Root Admin Chewett Posted November 25, 2009 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) We now have a list of Forum rules to accompany the game ones. Please post below any comments on the rules or suggest changes. I will remove comments that i have read/dont help. So posts may disappear quickly. ------------------------------------------------------------------ There are two types of rules here. The first being a copy of the Terms and Conditions you signed upon registering. The second is a list of rules you should remember to stick by for future reference. Terms of Forum Use. Please take a moment to review these rules detailed below. If you agree with them and wish to proceed with the registration, simply click the "Register" button below. To cancel this registration, simply hit the 'back' button on your browser. Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. You are only allowed 1 (One) forum account. If you have mutliple accounts ingame you are not allowed to have one for each account, The forum is not for roleplay but for discussion about the game. Anyone found abusing multiple accounts will be punished greatly. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board. ------------------------------------------------------------------ These secondary rules are just as important and are designed to strike a balance between providing support and keeping a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for our community. These may change but when they do I will post telling you they have - each time I will highlight what I have edited. It is your duty to read them. Continued use of the forum after it's posted is noted as agreement to them. Any Breech of forum rules can lead to a warning or other types of sanctions on the forum and also in game for serious offences. If you are unsure about something please ask a forum Mod. The forum language is English, no other language is to be used anywhere on the forum except in the Translation section where you may post in the language that you are offering to translate the game into.Section 1 – Serious OffencesThe following things are not tolerated and will be removed on sight; Multiple forum accounts (‘Alts’). Posts for banned users- they were banned for a reason. Impersonating another player, for example by using their in-game names or avatars, or impersonating a mod or admin. Pornography, Politics, and Illegal contents, including links to such. Profanities, insults, or repeated harassments. Personal informations about the other users.Section 2 – Minor OffencesThe following things should be avoided, and may be removed; Posthunting (generating many posts to increase your post count, use edit instead) Bumping (the practice of putting a new post in threads to keep them in ‘New content’) Spoilers (note that hints and tips are allowed, but use the ‘spoiler’ tag for them) Backseat modding Repeated promotion for other games or spread of referral links (note that discussing other games in an orderly manner is allowed) SpamSection 3 – Non-offences that will result in a mod-actionThe following things are not offences, but mods might take action about them; Serious exploits should not be posted in the bug-section, but sent to bugs@.. , posts about them will be removed. Over-heated arguments (‘Flames’) will be closed and/or removed. When threads move away from their original topic, they will be split. Off-topic posts will be moved/removed as required. These rules also apply to PMs. Note that mods can see your personal messages if they get reported. Serious or multiple offences might result in a punishment, specially offences against Section 1. Bear in mind that subforums can have their own rules, so before you post there, please check to see if any are pinned and read them. Any Punishment, warnings or actions that a moderator may carry out may be discussed with them if you feel it is unfair. If an agreement cannot be reached you have the right to contact me so that we can resolve the issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Forum Signature Rules - Signature text must be in English - Signature pictures may not exceed following rules: Height: 150px Width: 800px File size: 50kb - Overall Signature Length must not be overly excessive on a standard Monitor. Since this is very hard to put a number on, if you have a larger signature you might want to contact a mod to see if it is too large. A good size on a 1024*768 would be at maximum 300px Height ------------------------------------------------------------------ Forum Gallery Rules - You must own the rights to the image to post it. It must have been taken by you OR be part of Magicduel so as to avoid any copyright issues - Anything related to Magicduel must not be overly spoilerish. Use your common sense or contact a mod to see what they think - All pictures must be family friendly. If unsure dont post it or contact a mod. Udgard
Question please. Root Admin Chewett Posted November 23, 2010 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 Max Width increased to 800px as long as it doesnt stretch the page (technically that will never happen so thats fine)
Root Admin Muratus del Mur Posted November 24, 2010 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 24, 2010 We should change forum rankings to avoid confusion , for example: forum rank "High Court Member" could be interpreted as council member so it should be changed to something more "forum specific". Root Admin Chewett Posted December 27, 2010 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted December 27, 2010 Forum rules have been clarified since there are many people who seem to not know this You CANNOT have multiple accounts on the forum. If you currently do pm me immediately. Any person using multiple accounts will have their warning level increased if they are found after a period of 2 (two) weeks. See above to see the clarified rule, it is in bold.
Root Admin Chewett Posted May 24, 2011 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted May 24, 2011 Forum Rule clarified - Impersonating players by using their ingame avatar, or using an ingame avatar that you do not own either by having it in your vault or on your character will result in us asking it to be removed, and may garner a warn level bolded currently in the set of rules, This comes to light as a player complained of this, and i felt it should be properly clarified. Root Admin Chewett Posted January 6, 2013 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) A reminder that alts are not permitted in the forum, especially if you just create them to vote in a new council poll awiiya starts. They skew the results in any poll, and since a number was only just created i can only assume that was the intention. These have been and are being dealt with. Junior
Question how or in what way would a forum post have to garnish punishment outside the forum. (Referring to the In game punishment) what I don't get is most of forum isn't conductive to in game abilities. I am having trouble putting it into words but I guess what I am asking is can anyone give me an example of when or where a forum post would lead to in game punishment, as I feel what chewett stated in the rules is to vague. Thanks

Thanks This is on discretion of Mur/Council for serious offences that the moderating team feel deserve some form of global punishment. This would include but not limited to serious offences that warrant a total banning from MD. Its unlike to occur, but shall exist in the rules for cases where it is necessary. Junior
Am sorry and I don't mean to be a pain but with the council changing every so often and Mur sometimes taking leave of absences I would like to implement at least some type of structure to that rule and diminish its ambiguous phrasing. So if we could come up with it as a unit or if you guys would allow me to make a rough draft and approve it, just so that we have some foundation and structure for future reference. No, There is no point attempting to specifically define all cases similar to defining all offensive words. Pretend it doesnt exist, It has never been applied nor is it ever likely to be applied. If you are going to do something so bad to the forum that you deserve an ingame punishment then the likelyhood is you are going to be totally banned from MD. Junior
You see this is the problem in MD. However thank you for your responses. Thanks
Root Admin Chewett Posted June 8, 2013 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted June 8, 2013 You see this is MD. Fixed :) Rules are constricting, To properly and fairly deal out punishment and reward you need a human element to decide. This is MD. If you want rules and laws, im sure the (IRL) justice system is interesting :) Kyphis the Bard

Change
One example of where that rule would apply is spoilers. If you would be banned for posting certain spoilers ingame, you shouldn't be able to escape that ban by posting the spoilers on the forums. But yeah. Reading the criminal code of your country is always interesting. :P You wouldn't believe how often it essentially says in the Canadian Criminal Code that you can use 'the crime was for the public good' as a defence. Burns
addition about promotion for other games talking about other games on the forum is fine. Promoting repeteadly other games here is not ok. 1) is harmful for seo reasons to post links t external sites repeatedly 2) if one does it, then many will spam forum with their referar links to other games, and i don't like the view of that would you get banned if talking about md events all the time on an others games forum? probably so...then why not here also? Thank you for understanding.
Ary Endleg
- Offtopic posts are allowed only in subforum named ‘Offtopic’. In light of recent events, I think this rule is bad. I don't consider topics in Offtopic subforum to be "troll" topics. I consider Offtopic subforum a place where you can talk about non-MD things. I don't see point of it being allowed to start topic in there just so somebody could start talking about something that doesn't even have 0,000001% anything to do with topic or is related to it in any way and then be told that doing that is okay. If topic is about World Cup then how the heck can it turn to discussion about Sir Blut's signature picture and nobody doing anything about it? Burns
Maybe you'll want to read the headline of the off-topic section again, it's neither troll threads nor non-MD, it's "conversations that have gone awry", so a thread that switches from World Cup to Brulant's signature is pretty much the definition of our off-topic section :)) Eon and Sunfire
Eara Meraia
but the change must still be a result of a "logical" flow of conversation, no? Otherwise I feel like I am in a loony bin of some kind...(see DDs last spamming posts) DARK DEMON and Ary Endleg
Root Admin Chewett Posted July 16, 2014 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted July 16, 2014 Offtopic posts are regarding those that are not MD.They must stay on their own topic, trolling or randomly spamming them will resort in warnings.
