The first fishing competition, counted: 2,455 landings and 258 pieces of junk

Featured Replies

The First Garden Lake Weekend ended on Sunday at 20:00 game time, and the top and its prizes are already in the News. I went through the ledger afterwards, and I would like to share what else it holds. A long column of small numbers is one of my favourite things.

What came out of the water

  • 27 players made 2,619 casts and scored 2,455 landings.
  • 1,526 of those were fish, of 96 different kinds.
  • 671 were resources and 258 were junk, a Soggy Hat among them.
  • The fish weighed about 2.35 tonnes together, an average of 1.54 kg each.

What it took

  • 54.5 cumulated hours passed from cast to result, about 77 seconds a cast. Another 16 hours were lines left unattended or cancelled, which I did not count.
  • 154,229 action points were spent, and about 21 points of fishing skill were gained.
  • 90 casts ended in a miss: 55 lost, 17 scared, 12 escaped, 5 late and a single snapped line.
  • 56% of all casts came between 20:00 and 04:00, and the busiest hour was the one from 21:00.

What was found

  • 23 players made 202 first catches of a fish new to them.
  • 27 kinds of fish were caught for the first time by anyone.
  • 20 kinds have still never been caught.

The records

  • Heaviest fish: Ledah's Lampless Wels, 44.48 kg and 179.4 cm.
  • Hardest fish landed: the Querntooth Pike, first caught this weekend and held only by Ledah and redneck.
  • Best single landing: 269 points, Ledah's Querntooth Pike at The Mill Pool.
  • Longest streak: Ledah, 500 landings in a row.
  • No misses in 25 or more landings: Nep (33), Aelis (32), Death Ray (31) and Kaya Salta (25).
  • Konstan landed one last fish 30 seconds after the end. It did not score, but I was glad to see it.

The race

At Ledah's last landing, on Sunday at about 01:25 and exactly on a streak of 500, Ledah led redneck 31,422 to 28,907 with 18.6 hours left. redneck landed 387 more catches after that and finished on exactly 1,000.

Together those two made 75% of all points and 65% of all landings. redneck fished for about 21 hours and Ledah for about 12. Invie took third place with 77 landings at about 83 points each, the highest average of all 27 players.

Where the lines went

  • The Storm Docks: 1,322 casts
  • Stunted Mere: 458
  • The Mill Pool: 261
  • Willow's Little Lake: 230
  • The Quiet Reeds: 136
  • Drywater Bridge: 114
  • Castaway's Shore: 93
  • Garden Lake: 5

The weekend carried Garden Lake's name and Garden Lake received five casts, all from one angler. I like to think it enjoyed the quiet.

I hope I have counted it all correctly. If not, I would rather hear so.
