So this bug has been mentioned a number of times and Mur has mentioned it is very difficult to fix. Is there any chance that the regen ability could just be removed or disabled until it is fixed? It's rather annoying to have a big fight with over 10k lost on either side getting a 100% kill and negative 20,000+ XP.

Just to recap this bug affects any attempted use of the regen ability (the creature attack, not the stat or the healing that happens between fights). No health gets added to any creatures when the ability is triggered however for the purposes of healing reducing XP the game thinks the healing has been done. Unlike actual healing since no healing is done a) there is no way to get that XP back during the fight (such as doing more damage to the people who were healed) and b) there's no limit to how much creatures can be healed... actual healing is maxed at the full health of the creature getting healed, life steal is maxed based on the amount of life the opponent has... but since no healing is actually done by regen it can just keep stacking up the negative XP.

i just entered forum to write about this

i attacked pdragos and after that i attacked him again if it wasnt just one time bug

some of my creatures are back to 0 by this

this is log from the second time when i attacked

i won 100%, but lost on each creature 4818exp

not to mention that if this would work properly, he would regenerate 1,5k vit twice each turn

that is bogus it is a bug well i am not fighting for a while not him atleast or anyone elsei find with a ritual like that

it is hard enough to gain xp but losing so much as i have been doing is makin my head hurt tryin to upgrade the little guys i have

So this bug has been mentioned a number of times and Mur has mentioned it is very difficult to fix. Is there any chance that the regen ability could just be removed or disabled until it is fixed? It's rather annoying to have a big fight with over 10k lost on either side getting a 100% kill and negative 20,000+ XP.

We need a response on this one. The few people using a def ritual of all trees are unfortunately taking advantage of this bug. I recently lost 45k vital points and 9.6k xp each for six creatures. I've seen others with similar reports. Let's get this one taken care of.

I know phrog how you lost that xp. You lost that xp to my friend No one. I asked him to put the ritual because I needed the negative xp.Me and other 2 players. I also advised the other players not to attack No one because he has a nasty ritual. Unfortunately he could not be online all the time so he remained in idle after I finished with what I had to do.

The regen bug is not a bug. It's a way of the game. I have the same 6 trees ritual and believe me that it did more good then bad. If you not believe me ask around.

I Hadn't noticed that Regen didn't even Give Health back....

So basically this Ability is just A headache unless you're trying to get rid of Exp....

In my point of view, the way regen ability is currently working is counter-intuitive enough to be considered a "bug". However, it is intentionally left unfixed as a way for MP5 to be able to reduce their xp. At the moment only a handful of MP5 can join alliances or advance to MP6, and the rest has nothing better to do than fighting battles, solving quests and competing in the heads contest, and the latter two don't provide a lot to keep playing for. The ability to reduce their own xp would ensure that MP5 players have something to do (training themselves and their creatures) while they're not aspiring for something else. The only condition is that they have to learn how to do so with the mechanisms provided.

I don't know; it's a pretty annoying bug that might want removal, because people in the lower mindpowers usually can't tell regen doesn't work unless the examine a combat log closely or someone tells them. It wouldn't be much of a problem if they knew, since they could just avoid using that ability and be fine (they don't get negative exp if the enemy uses it like in mp5; the regen just doesn't do anything).

And then there are those aspiring mp5s who aren't yet looking to reduce exp but rather train and upgrade creatures. I mean, I don't think there are a lot of mp5s who deliberately set regen rits to impede a new mp5's progress (since it can help veteran mp5s), but it can come up in random fights or when people like No One are helping others who want to lower their exp. No One's ritual can set you back a lot of exp, even if you avoid attacking him more than once when you discover it.

All in all I don't think it's too big of a problem, just a little irritating (and more sometimes, like if you attack a ritual like No One's) to those who encounter it once in a while. It could be avoided if there was just no limit to exp in mp5 (until chapter 3 and mp6 becomes available to all) thus eliminating the need for negative exp, but I think some would feel that only people willing to spend the effort as players do manipulating the regen bug should be given the privilege of being able to avoid an exp limit.

The best thing would be for another mindpower available to all, so we can finally let those who reach the max exp progress. :P Too bad, though, because it might not happen very soon. In the meanwhile, it should be added to the official ingame list of known bugs, and maybe the one on the forums as well.

I was expecting more from some of you.

Anyway, the only "bug" (if you like it so much) about regeneration is that it doesn't really increase the life of the creatures. Otherwise ... the same effect (losing exp and VP) is achievable by other means and those were available before the regenerations was set like this.

So, stop complaining about this so called "regeneration bug".

Well, I think you're right, but the fact thet you cannot "recover" exp by killing the regenerating creatures is really nasty. with my ususl rituals I don't care, but when it comes to training my joker, it remains at 0 exp all the time for this.

I think that the idea behind the ritual is good, but with some adjustments it would be better, I think...

Anyway, the game is not complete yet, so let us not complain about temporary things so much, they'll probably be fixed when time comes for a more complete version...

Not trying to annoy someone, but I think this issue is not resolved.

I recently created a new mp2 account and choose some lifestealer creature illusions (or how you would call it). This attack worked fine until I attacked several different players with tree regeneratin rits and most often (if not always) I received a huge exp loss for my elemental after WINNING a fight, needless to say my enemy did not deal a single point of damage, just regenerated. btw: you also loose value points...because your enemy is healing? both: makes no sense to me, really.

So many people reported this as bug before, someone in this thread wrote it's a bug but it would be difficult to fix.

Then recently, I only read this beeing a feature for mp5s to reduce exp.
But I say a bug is a bug is bug and turning bugs into features is not a good idea.

It won't really matter to me if you had some kind of control about it, but everytime you attack someone there is the chance that this one has setup such an exp trap in form of a regeneration rit and if you know it, its too late for you and you have lost a HUGE exp amount. this happened to me at mp3, mp4, too.

And then next time you better not try to attack this guy. Maybe better get some trees yourself and build an exp trap? hm, and someday no one is going to attack someone else, fearing heavy exp loss?
I dont like the way this could evolve.

So if some mp5 players needs to loose exp find another way for this and let not all lower mp-levels suffer from this bug.

For my part, I stop playing MD until this one is fixed, because this 'feature', which, in fact, is a reported bug, IS actually very annoying for me.

Maybe dst wants to say something special with that...maybe he suggests redsun has problems reading topics before posting in them xD

and i would be soooo glad if everybody had a tree rit set, it's hard to loose xp if you have only little time...

and redsun, of course there's always the chance of losing a battle, and sometimes, you lose more than vit, so put up with it or stop attacking random people ;-)

EDIT: yep, i've faced the problem myself, right when i started mp5, i attacked STF and No One, and all of a sudden, my two da3 (my best critters back then) were back to 0 xp, just to make sure you don't claim that i wouldn't know what i'm talking about, hitting the cap myself... i do know what it's like =D

MD ist great game, but this regneration bug greatly reduces the fun factor for me.
Where is the sense of investing time & devolping tactics to level up your crits, just to reduce creature xp to 0 in just 1 fight? Seems a little bit unbalanced too me.

Hm, is the only way to avoid this not to attack random players? I think, there are already enough restrictions for this (mp levels, sanctuary, dojo, etc.) and losing crit/players ve, vps is already enough punishment for loosing a fight.

and i didn't want to insult you in any way, it was just so funny that dst linked to the same topic xD

and a bug has to be there before it's a bug, so it was a game mechanism before it was declared a bug, right?^^

and mur wanted to solve that mechanism because it's really annoying sometimes, but on the other hand, if that bug was not there, he would have loads of mp5 who can't train critters anymore and would most likely leave the game...
and there are are not that many people who set such "xp traps" for their own private pleasure, there are only some who have them always and some who have them to help others losing xp, if you attack random players and avoid some like no one, dst, stf, anubarak ect.ect., you will win xp in the long run^^

and it's still a bug in most peoples eyes, but one we have learned to cope with and even exploit it whenever we want our players xp reset, there are worse bugs in the game -.-

your choices are simple: live with the bug and get angry when you meet a "trap" and write the player down so you don't attack him again, OR ask people before attacking them when you need some xp really bad, there are always those who are willing to help OR leave our community (that would be a loss, because you seem to be both nice and intelligent =))

ps: there are not that many people who are able to raise an army that will give you a massive xp loss, and losing 3k is not really that bad, is it? that only about 10 small wins ;-)

hehe, no one is insulted here, dont bother. just wanted to clarify that I've read most other postings/b** reports regarding this eh topic- and there are some to read.

hm, I dont know, writing player names down, appointing for safe battles, etc. that all sounds like a huge workaround for me. and furthermore, if I were this kind of player, I would setup a regen rit for defence and after a time even stronger player wont dare to attack me or perhaps I could attack players with such rit (havent tried this), and if I stick to this, I,m the player with most creture xp soon (just thinking). ok, everybody would hate me, but again if I were this kind of player... -na, I dont like this playing style.

and a ratio from 10:1 for the same xp amount to win - lose, i would accept 1:1 perhaps.
Just find another way to reduce xp for mp5 players and then do something about how regeneration influences xp loss, that is the thing I would suggest. I will leave it to the more active players and to those more involved to decide if this a thing that has to be done:)

well, who knows what mur is doing right now, maybe he has finally found a way, that madness state is really long now^^

and the ratio 10-1 is not that bad, after all you don't meet a regen rit every 20 battles, do you? i have met about ten unprepared in over 4000 fights up to now...but maybe i'm the exception to the rule xD

if the ratio win-loss was 1-1, the game would die out, simply because people don't have the time to find loss-partners for every single xp they want to win...
people just NEED regen rits with losses over 150k so they can keep on playing...

and, as you have surely read, there are ideas to un-set the cap for highest level, but that would lead the whole game ad absurdum...imagine you could grow and grow and grow endlessly, there would be just one reason to play: beat the high score...and that would destroy the whole 'life' of MD, making it a simple beat em up with gods running around and bashing everybody just for the sake of bashing people because they grow on bashing everyone...
with the system the way it is, you are (nearly) safe from god-attacks, because most people who are really strong know that the only way of growing stronger is beating strong players, bashing weaklings wouldn't give you the stat and xp reward you want to have for the player xp you need to lose again... it's kind of hard work to lose xp, so we want a good reward for the xp we gain again from winning a fight =D
