Omg! I just realized that the pic Mur posted shows a guy killing a clown! WHY? But WHY? You clown haters and killers!!! Also...I have an idea: mugs with GG drachs and mugs with Winds. You can have the second one after you break the first . Or you cannot have the second if you don't have the first . And if you have the GG mug and you get the rusty you also get a <insert bonus here> which can be a cookie

I had to resurrect this topic. I just finished a trilogy which was absolutely amazing! Try them! The author:Stieg Larsson And the books: * "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" * "The Girl Who Played With Fire" * "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest"

I want something else (and I am very very tempted to get it done by Christmas time). So...something like the MD dragon Mur has as logo on the right side of a black T-shirt (the dragon should be gold of course) then my decalogue written next to it.Then on the back, again, written with gold the address of the site. Just because I want a personalized MD T-shirt. Oh...a nasty one would be to put my avatar, my tag and my description on a T-shirt

I found pigpen by pure coincidence . I was looking for something else and found it. But from there...I had no clues what to do next...and it was soo easy...

Yeah, yeah, yeah . I am the infidel! But don't cook me! I am sour! And bitter. And Grido...next time no more pics for you!

Rhah, I must admit: I envy you: you have the most amazing sense of balance! You were leaning forward at a 30 degrees angle and then come back to the initial position and all that without falling on top of the table! Wow! Just wow!

I did not mean you! Damn! You spoiled the fun .

I managed to attend the meeting . How it went? Hmmm...I will let the pictures talk. If you are lucky enough you might see also some short movies Which I must say...are really really fun to watch And now a small teaser (all persons in the pic are MD players - try to recognize them)

Imagine this: you try a quest and you fail. Or simply don't get the wp cause you are too late/etc/bla bla. In this case you can be mean and give the quest a bad mark. Not to mention that you can give bad marks to quests even if you don't even try them. So I agree that the rating should be provided by the ones that solve them. Not by everyone. Or we can grade quests on the forum but not in the game ( I mean for the ones that don't solve them). As for that link: of course I know it. But you cannot use it right now so...we can say that it's not there.

I wanted to write this topic for a long time but I always delayed thinking things will change. So the issue is with some of the current quests. For a while now we have almost 2 types of quests: 1)Write an essay on which side of the bed the grasan sleeps 2)Spam..aaa find player x then find player y then find the place where the grasan drinks his morning coffee and PM the quest creator. The first type of quests are ok as long as you don't exaggerate. But let's be serious. Some of the subjects for the essays are pure stupidity. Not to mention that I feel like this kinds of quests show that the ones who put them are lazy. Pff....and then they call themselves quest creators! It's the easiest way out: Yay! I have a quest! Write me how I brush my teeth in the morning. I will not give name. They know who they are. I understand: in the past the RPCs were under a certain pressure to put quests up but now there are no excuses. Also those kind of quests are highly subjective. And they encourage "I wash your hands and you wash mine". The second type are ok as long as you give some decent hints. But writing vague things that apply to 20 players is not good. Imagine that I spam all those 20 players. Then 5 more players spam the same 20 players. For those 20 players it will be highly frustrating. And for the ones spamming. We have the tools now. Don't go putting up quests just so you can give out the wps and to get the shiny goldly Q doc. It's not mandatory to make a quest as soon as you get the wps. They will not go away if you don't use them. Just do fun and interesting quests. I was even thinking of making a sub forum somewhere (ok...I was going to ask Chew to do it ) where we can grade quests (since we are graded when we solve quests but for the moment we cannot grade the quest creators). This will hopefully give us a image of what players like/think/bla bla. Oh...and if you are wondering: I did my share of both quest types. Did I enjoyed them? No.But that did not stop me from doing them if I really wanted that WP. Don't get me wrong: there were quests where I had to write essays but they were good. I can give examples here but it's not the time. Not yet. So I am wondering what types of quests do you like.

Nahblard: I am not the one who set the standards for MD.The way to play the game kept certain types of players while the others got bored or frustrated and left. I do like the current status. And I will tell you another story: Few months ago someone showed me another online game. It looked nice. I started to play. It was a good game. But it had a major flaw: the players. It was almost impossible to talk to most of them. They were rude. They lacked the basic common sense. The game was playable without too much player vs player interaction but it was no fun from this point of view. Even now I still want to play it but every time I start it I exit quickly cause of the bad karma it has. The conclusion? I prefer such an elitist medium to a mediocre one. You have the chance to improve yourself by talking to smart people. If you want just a hack and slash game or a click to advance the Internet is full of them. I always say: there is at least one option: to go away. It's each one's decision. You say I am a powerful player/bughunter/forum mod. You're wrong. I am just a player.I was punished just like everyone else when I did wrong things. And I was awarded when I did good things. For me doesn't matter if you are Loreroot INC's CEO. If I have something to say to you, the titles will not stop me. That is the problem with MD: you all see something players as gods. They are not. They are just normal players. Some of them got to that position simply by buying their way up. I will not go into details because they are not significant. So, stand up for yourself. What do you have to lose? It's a game after all. You can always come back with a different character. Honesty...hmm...why do you think I am the bad guy (well...girl) in MD? Not only for certain things that I did but because I don't hide my feelings. I will tell you if I hate you or like you. The bad part is that I like few people (yes...that's one of my flaws) so I don't have friends in MD (ok...i think I exaggerated a bit...maybe I have 2 or 3). There are 2 kinds of players: the ones that need me so they act like my friends (no worries, I know who you are and if I played along doesn't mean I am stupid) or the ones that fear/hate me so bad that they stay away. @Daemon: You have the LHOs to guide you. THEY are the books you need to read. The only problem is they are "special books". You need to ask the right question in order to get the info you want. See, there's a trick to this also. It forces you to interact. It forces you to think before asking stupid questions. It forces you to think when you receive an answer that is not always blunt and straight forward.
A well written guide does not tell people what to do but helps present options and correlations between ideas so others may better be able to understand and take free action themselves. I also disagree that guides would make people bored and thus hinder them from interacting and making friends. People choose to not interact and make friends. It's not hard for them to stand around and talk and make the effort.
A guide is a guide. Otherwise you can call it riddles book. You have to understand that it's not the game's goal to make you take the best decision. It's simply about decisions. It forces you to evaluate all your current knowledge and decide. For example: What will you do if a girl asks you to play a game? You have to take that decision based on the info you have up till that point. If you would knew from the beginning that by taking a certain decision you'll end up dead in Necrovion would you still take it? When you also know that taking the other will open the Drachorn Layer? And another example: Would you recruit let's say...creature X if you would know it is worthless at a higher level? Would you not recruit 10 creatures Y if you would know they are amazing at level 3? Would you level creature z knowing that at the next level it sucks? If those guides would exit then the multiple story choices would be useless. Don't tell me that you would not choose the paths that will open Necro and certain parts of Marind Bell if you would know which decisions to take at what time. This is one of the main reasons alts are allowed. You have the option (see? another one ) to replay the story as many times as you want BECAUSE this is one of the ways to find out what the best choice is. You already have in the news box some hints. If you take the time and read them you'll learn a lot. Then you have the announcements.98% of the players don't read the announcements. You have no idea what a source of info the announcements are. But few bother to read them (basically cause they are so many and some of them are not that important or they are not important for everybody). Let me resume: you have the hints in the news box, you have the announcements, you have the LHOs, you have the battle logs, you have the adventure log and you have also the forum. As for the forum: if you know where to look you'll be amazed on how many things you'll find there. But again...few read it and few even bother to use the simple function called SEARCH. There are even some small FAQs put in place by old players. I agree: part of the info in there is outdated but the basic is still there. Do you really need more guidelines? If so then...maybe MD is not the place for you. Oh and one last thing: you can always ask anyone. The worst thing that can happen is that the person to whom you send the PM will just ignore you. But don't ask for an official guide. I doubt we'll ever have one. Damn...this is a long post so I will stop...for now.
-
Yeah...maybe you're right. I tend to read all the posts and try to reply punctually. So now what? I'm not even a good troll? Anyways, my goal was reached. Too bad MB spoiled the fun too early. And if nobody else has anything to say I will close this topic.

I have decided to fill in the empty spots. So..do you have what it takes? Read my first post before posting here, please.

Well...I am not bored and I might delete your post for spaming

Drats! I wrote half an hour a loong and calm post. Then I erased it. So:MD is a hard game. Yes, it requires patience. Yes, it has filters. Yes, it is an elitist game. Yes, it has players like me who yell and shout at every player (no, I don't shout only at new players: I shout at everybody who gives me a reason). But it gives you something you'll never ever find in another game:freedom! You are allowed to do whatever crosses your mind. The limit is indeed your imagination. Are all those (patience, filters, elitism) a high price to pay? No. I say a big NO!. There are lots of wrongs in MD but there are also many more great things to compensate. MD is not the game where you have specific goals to attain. You have them but they are few and after probably 3 months you can reach them all. MD is about creating your own goals. If you don't do that you'll get bored and leave. MD has no walthroughs, no help pages, almost no hints. It's the best like this. Why? Cause of the above statement. Imagine this: you register, go through the tutorial and then you are given all the information you need (game mechanics, crits levels, etc, etc). You will be bored to death in a week. You'll not have time to make friends, you'll not have time to integrate yourself. Also, if you get discouraged by a member who yells at you (aka me) then you're not too <insert the word I want to but fail to remember>, are you? Let me tell you a story: I was a noob. Back then Wodin was the star. He was arrogant and full of himself. I used to love stepping on his toes! I wanted to be better then him. I wanted to make him cry . So, instead of running away cause big bad Wodin stole my toy I defied him. I started to learn, train and in the end I defeated him. I don't quit cause of players! If you do then you show weakness. You need a backbone to survive in MD. I told you something mean? Be brave enough and reply. I might hate you for that but at least you may earn my respect. Again, MD is full of hypocrites. So I prefer a honest swear then a nice a**-kissing. Bah...I am bore to write those things again and again and again... One last thing: BURNS!!! I am not OLD! *undresses the troll costume and throws it after Burns*

@baiano: writing every 3 posts that the archer has no targets it will not solve the issue. All it will do is probaby make me delete some of your posts as spam.

It seems MB blew my plan away I did a test: I chose a sensitive subject and I said almost all the bad things I could about it. I knew I will hit egos and I did. You have no idea how much fun I had yesterday writing and then reading your replies. I was a troll and you all took the oportunity to releas your wrath . I do this from time to time. I like to see what egos I can touch and in what way. I did it in the past and it helped me a lot. When they are provoked people get angry and speak their mind (rare case in MD if you ask me cause most of the players are hypocrites ). MB... thanks for blowing my cover as a nice lil' troll. @Wofmister: you still have that warning
-
I have alts that are on the active veteran's list...So active days are not a good criteria.
-
Wolfmister: who died and made you head noob? You know there is always at least one option: exit. Don't like it, don't play. Crush your creativity? Are you kidding me? When I don't follow rules I am yealled that I don't follow them. When I do follow them and tell you you're spamming I get yealled at for "crushing the creativity". I suggest you re-write your post and remove the insults. I never insulted you. Oh, and I almost forgot:you have a warning.

After writing a biiig post I deleted it. You know what? Why do I care? After all I can ignore all this RP cr** and live my life without it. I am tired to repeat myself and try to prove something that everyone knows but it's easier to ignore it then to confront the truth. You want to call MD a RPG? Fine, do so but don't start whining you got beaten when you call yourself a RP-er.And stop accusing players of bad RP-ing when they are not interested in this aspect of the game. And stop praising the RP system so much. It's a total <insert bad word here>. You only do it cause Mur said he wants a RPG. If he would say he wants a fluffy pink butterfly you would be praising the wings of the butterfly . No, it doesn't always work like that: testing and then copying. Certain rituals have more then it meets the eye. Remember dead birds? Remember ghost? And a highly used rit : trees on regen. As for testing rituals:I fail to see the relevance of your question.

Storm, take a look on the wishpoints chart: even not all first 10 players have 10 wps and you want to give them 6? I would double think if 1 is not too much. Give them something else but not wps. That will spoil the hole WP idea.

First:I said I might call it a FPS. Too bad I cannot put a big sign called Irony on some of my statements. Second: don't put words in my mouth. I never said the fighting system is perfect. Hell! It's faar, faar away from that. It was almost perfect BTE. I said it's better then the RP system. Waaay better. And nothing can change my mind. To be honest I have no problem with the so called RP. Except the moments I read stupid stuff on the forum about how marvelous RP is and how awful grinders are. And I hate whiners:mommy, that bad guy has destroyed my rit, has stolen my heads and spanked me. Oh...and he/she stole my lollipop! And since that person gets frustrated he/she changes to RP. I always said: fighters/grinders are waay more better RP-ers then RP-ers will ever be at fighting. For me they are just players that have no clue how to put up a decent ritual so they hide behind: I am an RP-er and I don't need to fight! BUT...you see them at GGG leveling their crits. That's pure hypocrisy! You say that there are just few good rits? How wrong you are... Just ask for the logs of the last fighting contest. You'll be amazed how many possibilities there are. I haven't had so much fun in months: the thrill of finding a counter for a really new ritual is amazing. And now, with the new abilities of the old crits I expect new and fun things. ps: I still believe my idea with commenting fights is the best for RP fighting
That's exactly why I play MagicDuel. Not because it's not an RPG, but because it is not the common RPG I am used to. I play because it is an RPG with a community that actually role plays. PVP is certainly a large part of the game, but it isn't the game. And it is not what keeps me here.
YOU PLAY? I have seen you maybe 3 or 4 times in the last months. Just logging in is not playing. There are several so called players that log in just to get their active days. Nothing much. And if you log in and sit in a deserted place "researching" is not playing either.
I may be an exception, but I know of very few grinders. I know they are there because others are constantly complaining about them (I'm not sure why; they don't harm the game), but I don't know who they are.
This comes to support my above statement: you don't really play...
You're right, there really isn't much of a role play system. But then again, there isn't much need for one. Just because we can hardcode specific rules for combat, that doesn't make it superior. It should be a part of MagicDuel, but I pray that it will never supersede the whole. MagicDuel is a microcosm, not just a battleground.
Yes, the all time:"we don't need a coded system cause we have our freedom". Then why is HC so popular? Why are the shop crits so wanted? Why is everybody at the GGG training all day? Why do even crits exist? You can do just fine without them. After all you have your personal papers and the mighty asterisk feature (off topic:I just realized...nobody make a poem about the asterisk , yet they made poems things less important then this...). You know, with battles is simple: you CAN become better and if you want you can defeat any player in MD. But with RP you have the god mod-ers and the new thingy Udgard wrote somewhere (bunnying I believe). And you simply cannot stop those players that are doing it. What was the response to this? RP training sessions. But how will you force a player to change his RP style? You cannot. So I see this as the major failure of the RP "system".Not to mention these trainings are subjective. There is no recipe for RP-ing! There are maybe just common sense rules. But if someone doesn't accept them then again, you cannot do anything about it. Ha! I just had an awesome idea for "melting" both RP and battles. Check this: you fight a battle with someone. Then save the log and start commenting on it: I invoke the power of <insert deity here>! *<deity> grants DSTs 5% power making the tokens 95% effective.* Caw 2 activated on my grasan. It gives me 34000 attack points. I do haotic damage on <insert player name here>'s aramor. Aramor gets xxxxxxx damage and remains with yyyy life! Ha! Got your aramor! etc/etc

Hmmmm...let's see: 1)Time and patience is MDs middle name. It's a strategic move. Imagine you could level your crits wow style (or what other game you can think of) where all you need is to give them experience. In 1 week (with GGG and SG) you would have all crits at max. And then what? You have no idea how they work, what they do, how to use them (don't tell me a noob knows why a grasan is such an amazing crit). You'll get bored and leave the game. MD is an endurance game where patience is the most prized of the virtues. You say you get beaten by old players. I had almost the same issue when I started to play. And there were no SG and GGG back then. So, I had to adapt. I had to learn how to protect myself and I learned how to grow, what crits to use and what players to avoid (at least until I became stronger). Noobs do not need to grind. If you say they do then you have no idea what grinding is for MD. There were days when I fought around 500 battles and got almost 400 stat points. THAT is grinding. Not the 50 battles you need for whatever crit that will level in 2 weeks. 2)It is Pokemon style because you need different crits for different things. BTE (before tokens era) rituals were the ones that counted. And back then even a noob was able to defeat the strongest player. How was that noob able to do it? Strategy. And of course at least some knowledge of the game mechanics which is not that hard to get IF you take a minute to read the battle logs. Even now(when there aren't much things to see in it) I really enjoy reading the battle logs because you never know when you spot an interesting thing. 3)You don't need to get to Loreroot for quests. Most quests are designed so they can be solved by new players as well. And getting to Loreroot is a quest itself. Try solving some of the quests listed in the Q list. I agree: right now most of them really really suck but from time to time you can find a fun one. Also there are players that put up quests which are not in the Q list but they use the forum or the mood panel to advertise it. So saying you cannot do quests because you cannot enter Loreroot is bs. Try solving broken pattern if you get bored. You get a wp for it. 4)Forum is NOT for RP. You have the game for that (as you have been told - and I think I was the one who told you about the spam thingy). You wish to write? Perfect! You have soo many personal papers you can use. If everybody would put their stories in the forum then the game would become the forum. That's not the purpose of it. The forum is designed for something else. Yes, you can use it to make yourself known. But not to "play" on it. 5)MD Shop is the life support machine for MD. Without it the game would probably not exist. You can play without the features in the shop. You can enhance your character without ever touching the shop. One thing you cannot do without the shop: be the strongest player. But as most of the RP-ers say (some of them are really hypocrites but that's just my opinion) MD is a RPG (*rolls eyes*) so you don't need to be the strongest. Ugh...I'm going to the twilight zone again and I don't want to so I will stop with this. "Click a link" you say? THANK GOD there is a click a link. And you want extra credits? Win HC. Do something amazing that would wipe Mur of his feet and you might get some rewards. Attend the festivals. Solve quests (some of the players give credits as rewards). There are ALWAYS possibilities. All you need to do is ask. 6)There are several "buddy-buddy" systems. Not exactly what you want but they are. And the first one is the LHO system. They are there to help you, to guide you, to teach you. And I must say that at least from the combat system you have 2 of the finest fighters as LHOs. They can teach you tons of stuff provided that you are willing to learn also for yourself. We have a bad habit here in MD:we like secrets. And we don't like revealing them to everybody from the start. They must prove worthy of them THEN they will receive hints and guidance. Another system is the adept thingy or the worshiper. Usually the "masters" help their worshipers and/or adepts. You must understand that you need dedicated players for "buddy-buddy" cause not everyone is willing to teach a noob. I, personally, don't have the patience to do it. So for me it would be hell. And I know several others who feel the same.
