The Lands of the East aren't only made up of screens with my name in them, pick another one.
First of all I am not picking a place for the market. After all I believe it is not something I am able to do on my own. Like i said I'm only presenting an idea.
I only mentioned that place because of what Akasha said. If it was up to me, I wouldnt go so far from NML
I am not interested in discussing this matter further more. I believe i presented this idea clearly enough, hopely it wont cause any more misunderstanding.

2. Thank you Akasha
Perhaps Jesters Streets in Lands o East can be fitted to be a market. My only concern, -I agree with Shantu- is people. From what I've seen MD people dont like to travel so much. Half of them are at GGG all the time.
Anyhow, when this location is completed they will need to go there to shop, there will be no more forum space for trading, I mean, thats the whole point of this discussion. To put MD market where it belongs.

3. Before reading: Im not saying we cannot use a place it already exists on MD, there are many places that could be used the same way. Im just using this image as an example on how the md market could look like, so it can be easy to shop and also attractive to visit

Please notice It’s just an idea. Im sure there are plenty of elements Im missing

You might visit the location and just start clicking on different doors/stands. Each one could have different shopping options: raw materials, unique items, creatures, drawings, services, special offers etc, each click might open a different blackboard.

The location can also have a central building to click on to find out about live auctions squedules…

The main idea is to people to meet there, discuss offers and prices and bring back the market to the game it self.

4. @ Orlando and DarkPriestess
I like the idea of a No Mans Land location for the Central Market, it will remind the No Mans Land Caravan, our first market experience(btw I personally feel NML has been a bit neglected, so for me it fits quite well)
Well of tears sound good, perhaps we could vote later on.

@ phantasm
Thank you :) but I dont think I have a talent for it... just do it for the fun :D

I think the hole concept can be a bit more complex then just a blackboard with a list of items, creats and bids... hmm a bit more like a window shoping thingy, anyhow I will talk to people who knows about these type of things before I make my sugestions about this matter.

Regards,
K

5. Thank you for the sugestions :D
@ Tarquinus
I haven't thought about the location yet, but outside Willow´s Shop seams ok.
I believe we should consider a big/open space, after all it will be MD´s Central Market.

@ Kafuuka
I agree, bids should be a week fresh. I hope the blackboard system wont be so hard to manage.

6. A market with a real location

Posting offers at the forum and just waiting how it goes can be somehow appealing for people, especially because most of MD community have different time zones and cannot see each other as often ingame.

Although shouldn’t the market be on MD? I mean, shouldn’t be like a real location?
I have spoke with some people about this subject, and it is not such difficult to make a location with some sort of interactive blackboard.

Creatures, items, jobs, info trading migh be something we should be discussing ingame, instead of the forum.

I consider this something that could be enriching community public spaces for MD, I hope you can give me your opinions in this matter.

Thank you
K

7. I totally agree with Udgard, RP is supossed to be fun, no reward is required.
About items, like I have always said, items are made to be USED, hoarding its not something to be proud of.
I've read many items will start to appear on MD quite soon, hopely they are to be used and dont become priceless and just collective objects too.
Regards,
K

[From what I seen apparently No Man's Land wont receive items, cause of the lack of royal authority... not too happy about it]

8. The slave auction was trully a fun event, but as I recall it generated a lot of disconfort related to profits.
I agree that if it becomes into some sort of contest with prices it migh be more interesting... I would gladly offer some cratures as rewards if this event takes place.

K

9. Im sorry Im not sure If i understood...May the tool renting can be used for raw material extraccion? That will be interesting. :)
There could be locations for renting different types of tools, accordingly to the sort of raw materials located in that particular land or area.
On the subject of Economy... There will allways be people trying to abuse, I would recomend to create certain rules or limits to prevent people from abusing, hoarding etc.

I would say, give Economy a chance :D

10. I do believe that the item's creation, and later, the item trading, should be something that involves lots of people not just a few. I know some people believe hoarding is something that we should respect, but I would say hoarding only makes people less and less interested on the items market.

I consider that the hole idea of extraccion/creation/trading should be very diverse and complex and involve as much interaccion from the MD community as possible. This could sound too idealistic, but I believe it is the only way to make it really interesting.

During the firsts auctions taking place on MD, I as a merchant never hoarded and it was fun, we where able to emulate a market fair, and many people could participate because the prices wherent so high. I dont know... maybe I have a different aproach on this... all Im saying is that REAL ACCESS to the market and item creation its required to make it interesting.

Regards,
K

11. Hoarding has always been a problem, even before the md market spread. We discused this long time ago as I recall
I agree on the idea that raw materials/resourses should be more easy to get for any player, it can be realated to locations (wood to lore, metal to GG... just an idea) so people can extract them.

poems of locations lost its meaning, nobody cares for them, signs at entrance to each land... huh? who reads it? afaik story mode was also only one that made connection of creats with us, today in md... in everyday rp how often do we have creats involved for anything? players are merchants, warriors, not circus tamers or TCG cards owners, why do i say that? simple.. creats are those days to rpers second part of game..
story mode and AL got fully replaced by papers and "casual rp" of all sorts....
poems and lands descriptions mean nothing, everyone has same opinion about every location and acts same, all they care is if location is crowded or is it remote one, thats all
principals.. another stat to grind till 1k and thats it
inner magic and background story.... wot are those?
creats? ah thats some side game inside real game to one kind of ppl to another they are whole game
this is current situation about those things in md
(...)
but lately md is getting more and more automatized, and kinda more and more towards game that is actually click to advance
idk and idc wot ya will say but i am one of those players that like revealing mystery, i wanna know wot happened next in story mode, i wanna know about inner magic and principals uses, i wanna know meaning of storymode story, meaning of AL since it had its message to tell each time, i wanna know meaning of poems, i wanna know more about creats, many creats dont have description, some creats like barren soul contain description that is related to ancient lore which got banned, and many more things, i cant think anymore if i could i would most likely wrote more, this is all i have to say for now
I totally agree. MD's mysteries have to become more important and they should have continuity. When I have spoke to newcomers they are trully interested in knowing more about principles... about Marind...ancient Lore and many things I wish i knew a bit more. I would say the game logic has the tendency to make you become a bit alienated, specially because it is quite hard to get people atention in subjects wich has nothing to do with creature training.

Maybe if diferent locations would give alternaitve power to creatures during a fight, people would be interested in finding the reason why is that happening in that particular location... I dont know, Im just speculating.

Anyways, I do agree it is necesary to get MD all community involved with MD's history and mysteries, so it can continue to be a unique kinda RPgame.

The crafters will be glad to help with the market stuff (actually, I was wondering where you are and hoping you'll be showing up again soon). And there's still a bunch of unpublished raw materials as well xD
That's great! thanks Udgard.
Please tell me the best server time for you and the crafters so we can arrange a meeting.
If anybody else wants to be in it please do the same.

welcome back Kriskah Arcanu :D glad you've returned

btw, I will just let you know that a player called Shapeshifter is doing monopoly on items, and plans to make a market of his own, so you should contact him as well
Thank you Rhaegar.
Its good to know somebody has collected so many items for trading pourpuses. Im afraid I do not have the time right now to start collecting them, so I believe my effort will be focus on gathering people interested in commercial activities, items and creatures collectors, employers, artists... etc

When I left the item's market was not a very popular arena. Now that I have a bit more time to enter MD world I've seen many items have apeared, so hopely people who have shown interest in this project before might like to participate.
.
K

ps. Please inform people whom you believe could be interested in this project. I havent seen Shapeshifter, does he enter the forum?

15. Hello everybody.

There are a few market funds left and since I know there are a some people in the comunity who where allways interested in this particulary matter I am preparing a small meeting so we can discuss what to do with them. Weather if it is a market fair, a simple auction, or a bit more complex activity I would like to get a few more people involded.

Thank you for keeping in touch. :D

Regards,

Hmm.. a while ago Kriskah and Kragel did a market festival, right?
Maybe a pretty large selection can be sold during market fests, and the amount for which they are sold documented and opened to public. This could serve as a reference for the relative value of items on future trades, maybe..
I haven't seen Kragel in a while but from what I've seen I agree with Kafuuka: the creature market is mostly based on the demand. According to Kragel, when he sold creatures he ask around first to determine the price of each one.
Items... well... I rather not go there because for me it is a bit frustrating. I believe people whom known the market thingy from the start know the reasons I felt this way about the hole thing.

17. I believe this idea has been presented before in simmilar terms and in several ocasions, too sad it hasnt been put to practice.

I think the ritual settings would be easier if the creatures could be dragg in to each formation.

about creatures organization:

18. It can be any type of run, that is not the point...

Well... I am a bit confused right now... really don't know what to say.
But since is not in my power to create items I dont know if I should even care about it...
Anyways I must say it is really easy to get frustrated when you get so involved.

K

19. @ Udgard
Yes, I believe Kragel mention that too, but when will he come back?

When I used the therm "common items" I was refering to items not created for an specific type of character, in response of a personal request. These items migh have diferent porpuses acordingly to diferent type of uses.

Ok, no more definitions... these are items which where part of the list

Round Lens Spectacles: a pair of lenses attached at one side by a handle.

Backpack: Blue backpack with padded shoulder straps, with adjustable-length straps.

Run Bottle: Cuban bottle of rum Bacardi.

Flashlight: with two output levels suitable for operations requiring minimal light; for preserving night vision while navigating, tracking, map reading, or other close work; or for negotiating outdoor terrain without disturbing wildlife (many animals cannot see red light).

Feather Pen & Ink bottle: Medieval Quill Blue Feather with Ink bottle.

Black leather whip: 8 Feet Long Quality leather bullwhip

Torch and fuel: Torch can burn up to 25 minutes.

Some "common" items migth not be so unique, for obvious reasons.

@ Chewett
It was just a triky choice to add in the poll. Evidently people interested on your slippers are somehow generaly interested on common items... or particualry on furry footware.

20. Do we need common items?

Long time ago Kragel told me that he and Udgard where creating a long list of common items to be added on the market. He agreed that with Mur I guess. Anyways, I was very happy to hear new items where going to “randomly” appear so I made a list my self and send it to him right away. I haven’t seen him for a while so I don’t really know what happened with that project.

Well, the thing is I believe people enjoy auctions, so I assume they will like these events to become regular. If I am wrong please tell me and I will no longer insist on this matter. But if I am right… may I ask somebody else to help me create a list of items to be spread on the realm? It is well known that items are still very rare and not very easy to acquire, so Kriskah and Rustichello are a bit exhausted of traveling all around the realm begging players to sell their T-shirts and bag of nails… more common items are needed.

If you consider this to be a bad idea please post here so I won’t be irritating Mur with lists no body else really cares about.

Thank you.

21. @ Watcher
Thanks for the input I didnt know that

@ Raven
I know they look riduculous, we all do, even pets. I was only joking and spaming a lot... but that is it all, i will emulate dst and censure my self. Wont spam anymore for an entire week.
