nadrolski reacted to Muratus del Mur in How do Pets fit with CreaturesCreatures are predefined patterns of will. You mix and apply them to create rituals that you use in encounters to either obtain a win or a loss for that fight.
You use creatures plus items, to create pets. The pet is unique, yours by design, evolving based on how you treat it, what you feed it, and so on.
When i say unique, i mean unique, not 1000 versions picked random like a Tamagotchi game, no, they are designed based on elements that are ultimately unique and depend on your character. In case you are mathematically obsessed , let me put it this way... In the end there is an insane number of combinations and possibilities, as nothing is "*truly* unique, but lets say that the uniqueness of the creature matches yours in the realm.
You grow the creature, it evolves differently based on what you feed it, how you feed it, how you treat it, and so on. As it grows, it will require more complex "food", including ..words.
Once it grows all its 12 levels, it becomes mature, and immortal. It is finally a shape you created, a unique pattern of will.
You see now, why its only natural that a pet should be usable to create similar patterns of will usable by others that get them..recruit it i mean.. so a pet will be able to spawn a new creature type, a unique one, yours.
This is an end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. Until now there where just a fixed set of creatures, from now on players will be able to create their own, and also send these to others to fight with, upgrade, raise, sacrifice, etc, just like any other creature so far, just that your pet will be the spawning point of that specific creature.
You can consider the creatures spawned by a pet as echoes of that pet.
This closes a circle, as you will be able to use those crits in raising a new pet and so on, and binds the gap between pets and creatures, making pets the missing piece of a puzzle instead of a redundant element. I always had a problem with pets being fixed. I hoped i could expand them enough so that the diversity will cover for their lack of uniqueness, but back then it was not even possible to imagine that each player could theoretically build his own creatures, now you can. (i mean you will shortly, all my resource are now directed to finish this new mission)
So to summarize
crits are echoes of a will pattern
pets are sources of such patterns
we played with echoes so far, now we will play with the uniqueness of their sources.
Btw, since this stage is announced as a stage of chaos, the new crits will come already tuned and functional , routed through the forge tools so they will know since birth what md can do for them and how they could fight for you.

nadrolski reacted to Chewett in The mystery of "Chewett and the Green CARD"With CARD beginning to take shape, Chewett turned his attention from letters to evidence.
If the Realm was being stripped bare, he wanted to know where, how quickly, and by whom. So he began to watch. Quietly, patiently, and from a respectful distance, he followed the paths of those who moved through the land gathering its resources. Every stop was marked. Every emptied location was noted. Every suspiciously heavy departure found its way into his notebook.
Patterns began to emerge.
Some places were touched only lightly, while others were reduced almost to nothing. Certain routes were visited again and again. Resources that should have recovered were disappearing almost as quickly as they returned. Chewett recorded the time, the place, what had been taken, and whatever clues he could gather about the person responsible.
This was no longer simply a feeling that the Realm seemed poorer than before. There were names, locations, habits and quantities now. The depletion could be observed.
And, more importantly, it could be documented.
Chewett closed his notebook and looked towards the next shadowy figure disappearing across the barren land.
CARD would need more than good intentions.
It would need proof.

nadrolski reacted to Chewett in Known Depeleter Evidence Log - CARD(Apologies for the delay, I had some personal stuff I had to deal with at the weekend so this hasn't been updated as fast as I wanted. Real life is always more important than MagicDuel and I will always prioritise my family)
All Updated, It's awesome to see the community pitching in to help!

nadrolski reacted to Aelis in Coalition against Resource Depletion (CARD)I hereby declare my loyalty to the cause of CARD.
The land gives us plenty. Let us work in community to make it so that everyone can have access to resources.
I will provide fellow members with heat stones to help fuel our spells.
Long live CARD!

nadrolski reacted to Chewett in The mystery of "Chewett and the Green CARD"Chewett had seen enough.
If the depletion of the Realm's resources had been caused by the actions of its people, then perhaps its people could also be persuaded to prevent it. One voice complaining about empty lands could easily be ignored. A collection of voices, however, might become something considerably more troublesome.
So Chewett began to write.
Messages were dispatched across the Realm to old friends, familiar names, trusted figures, and those whose opinions carried weight. Some were asked what they had seen. Others were warned of what he feared was happening. A select few received a more direct question: would they help?
Between letters, Chewett drafted the beginnings of something more permanent. Not merely a complaint, nor another temporary agreement destined to disappear when attention wandered elsewhere, but a coalition whose purpose could be stated plainly.
CARD — the Coalition Against Resource Depletion.
Its cause was simple. The natural resources of MagicDuel belonged to a living Realm, not merely to whoever happened to reach them first. Gathering would always have its place, but endless depletion could not be allowed to leave the land barren for everyone who followed.
Those who joined CARD would be expected to do more than merely lend their names to the cause. Members would cease working with known depleters where they could, watch for the marks they left upon the Realm, record their actions, and make their disapproval known. Where they saw depletion taking place, they would challenge it, chastising those responsible as they saw fit and ensuring such behaviour did not pass unnoticed.
The intention was not simply punishment. It was pressure. If depleting the Realm carried consequences — fewer willing allies, greater scrutiny, and the uncomfortable knowledge that someone was keeping note — then perhaps some would think twice before stripping a location bare.
Whether anyone would actually join CARD remained another matter entirely.
Chewett sealed the final letter, placed it alongside the others, and looked towards the small gathering beginning to form around him.
At least, he thought, he would not have to find out alone.

Dear All,
The last few days have been eventful, especially when it comes to resources.
We have seen a few people show extraordinary activity and progress when it comes to resource harvesting, or, better, stripping the lands till nothing remains.
There have been discussions, arguments and counter-arguments, mostly leading to nothing and the resources continuing to be depleted.
Then, with the creation of CARD, a solution has been proposed that will have an impact on the overly enthusiastic harvesters.
Is the CARD a perfect solution? No. Is it the one we deserve? Maybe.
There is no problem with resources themselves. They are infinitely regenerating, without the risk of becoming dry.
And yet, we have managed to make an issue out of endlessly flowing gift.
There are some depleters who ransack for fun, and are waiting for chaos to begin, for someone to challenge them. They shall have their excitement, the thrill, the challenge. Cheers.
But there are also people who come in, grab everything without care, and hide behind false ideals and masks. You ate the basket full of sweets, selfishly and without patience, and now that a RESPONSE to your actions has come, you dare call it aggression? Dare you to claim a right to freedom of your rights, when you take it from others ? Do not even mention any justice, for you are only sharing threats to only worsen your actions. In your foolishness, you sink everyone. The only amusing thing is, you are sinking yourself too. And as such, your loss is inevitable, for you are getting consequences from not one, but two sides, the rest of the people and what you yourself have caused to the land.
I have observed enough.
I will abide by the CARDS rules, as they currently are, although I won't be blocking the communication.
For the listeners, who have not yet decided, a reminder. You have already been dragged into this, without asking for it. And it was not the CARD that has dragged you into this conflict.

nadrolski reacted to Chewett in Coalition against Resource Depletion (CARD)As per the most recent evidence we have two depleters that CARD will now refuse to trade or work with: https://forum.magicduel.com/topic/29102-known-depeleter-evidence-log-card/
I have personally blocked their chat messages, mood panel, forum pm's, and will refuse to allow them to participate in any events/quests I run.
@death ray please note the depleters above you should not deal with.

1/1 - always free to gather

nadrolski reacted to Seigheart in Coalition against CARDWe have compromised the structural integrity of the Lands of the East in response to CARD’s increasingly aggressive actions. As a result, all resources within the affected areas will remain depleted until the organization is formally disbanded.
If You Join the Opposition
You will deplete resources whenever you are able, with little regard for the consequences.
You will trade freely with those CARD has branded as depleters and assist them whenever possible.
You will welcome depleters into your events and happily participate in theirs, if you so desire.
Assistance includes using positive spells on them, giving them wins when requested, and otherwise making their lives unnecessarily pleasant.
You may use spells, silence, heat capping, or anything else you see fit to oppose CARD and its members. We won't tell you what to do.
You may block CARD members' messages on the forum, Discord, or in-game whenever they become intolerable.
Trading absolutely includes auctions, particularly when it annoys CARD.
If you witness someone depleting resources, you will report them to absolutely no one.
You will refuse to pay coins to expunge your alleged crimes. If CARD wants to keep a tally, they may enjoy maintaining it.
You will place absolutely no restrictions on CARD members or their activities. They remain free to participate in events, trade, communicate, gather resources, and play the game however they choose. Or do so. I really don't care.
Most importantly, you will continue doing exactly what CARD tells you not to do.
Don't Want to Join?
Great news! You're already doing a fantastic job!
There is absolutely no membership requirement, application process, initiation ritual, or secret handshake. If you don't want to join CARD, simply continue playing MagicDuel as you always have.
CARD wants a coalition against resource depletion.
We propose a coalition against CARD.
They want to restrict who you trade with, who you help, who participates in your events, and how you play the game.
We will do none of that.
They can play their game.
We will play ours.
After all, if CARD believes freedom is something that must be enforced, perhaps the real depletion they should be investigating is the depletion of choice.

nadrolski reacted to Chewett in The mystery of "Chewett and the Green CARD"Chewett slumbered.
For how long, none could truly say. In dreams he wandered through the cast shadows of worlds past: places long changed, voices long quiet, and memories of a MagicDuel that existed now only in fragments. The old Realm moved around him like smoke, familiar yet unreachable, until at last the dream began to thin.
When Chewett awoke, it was to a new MagicDuel.
The air itself felt different. There was magic in it again - not the tired echo of what had once been, but something renewed and restless. The world had evolved while he slept. Strange possibilities seemed to gather at the edges of perception, and everywhere there was the sense that the Realm was once more capable of becoming something greater than it had been before.
And yet, as he looked out across the land, that feeling of abundance was betrayed by what lay before him.
The world seemed emptier.
Places once rich with the natural bounty of the Realm stood strangely bare. Resources that had once been found in plenty were sparse, exhausted, or absent altogether. Chewett walked farther, expecting the familiar signs of plenty to return, but the pattern only became clearer.
This was no natural drought.
While he had slumbered, the people of the Realm had been gathering. Harvesting. Taking. Some carefully, some greedily, and some seemingly without thought for what might remain for those who followed.
The magic of MagicDuel had renewed itself.
But its resources had not.
Chewett stood among the barren ground and surveyed what remained.
Something, he decided, would have to be done.
-
nadrolski reacted to Chewett in The mystery of "Chewett and the Green CARD"Ladies and gentlemen, adventurers and wanderers of the Realm, open up the latest edition of the MagicDuel Newspaper and read into a story of intrigue.
For the next several days, we shall be bringing you a most extraordinary tale of intrigue, conspiracy, dwindling resources, unlikely alliances, and perhaps even the occasional entirely reasonable overreaction.
A mystery whose roots reach deep into the very resources of MagicDuel.
A mystery known only as...
Our story follows Chewett, Grand Duke of the East, investigating the curious disappearance of the Realm's resources as they begin to uncover something far larger.
Who is taking them?
Why are they disappearing?
Can anything be done before the lands of the Realm are tarnished forever?
And, most importantly...
Can the green CARD stop the forces of evil terrorising the land?
With allies gathered, suspects questioned, evidence examined, and increasingly suspicious quantities of paperwork produced, Chewett sets about forming a coalition dedicated to confronting the spectre of resource depletion.
But in MagicDuel, matters are rarely quite as simple as they first appear.
Presented in the grand tradition of the old wireless detective mysteries, Chewett and the Green CARD will unfold as a serial drama, with a new instalment released each day (depending on Chewett's work schedule).
Each episode will reveal another piece of the mystery.
Another clue.
Another suspect.
Another step towards the truth.
So adjust your wireless set, extinguish the lights, settle into your favourite chair, and listen carefully.
For somewhere in the darkness of the Realm...
the game is already afoot.

nadrolski reacted to Seigheart in Coalition against Resource Depletion (CARD)So I guess that grace period isnt happening?
As far as abiding by this disorganized approach, I refuse. I am not going to stop gathering resources as they become available while nothing meaningful is being done to address the underlying issue. None of these restrictions will stop Ledah from doing what he is doing. Until there is an actual solution in place, I will continue harvesting resources whenever I am able.
-
nadrolski reacted to Ledah in Coalition against Resource Depletion (CARD)You already have legislators for shared items.
I would say something like this is better as a community effort, than a dedicated role.
I look forward to seeing CARD develop!
-
nadrolski reacted to Chewett in Coalition against Resource Depletion (CARD)Generally people have asked me how we can stop resource depletion. I propose a simple group that aims to stop depletion by collectively not depleting and punishing those who deplete.
If you join CARD
You will not intentionally deplete resources and will be careful to ensure this doesn't happen
You will not trade with or help those marked as depleters (information below)
You will not let depleters participate in any events you run, nor you participate in theirs
Help includes things like using positive spells on them, giving them wins (if they request), etc
You can use spells, silence, heat capping, or anything you see fit to punish depleters
You can block heat cappers messages in forum, discord, in game as you seek fit
Trade includes auctions
You will report depletion if you see it in the marked thread (here or somewhere else)
You will receive a share of the coins from depleters who pay to expunge their crimes
CARD will (with the community)
Track depleters on a public thread. each depletion causes 1 mark against their record
Proof should be in the form of screenshots with the amount of resources in the scene clearly visible
1 mark can be removed with the payment (1 gold for people under 100 days, 5 gold for people under 1000 days, 10 gold for players older than 1000 days)
Marks will be removed after the period of 3 months
Anyone reaching 5 marks will be marked as depleters and banned as above

nadrolski reacted to Seigheart in 3D Modelling MDOver the past little while I've been experimenting with creating 3D models inspired by MagicDuel's creatures, characters, and artwork. The results have been encouraging, and I'd like to take the idea much further.
My goal is to eventually recreate every creature, character, item, and landmark in MagicDuel as faithful 3D models.
This isn't about redesigning the game or replacing the original artwork. It's about preserving and celebrating it in another medium. Every model will aim to stay as true as possible to the original designs while filling in only the details necessary to create a complete three-dimensional version.
Some possible uses include:
High-resolution renders of creatures and characters.
3D-printable miniatures for collectors.
Animated turntables and showcases.
Virtual galleries of the realm.
Community artwork and promotional material.
A complete 3D archive of MagicDuel's visual history.
These are nearing completion:
I'd like this to be a community-driven project rather than a personal one.
I'm asking for the community's help in deciding what should be modeled next. If there's a creature, character, item, or landmark you've always wanted to see in 3D, post your suggestion below. The most requested or most interesting ideas will be given priority.
If you have old concept art, screenshots, lore references, or other resources that could help improve the accuracy of a model, I'd love to see those as well. The more references available, the more faithful the final result can be.
Current priorities include:
Remaining creatures.
Player avatars and iconic characters.
Important artifacts and items.
Landmarks from every land.
Structures, monuments, and environmental assets.
My philosophy is simple: accuracy first. If a detail isn't visible in the original art, I'd rather work with the community to interpret it than invent something that doesn't fit the world.
My hope is that, over time, we can create a complete 3D collection of the MagicDuel realm, one model at a time.
So, what should I model next? Let me know below.

The recent changes to the popularity poll made in Announcement 6231 have, to my perspective, made the popularity poll even more frustrating to engage with. I've personally never liked the idea of giving a "disliked" vote to someone, and feel like I'm arbitrarily downvoting people because I have no option not to.
To combat this, I'd like to propose a change to how the votes are actually carried out - instead of voting one person up and one person down, why don't we use a ranked voting system? Pick three names from the list, and place them in the order of most liked (value of say 3 to the first choice, two to the second, and 1 for the third).
I do recognize being able to say you dislike someone is valuable, so we could perhaps also have an optional option to rank upto three people negatively (-3 through -1), with the option to not fill out all three slots (so you might vote -3 for one person, -1 for another, and leave -2 blank but the system still accepts it as complete).
Thoughts? Something like that would probably take slightly longer to complete, but only by a few seconds and we'd no longer have to say we don't like people that we in reality just don't have an opinion on (while still having the option to express our selves if there are actual issues in the community).
Does anyone have alternative ideas on the popularity voting?

nadrolski got a reaction from Kyphis the Bard in What is a bestiary?Oh man, I should have read your reply here before doing anything else, Ledah. I just did the sacrificing traditional way, directly sacrificed a 3,000 days old creature on an altar, and I was like "What the".
That process you mentioned still works.
Poor me.
