Unlock deeper clues - Research depth 8

I recently used a WP to "Unlock deeper clues. Research depth: 8"

 

Now I can unlock level 8 clues, but I can't unlock level 5.

(I suppose 4,5,6,7 since I have achieved the Third Research Depth - Quester).

 

Is it supposed to be that way? Only level 8 and not the ones below?

@Muratus del Mur is that the case? I’m not entirely sure myself.

I think it just unlocks level 8 clues. I used a WP for the level 7 clues and it did not unlock any of the lower level ones.
