  1. How about naming the tree Loner since it is on the Path of Loneliness?
  2. Indeed that is why I put Too Many Wins rather then Too Many Loses even though I have more loses then wins. Not that it has done me any good the players at MP5 now have so many more loses then wins that you would need at least 500 more loses then wins to get any honor all thanks to the new system. The question was ambigious though but I interperated it subjectivly (do you have too many loses or wins then you want to have) rather then objectivly (do you have more loses then wins or wins then loses). The answer you give will depend on how you read the quest since only loses are good to have unless your MP3 and need 100 wins (100 wins right now is ideal any more is useless). Right now the Heads contest with its need for victories is keeping things somewhat in check but after its over everyone at MP5 and probably MP4 too is going to try and get wins for xp and loses for honor avoiding victories which incriment your wins counter at all costs. The only way to stop this would be to give a greater Xp bonus for balance or eliminate/decrease the Xp bonus for high honor attacks. Yoric while its natural to want to win as much as possible with the current system those losses will help you a lot espcially when you get to MP5 while wins are not good for anything now expect the MP3 to MP4 advancement and maybe showing off. The fact is that under the current system balance is not only not possible (or at least very difficult) its not desirable since as long as you have a lot more loses then some other player you can get a better Xp bonus then a balanced player ever could and you still get wins for your ceatures from just win attacks (not victories).
  3. I wanted to give the new system a chance before commenting on it but enough time has passed now. I think the new system ultimatly didn't help making the game anymore playable then it was before and just shifted the balance toward losses as Eldrad said would happen in an eariler post. Spam attacks are just as common and annoying as ever, at least at MP5. I think the best thing would be to do away with the honor system entirely which now just serves the purpose of forcing people to lose on purpose or at the very least eliminate the Xp bonus for wins over 200 honor while keeping the 2x Xp bonus for balance. That would at least incourage people to be balanced over just acumulating a huge number of loses.
  4. Like I said before I had the same problem with the avatars and my personal messages were not appearing when I tried to read them (I get a blank message scroll screen when I click on one). The problem went away when the game went on the temp server but now its back. I attached some screenshots to this message showing these problems.
  5. I've been pretty board with this game lately so hopefully this will be an opportunity to fight with people for real. Sign me up my in game name is Aqune. I would rather be on team B but team A is fine too.
  6. Seems to me the opposite would happen if you got honor for attacking stronger players then yourself and lost it from attacking weaker ones. In fact thats how it pretty much used to be with honor before the 'balance' system was implemented and messed everything up.
  7. If you look at the map there is actually 2 floating pyrimids above Akasha, the upside down one and a right side up one above it with the fire in the middle. It sort of looks like a double terminated crystal. I don't know if this helps its just an observation from the map. There are also 6 pages and 6 corrisponding pyramids on the mountain not 4 ,which you can also see from the map. Thats 6 + 2 = 8 Pyramids in total, maybe the other 2 pyramids are underwater if each is supposed to represent a principle. If she needs to write down the 6 principles that represent the fire in between the 2 floating pyramids on the 6 papers then I would say she should write the following: Elemental Principle (What the fire is), Light Principle (fire gives off light), Time Principle (becouse its slowed down), Entropy Principle (fire destroyes what it consumes), Syntropy Principle (but it creates light, heat and smoke), Balance Principle (Balance between Syntropy and Entropy). Also the the Book of Principles my not even exist since the wizard did after all send Akasha on this Wild Goose chase to get rid of her. From the Adventure Log (emphases mine): The pages still might have valuable info and the invisible ink theory seems to me the most plausible for now. The floating pyramids are also still worth exploring if she can get to them.
  8. I would find the stories easier to follow if there was an option allowing you to read all the entries of one particular story at a time rather then having them all mixed together and fragmented.
  9. Here is a copy of a forum message I sent STF about the riddle 2 days ago. Since he is still stuck there it must have not been the answer nevertheless I still think the answer is probably game related and you guys are being too philosophical about it: oh... thank you very much. i did not think of that. i will try what you said. thank you again
  10. Like Geckogirlie I find it distracts you from the main screen. I think it could be useful somtimes depending on whats in it and what you are doing in game. I think there should be a minimizer for people that don't want or that want to get rid of it for awhile. For that matter I think there should be an options/preferances menu that allows you to customize several things in the game such as sound, extra features etc. (that battle sound is really getting on my nerves).
  11. No Eldrad your wrong. I refer you to: http://magicduel.invisionzone.com//index.p...tive+experience where it clearly shows that when you heal yourself you lose Xp. The amount of Xp you gain from a battle is determined by the difference between how much damage you do and how much damage you take. So if you you do 66% damage and heal youself -66% you gain 0 Xp and if you heal yourself more then that or do less damage you will lose Xp. Likewise if you take 66% damage and the enemy heals themselves -66% then they won't get any Xp but if they heal themselves more then they hurt you then they too will get negative Xp. This incourages players to fight challenging battles rather then just pwning each other. Battles where both players take a lot of damage and the outcome of the fight is very close. Those kinds of fights are the best if you want to get lots of Xp and stats as well. Unfortunitly with everyone making defense suicide rituals they are very hard to get. So the attacker almost always wins to the defender and easily with little loses or even healing themselves. I wish things were like when this game first came out with people actally trying to defend themselves rather then using decoys on defense not to mention spam attacks. As for the spoilers the stuff about life stealers and chaotic attackers is stated clearly in Manu's tutorial 'Understanding the Battle System' in the 'Choosing your ritual' section so you had no need to hide it.
  12. Those are probably suicide defense rituals where they use a lot of protectors (water demons and/or animated trees found in Loreroot) to kill themselves off while you get healed. The amount of exp you gain from a fight depends on how much damage you take. If you take negative damage (ie heal yourself more then your hurt) then you lose exp. This is another stupid and annoying tactic players use to get loses for themslves while keeping their real monsters alive. The other posters advise you to do the same pretty much but if everyone were to do this then no one would be able to really fight anyone else and the game would be at a perpetual stalemate where everyone attacks and gets wins but hardly any xp for it. Yet another reason why the balance system is screwed up but I'm getting off track again. The only countermeasure against this tactic is to make a ritual with all pure attackers (armour, grasen, knators archers of any kind) then you won't be healed and therefore lose exp when you hit one of these suicide defense rituals. Of course using this tactic you won't get any healers or life stealers upgraded becouse you won't be able to use them but oh well pure healers are now completly useless the way the game is and as for life stealers they are only good for one thing. Life stealers are very good against powerful brute force type rituals with a lot of strong attackers like the Loreroot Gaurdians. So if you want to beat them try to get 1 or 2 maximium lvl elementals if you can do this you should be able to beat them easily if you include them in your ritual. Problem is elementals need lots of exp and wins for upgrades as well as time. You will need like 6 months to get them max starting from the elemental egg and that if you don't run into any problems. Adding to the difficulty is that elemntals will heal your creatures when stealing the enemies life so if you hit a suicide ritual you will lose exp. Anyway good luck beating the gaurds you will need it. Also right after you beat them go forword until you get to a place called 'Defensive Quarters' go into the building there and buy the best equipment there you can you should have a lot of extra Vp after the fight espcially if you had a lot of heat before it. If you want more information just read my Military ways and beliefs paper (its the one with two crossed swords) in the game. My in game player name is Aqune and you can usually find my around Willow's Shop. Oh and one thing I forgot to mention is that Xp is not a good way of determining how advanced a player is since you can only see their total creature Xp and not their complete historical Xp. So if they sacrificed any creatures you would see them as having less Xp then they actually would.
  13. I get the same errors so it's not just his computer and it started happening some time between when the new server was implemented and the 'go idle' feature was created (I forget the exact time) so maybe it has something to do with those upgrades.
  14. Yes it would be be nice to find players who need wins and then agree to lose to them but the problem is most players that need wins are in MP3 and most that need loses are in MP4 or MP5 and becouse of the MP divison those players are prohibited from fighting each other. Maybe the game should be changed to let players from different MPs fight each other? Or maybe change it so that at higher MPs 'balanace' is definded as a greater ratio between wins and loses so that at MP3 you need 2:3 wins:loses for balance at MP4 1:1 wins:loses and at MP5 3:2 wins:loses or something like that. I can see how you intended balance to serve as a check on older more powerful players but it doesn't work as you intended. Those older players just use suicide rituals (unless they are like me and refuse to use this tactic on purpose) to artifically increase their loses so they can be balanced forcing newer players up in wins while giving them little xp in return which keeps them weak even though the game thinks they are stronger becouse of their wins. Its also easier to lose on purpose when you have certain powerful monsters that new players don't have access to like the 'protecting tree' found in Loreroot. The result is that older players will have just as much advantage over newer players as long as they pump up their loses with suicide rituals. The game mechanics virtually forces you to use this tactic and the players that will benefit the most will be exactly those ancient players its supposed to keep in check becouse they have learned to use it the best forcing other players to continually try to lose for balance rather then fight for wins and xp. Keeping balance is not optional becouse if you don't keep it low honor will prevent you from attacking at all.
  15. The balance system was originally implemented to prevent players from massacring newbies and to make the game unique. However the way the game is now its impossible to get a balance without fighting to lose on purpose by using one healing creature suicide rituals. So I want to know is this the way the game is supposed to be played becouse if it is not there needs to be some major changes? I have tried playing the way Manu suggested by attacking to win but not stopping when my creatures are weak and I am losing but its just not enough. Stupid idiots just keep forcing wins on me with suicide rituals and I end up getting more and more wins with no xp or skill increases but they have more loses so they can gain by winning against weaker players in the future. That makes it impossible to play that way and ultimately newbies will still massacred becouse players will just build up loses before attacking them so they won't lose honor or go out of balance. The MP division keeps that from happening but then what is the point of the balance system? For people to try and lose on purpose to maintain it? I have resisted doing that until now but it looks like I will have no choice now but to finally give in and make suicide rituals unless something in the game is changed. Otherwise I will never get enough losses for balance which makes it impossible for me to attack at all. Maybe it could be made so there is some special advantage to having high wins and low loses or low wins and high loses just as there is now for being balanced. Remember an RPG is about giving players the ability to play different kinds of characters and not just pursue a single goal in a linear fashion. Honor could have been useful in this respect but it seems pointless now almost somthing superflous since it is good only to have positive honor becouse you need it to buy items and is capped in both negative and positive directions so its not even a good indicator for balance now. I know its still alpha and all but the sooner these issues are dealt the better since they determine the basic strategy that will be used in the game by players. I know evolution is supposed to be a big theme in this game and I think it would be nice if there was something you could evolve into rather then just pumping up wins and loses
  16. The 3 helmets in willows shop: Swift Lament, Bronze Helm and Crested Helm all give the same stat bonus +1 defense even though they cost very different amounts of value points. Shouldn't they also have different stat bounes to make them unique even if they costed the same number of value points?
  17. How many times can you replay the story? I'm asking becouse the last time I can do it I want to do it the best way, which happens to be the way I did it the first time rather then exparament with different paths just to see where they lead. I used to be able to go to Fenths Weilder and Champions Dome but now I can't becouse I tried a different story path last time
  18. This is great. Imagination, Darkness and Time is the exact combo I ended up choosing

Well mefisto said he thought they all were cool in a previous post so I think he has no preferance. However just to clearify I will list the alliance names in the order I like them the most so if Frozen Abyss is not chosen we can agree on some other one. So here they are from most to least favourite: 1. Frozen Abyss 2. Winter Phoenix 3. Angel Phoenix 4. Shadow Phoenix 5. Sapphire Star 6. Aerial Palace 7. Inferno Also for our additional members Thereef has already become part of chewett's alliance so you can exlude him and marco10176 has applied to the Heros of honor alliance so you can probably exlude him too which just leaves Hoganis and Morrighan for our 4th and 5th members. EDIT: Oops looks like I posted to soon so Mefisto does then want Frozen Abyss.

Of my 7 suggestions I vote for Frozen Abyss. It was my first choice and is my favorite. I am still willing to listen to anyone elses suggestions if they have one. However once we decide on a name for this alliance anyone is free to use the names I suggested for an alliance they start. I think they are all quite good and would be happy to see someone else use them. For anyone who doesn't get in to this alliance they can try for chewett's alliance since he is still recruiting. His alliance thread is called 'warrirors alliance' and I don't think he has decided on a name yet.

Actually you can start an alliance with more then just 3 members. Dark Side started theirs with 5 members which is the maximium number an alliance can have at this point in the Alpha I think. Ok here are my 5 suggestions for the alliance name 1. Frozen Abyss 2. Aerial Palace 3. Inferno 4. Sapphire Star 5. Angel Phoenix or Shadow Phoenix or Winter Phoenix I guess thats really 7 but oh well

I was just making a suggestion for the name since you asked for one. My in-game name is Aqune. Can't you see it, its in the left hand column under my forum name right under the member number. It says 'Playername:' right beside it.

I'm interested in joining your alliance. For a name how about Frozen Abyss? Maybe King Manu even has a snowflake symbol or something like that.
