  1. Phrog is that actually true or do they just get a boost to Vit based on your MP?

  3. There are two different conversations going on in this thread. One about getting an article on Wikipedia. The other about starting a wiki for MD. The two really don't have anything to do with each other as they serve completely different purposes. The first is an entry in an encyclopedia giving an over view of the game and largely serving the purpose of advertisement (though for that reason they're unlikely to let us do that). The second would be a place where the players of the game could share information with each other. It wouldn't take any of the developers' time as it could easily be "moderated" by the users (generally the point of a wiki is that it's a collaborative effort not much of a top down model).
  4. I ran into an error while trying to vote for MD at the gamez 100... got the following error message "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)" which I assume was on their end not on MD's. Actually any time I try to connect to that site I get that error so it looks like their site is just down... I was going that people be allowed to vote again even if they've voted already today (but obviously not get the VE/VP/credits) in case something goes wrong while their voting they can try again. Might still be a worth while idea even though it wouldn't help in this case. Edit: same problem with mmorpg100
  5. Add me in too didn't realize Manu needed a list of everyone until just now.
  6. I'll join (either group).
  7. I'm pretty certain Mur really wouldn't like this game to have a wiki as it would just be a huge collection of spoilers. People are just miss using the term wiki to refer to a Wikipedia article.
  8. With the new system for counting player wins and losses every fight will produce exactly 1 loss but only some fights will produce wins. As time goes on this means that the total number of losses will be larger than the total number of wins. As a result most people won't be able to maintain an even number of wins and losses so they won't get the 2x XP reward. However you are also rewarded for having far more losses than wins and in fact the reward can be substantially larger. If you would get more than 200 honor for a fight you get extra XP instead. It is now much easier to get your losses much higher than your wins while still attacking and gaining plenty of XP and wins for your creatures (therefore increasing your stats). Simply attack with overwhelming strength and you will often not get a Victory. Eventually if this system persists most of the players who had been actively playing will have far more losses than wins. Which will reward them nicely any time they fight with someone who has a win/loss ratio that isn't as extreme. A new player who comes into this will be presented mostly with targets that give them lots of negative honor (odds are this will be most extreme at the highest MP level and not particularly noteworthy at lower MP levels). Especially if the player has managed to keep their profile balanced they will be severely punished by the honor system and their 2x XP reward will be much smaller than the XP reward given to someone else for beating them.
  9. Wikipedia has a pretty high requirement for proof of significance/notability and that burden of proof is on us the article writers. There are a couple ways something on the internet can be 'notable'... the easiest of course to prove is popularity which MD clearly doesn't have. What magic duel does have is it is relatively unique in a sea of minimally varying games. Unfortunately even if we describe such unique attributes Wikipedia editors won't take our word for it. That's where the "making sure to cite any verifiable sources" part comes in. There are probably other ways of accomplishing this but the only way I can think of is citing a review from a source Wikipedia considers "notable" (ie an entity which has its own Wikipedia entry). Fundamentally the problem is Wikipedia doesn't want to be used in the way we want to use it so the editors are probably justified in not letting us. This is made worse by the fact that this particular issue appears to be extremely important to a lot of the editors and they tend to be over zealous in their deletion and removal of internet related subjects I believe in an attempt to be considered respectable as an Encyclopedia.
  10. Any way we can mount a rescue mission?
  11. I like it (though I've got a 1600x1200 screen res). Given that it constantly is displayed I think it makes sense to put information there that regularly changes while someone is playing as apposed to while their logged out. Off the top of my head that would be things like the online/offline status of friends (possibly just showing online friends would be enough), and changes in combat stats. I'd suggest not putting stuff that is likely to remain unchanged for the period of time the average player is logged in as it will quickly become unused clutter if it's only useful for them to look at it once.
  12. It's alphabetical with capital letters all coming before lowercase letters.
  13. The link you showed is a very good example. You can clearly see from that fight that: Creature Experience reward for xxxxxx - Winning player Hollow Warrior gaines 0 Xp and a won battle Creature Experience reward for dst - Losing player Heretic Archer gaines -125.4 Xp Now clearly the Heretic Archer was doing damage and the Hollow Warrior was healing. However notice that only the Heretic Archer lost XP. At the end of each fight in the summary you will see a line that looks something like: "E lost: 3715vit; A lost: -1515vit;" That is the amount of damage minus the amount of healing that player took. In this fight A's creatures will each gain 3715*balance_reward/number_of_surviving_creatures As the loser E does not get a balance reward and the XP they get is cut in half so they would lose 1515/number_of_surviving_creatures/2. The only time this gets particularly complicated or confusing is when someone's using the regeneration ability which is currently bugged. Regeneration counts as healing for reducing the XP reward, however it does not actually increase the target's health, which makes it possible to do 100% damage and lose XP (which should be impossible except for this bug). I understand that you don't believe what I'm saying is correct but take a look at combat logs and you'll see it is what's going on. The thread you linked to is a nice example as there are a number of fights shown all of which work exactly as I described.
  14. Soultear you get XP based on the amount of damage that is done to the enemy not to you. Healing yourself does not cause you to lose XP, the enemy healing themselves is what causes it. As for ways to beat the gaurdians at low levels here are some spoilers. DON'T read them if you want to figure stuff out by yourself. There's also more than one solution (certainly at higher levels there are better options). If any of these spoilers deemed too much by a mod please delete them. Hint 1: Hint2: Spoiler 1: Spoiler 2: Solution:
  15. Generally it's not just a weak defence ritual but one which actively attempts to lose, rituals which do 90+% damage to themselves even if the opponent doesn't do anything. Also if someone's attacking and getting a win they're going to want lots of VE so they get lots of XP. It's a waste of a win for them if they get only a tiny amount of VE cause then they have to go and get a loss to compensate for that win. The most effective loss gathering rituals are those which damage themselves, have a lot of VE and regenerate that VE either from the creatures own regen stat or the players. That way it's hard for people to attack you and lose, they're rewarded with lots of XP beating you, and you can reuse the same creatures in a copy of the same ritual again and again.
  16. I believe I used the same strategy Chewett did the first time I beat the gaurds. I also did not kill any of them just did a higher % of damage than they did to me. The ritual I used did not have any creatures that you did not say you have nor did it use any creatures of higher level.
  17. Read the logs and think about what different rituals might work is the only advice I can give that I know isn't a spoiler.
  18. Black Scyther, it's possible to get into loreroot with the creatures you have.
  19. Nauraph it takes a bit of time for the graphic to catch up.
  20. Got it last night. (just couldn't get to sleep until it was done)
