public Radio:

(Unfortunately, you'll need a Twitter or Facebook to log in.)

Hedge was concerned about privacy, and would like me to mention that you can change your username for privacy and no link is shown to the Twitter or Facebook account. It's just for authentication. Oh, and go to http://turntable.fm/ first to sign up if this is a concern, so you can change your turntable username prior to entering the room.

One word; Copyright.

As in, we don't have permission to have the majority of songs (some rare pieces aren't copyrighted) on MagicDuel. We get away with the scene music (to a certain extent) because it's hosted on Youtube, not MagicDuel.

Also, if that's not enough - Granos suggested something like this a few years back, he apparently had certain permissions with music, it still never happened. (I'll see if I can find the link)

LE: Oh look, searching "radio" on the forum found the topic; http://magicduel.inv...-radio-station/

LE2: And yes I do clearly remember forum topics from over 2 years ago.

In regards to Turntable, have to be from USA to use it apparently

Really it needs to use an external player, since it circumnavigates all of the copyright problems.Which im sure are numerous. If you can find a free "radio station maker" that allows anyone to add songs to it, will be great.

It was and still is just and ideea, I didn't say I'm going to work on it too. If anyone sees this ideea as "great" and would like to take responsability for it, go ahead ^^

What about music made by players? I myself play the guitar for example, and I am sure others also have some musical talents.
Maybe a place where you could listen to that music would be a nice thing?

Then, you could have music playing during events for example (maybe with Chrismas, people can make some Xmas songs, and they can be played)

Good ideea Marvolo, but you realise we need 20 songs at least right? :D

I also play guitar !

Here's one ! :D http://www.youtube.c...h?v=s24aeP2XwJg

This is great idea, but i'm afraid it is relative hard to find free external solution or implementation to the general idea that will work worldwide (not just USA). Most chance of realization I suppose we have if someone from here build the application (core and interface) and adapt it to general MD environment. External site can then be used for linkage of song database for example youtube or other.

I used to play a game called Kingdom of Loathing where they had their own radio, players were the DJs on a rotational basis. It was awesome. They played all sorts and did prize draws, there was a community chat on there too. Don't know how they deal with any of the issues brought up here, but they definitely have one and play well known (and not so well known) music.

Completely off topic: Pastamancers for the win, Zleiphneir. :P
Edit: Just to make it on-topic... I'm trying to man the stations on that website that amoran and falronn keep posting links on. Apparently you need to have at least one friend djing to be able to listen to your own music.

Bah, Mathmagicians are where it's at.

On topic:
I wonder, if you could just link to something like Last.FM and have players "radio stations" linked there? So you could "browse the MD player's channels" that way? Or Pandora, or one of those web-radio (I heart radio?) thingies? I don't use them, but have a friend's Last.fm playlist bookmarked for random musical background while playing MD sometimes.

To my knowledge, Pandora allows the sharing of stations, and I think Grooveshark does as well. Grooveshark itself allows choosing as songs, but I don't listen to it that much, so I am not sure on the playlist sharing.

Grooveshark allows one to add songs to ones own playlists, and for people to listen to others playlists. I dont mind creating a grooveshark playlist and adding songs as people contact me.

That would be neat, and I would listen to it. Let me know if you do?
