Kris Summers Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Hail fellow adventurers of the realm! I'm a relatively(<dost thou not just adore the overweening amount of awesome redundancy in that adjective?) new traveller in these fair lands, and I understandeth that adversity doth foster magnificence amongst men. It is however to mine concern, nay consternation, that quests purportedly mp3-friendly art not as sympathizing to newcomers as it doth claim to be. Aforementioned quests, that is "Fyrd's Lost Path" and the "Tutorial Campaign", all require mine passage through the grand gates of the Archive lands, an inconvenience which I doth lament not just for the inability to continue ridding that sordid blight on these otherwise fair lands which is the shadow army, but also because the archives art the epitome of learning for all rational beings, be it man, wizard or shade. Alas, the disproportionate toll beseeched by the gates hath wrought it impossible for me to quench mine unsatiable desire for glorious knowledge, for with 103 ap, pay I canst not. If I must wait, be it a month, 2 months, or even years, then wait I shall even as cruel eld doth snow down mine curly locks. However, I implore thee, Lords and Ladies of the realm, to perhaps shy from misleading assertions that certain quests art mp3-friendly, for it may irk newcomers to the point of departing forever from this wonderful world, and I do grieve for their cruel fate and their impatience which is their undoing. If I am wrong, please do decry mine ignorance and call for mine ignominy, for to err is to be human, and human that I am. Edited April 10, 2012 by Kris Summers ignnus 1 Quote
Root Admin Chewett Posted April 10, 2012 Root Admin Report Posted April 10, 2012 you should direct your complaints to those who made said quest. I raised an issue to Rheagar, creator of "Tutorial Campaign", who said his quest was not meant to be done in an afternoon, and more of a recurring thing. Something that required a participent to come back to later, when they could. ignnus 1 Quote
Burns Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Oh dear lord, you're worse than Tarquinus. Try to solve the quest of Willow's Shopkeeper first, i've switched all the archive locations in the first bit to outside. Fyrd just needs so many items, it's almost impossible to find so many scriptables outside of the archives, and still have them relatively easy to find. We could make quests using clickables you wouldn't find, but that doesn't make it that much better than having them unreachable... Some are just a few pixels big, you need to be told where to look to get a hold of those. Aelis, Watcher, Prince Marvolo and 1 other 2 2 Quote
Jubaris Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 My quest was made long before viscosity, so it was supposed to be easy to get in there, but, it is not impossible at all for young players to get into the MDA lands. It just needs a bit of game mechanic knowledge, so think of it as a challenge, my quest in particular is not a race so feel no pressure. I'll try to adjust few texts soon enough in my quest to make the participants aware of such things. Quote
Maebius Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I also would shamelessly suggest the "Tour of sorts" at the Park signpost, where you found the Tutorial. You may get tripped up with Heat, but it's also a MP3-friendly quest, and quite possible to do your first week in the realm. I agree though, that those MDA gates got rather "sticky" recently, much to my chagrin. Quote
Kyphis the Bard Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) If you use the free credits voteing links you can get through on your first day. Just need to save full AP and make sure you have enough time to do 20ish votes before the timer ticks over. Its certainly much harder when there isn't much traffic, but right now viscosity is at -80, so its pretty easy. Worst case scenario, there are players with a spell to teleport you into the MDA (although, the area they send you to has pretty thick viscosity, so it might take you a few hours to get out again) Free credits link is the last one in the links along the top. Edit: Oh yes, and while this is a game that enjoys a good RP, there is apparently some kind of rule that we don't RP on the forum. Good RP, but keep it in game Edited April 10, 2012 by Kyphis the Bard Quote
Kris Summers Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 Ah, friend Maebius, thanks to thy most amusing quest, I hath already quenched mine fire in the transquil waters of that fountain. My appreciations. However, it is to mine chagrin to discover the source of these waters, for consuming the oral amylase of the aquatic species may be to the detriment of mine anatomy. Would I perhaps, just as naive sisters of the ecumenical church believe that kissing blesses them with child, be impregnated despite mine musculature and dispense caviar? Thank ye all for thy timely response, and thank ye Eagle Eye for thy good will, though fortune's generosity doth not capitulate to man's wishes. I do not comprehend Burns' insinuation however, but if it hath to do with mine "thee and thous", well, "thee and thous" are fun hehehe. And to venerable Kyphis(no implications of senescence attached), the toll of the gates art 220 ap, and even if I do use these... mysterious free credits, I will still be 100 ap short. Close enough, methinks. Ah, but I forget myself, Wizard Kyphis, but let us both assume that I wrote this post before I discovered these... quaint customs of the forums from your post. ignnus 1 Quote
Kyphis the Bard Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Really? I just looked (and went through) And it only cost 120 (this is without land loyalty point modification, of course). Also, you can get a variety of consumable items that increase your AP as well. Fyrd actually has the ability to create some, himself, if you chat with him. Oh, and in regards to the whole RP on forum thing... I'm not a forum mod Personally, I like to see RP, where ever it may be. Just thought that giving you a heads up sooner would be better than later I don't really know the reason for the rule, you'd have to qweery the wookie himself on that. I very much look forward to seeing you around during the upcoming celebrations Edited April 10, 2012 by Kyphis the Bard Quote
Kris Summers Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Forsooth! Thank you shade, for thy relevation. Oh and I look forward to seeing you as well, hehehe. EDIT: Oh damn it, the viscosity suddenly turned to 124. Wasted my credits Till next time I suppose. EDIT2: IT CHANGED BACK TO 120! Hooray!!!! I got in, thanks shade. Kris Summers Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 @Kyphis funny because the next part of the quest requires your name, which means you've inadvertently aided me twice. ignnus and Chewett 1 1 Quote
Krioni Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Glad to see you made it through. The quests are great, enjoy them. Hopefully I will see you at the Root of the Matter Inn sometime, once you make it to Loreroot. On another note..the writing style is fantastic, I just had to say it XD And yeah. Viscosity is irritating, but it will just cause you to think a little more about how to get places or just have to wait for your age to go up. The former is the more fun way to go about it, such as using the free credits as you did to get through the gate. Good luck with the rest! See you around sometime. Quote

Well we have a lot of non-native English speakers on the forum, who I am sure find it difficult to understand what you are saying, please try to moderate it a little to make it more readable for everyone. Feel free to speak like that in game though, I only reference to forum language. Watcher and ignnus 2 Quote
Kris Summers Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 Actually, I'm Chinese, and my native language is a dialect called Hokkien Sure, you "can say things in hard to understand ways as well", however, please do not strawman my posts. While mine may have been a little harder to read for those less familiar with English, your little rhetorical reductio ad ridiculum was plain gibberish. I shall refrain from roleplaying(actually, i initially thought it was encouraged here) with great relish, but dumbing-down my use of language, which is hardly any more advanced than what is found in MagicDuel: is going abit too far. Not only does that insult me, it insults the readers of this forum. @Krioni, thanks XD, the quest are a far cry from other games, and I love how it's all constructed by real players. I can't wait to see you around as well. Pipstickz, Kyphis the Bard, Watcher and 2 others 3 2 Quote
Fyrd Argentus Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 MDA gate is the least of the examples of how changes have damaged my quests. In-game I blame the interference of Queen Esmaralda, trying to hinder my efforts to deal with the spirits, but since these quests were written, I've had to deal with implementation of viscosity, new gate penalties, closed lands, and removed clickies. Not to mention running into memory caps. I moved the starting point from the LP fountain to the hut, because nobody could get there anymore. All I can say is, be happy the quests still actually work (my road rallies don't anymore). It's all I can do to keep up. I will happily supply spicy pickles (ap boosters) to anybody trying to get past the MDA gates, or multiple pickles for anybody trying to go to the Far East to work on my wonderful lovely beautiful creative quest collection of puzzles, which is now buried under ugly horrible slime (viscosity). All you have to do is find me awake - which is a challenge of a different nature. Espartano 1 Quote
