1. Hail fair wanders!

Alas, the Moon does not glow upon the lands as it did once many eons past.  We sat in awe of this momentous occasion and wondered at the master of the realm and his many abilities.  Yes we railed against him and his quirky nature and demanded (I forget what!).

Occasionally I have wandered the realm as it has evolved over the passing of time and wondered at the many new marvels I see creeping into my beloved realm.  Many friends no longer wander, as ghosts, in the realm and I become lonely as I look upon the faded grass and remember the moments of joy and seriousness.  The thought provoking conversations and the wonder that comes when kindred spirits are united and burn brightly like kindling thrust into a dying fire.

The Moon Goddess still holds my heart and her hidden presence still haunts my waking moments.

I wish you all well on your journeys!

Knight of the Moon, Karak

2. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I used to have access to the back entrance of Loreroot (acquired from the wishshop)  I no longer seem to have this ability and I wasn't sure who to direct this to, so have lodged it here.

Thanks for your help in fixing.

It would be interesting to hear other CoE members views on this, i can only assume this has changed since amoran, who i believe is a senior CoE member, has started this pertition. However i know little of the inner CoE structure, so she might just be starting it on her own without permission. again this is just conjecture.

I concur with Lucius Tarquinus on this point of regaining the badge within the merits of the game. i do support this petition, but is up to us as members of the Order to once more take our place amongst the community and be recognised for our contribution. though the votes of public support tell us we are valued we must not go the way of many organisations and fade because we are forgotten as has the moon in this nightless land.

4. Having been like my esteemed brother in arms, Lucius Tarquinus, am one of the founding members of the alliance. Together we have seen many changes in the realm. Much has been uncovered through the efforts of the members of the Children of the Eclipse and many festivals enjoyed by the masses. Evolution is a strange thing and as we grow we see the world from a whole new angle.

The moon was once found and shone in a darkened landscape but, the code was lost in the sands and minds of a few now departed. The moon, though hidden to many has inspired a strong following as has been alluded to. We did not shrink from membership but were forcefully ejected and not permitted to return.

Instead we chose to stand tall for our faith and what we represented: respect, loyalty, ethics, honour and all that is good in people. I would throw my ancient weight behind this petition. Ever have we been steadfast to our faith and cause. The badge was but a symbol of our dedication. We shall continue, in anonymity if necessary as it was in the beginning, but would be all the better for being known in the realm.

5. The quest is now closed. My hearty thanks to all the questors and congratulations once again to Pazur.

I also wish to thank the veterans who supported the quest and made it possible:
Innocence
Aiiwya
Peace
Pamplemousse
dst
Lifeline
Grido
Tarquinus
Granos

Now you must await where the Goddess with guide me to see what comes next!

6. A momentous day, the Moon Chalice has been found by the young questor Pazur!

Please find your way to Tarquinus for the wish point reward.

Congratulations to all the questors, remember there are still 5 silver coins to be passed on those uncovering the resting place.

I must honour all those who have sought the Chalice over a long period of time. You are all worthy in your dedication and perseverance.

Praise to the Goddess!

7. I think a reward is suitable but based on active days rather than anniversaries. As activity is more an indicator of commitment.

As for alts, perhaps if it were permissable that under a system of honour we could link our alts to our main account then elect which alt between them recieves the WP garnered by the main account.

This system, to be successful, would rely on others not abusing this linking to target alts or devine another's purpose for playing multiple identities, particularly those who convincingly play alts that have not had their common owner linked.

8. Watch for the call from the Sybil or one of her Priestesses. I have done what I can to prepare the path, the Servants of the Moon will now call the worthy to gather for the great enterprise!

The beginning is at hand!

9. This is a new quest and is sponsored graciously by Tarquinus.

There will be a great gathering called to send off the questors on their journey to find that which is lost. All who would undertake will need the blessings of the Sybil (Dark Mystic) or her priestess, Phantom Orchid, and need to be so marked in their public logs. This will be done at the calling of the quest.

An announcement of the gathering will be made soon!

10. The time of gathering draws near.

It has been decreed that all those who would take up this challenge must be blessed and marked so by the Sybil that the Goddess will know who to give aid in times of need, for she shall reward the faithful for their service.

A gathering of the worthy shall be called and a blessing laid upon them and details of what lies ahead given.

The grand blessing calling forth the Quest for the Moon Chalice is coming.

11. The Moon has long been served by the dedicated and devout. In this realm her place is largely forgotten and many newlings walk the realm without memory of her touching our realm.

A quest has been set forth for all knights of valour and honour to find that which has been hidden from the Sybil, the Goddess's earthly connection, the Moon Chalice. For the Sybil and her priestesses this chalice holds the key to greater communion with the Goddess.

A short while ago a small portion of wine passed my lips and the Goddess took her avenue to instill in me a vision that continues to haunt me to this day.
There was a crescent moon, a bloodsoaked cloth, a dripping blade, an open grave and a stairway.
And a command burned into my soul: "Find the key my faithful servant."
I have spent countless hours in study and the time draws near for a gathering of those who seek either for personal glory or for faith to join together and set out to recover this lost relic.

As the time draws near look for messages or calls to arms that will signal the great gathering and blessing that will be required to ensure that those who seek the chalice have been blessed by the Goddess.

The Quest is now begun, please read the full listing to see what you must do to join the quest!

12. Having read the many and empassioned arguments I surmise that indeed Loreroot has fallen behind in keeping the public informed of the goings on.

This leaves new players wondering how to find out about the land and its people and this needs to be addressed and we as the community of Loreroot shall pull out all the stops to redress this.

It is lamentable that such a dramatic action was required to highlight the issue, which Yrth has also acknowledged other alliances have fallen victim to as well. But at the same time it is rewarding to see that it has sparked such debate and passion, which inidcates that there is a vibrant life in Loreroot and other alliances and a desire to see Loreroot rise from the ashes, reborn as the pheonix anew.

Yes there is important information that has been decided independently by the community of those directly involved in Loreroot affiliated alliances that needs to be made public. Some this has been done already and more will continue to be put into the public arena over the coming weeks.

One of the things we as a community of Loreroot alliances have sought to do is to work together as a cohesive whole in relation to certain concerns relating to the lands of Loreroot. We have sought out a council of leaders that will hopefully be able to represent the hopes and aspirations of those who have taken on formal alliance with the land of Loreroot as well as those looking for a home. To that end the High Council was formed from root stock of all of the alliances members (prior to the war that wasn't). Nominations to fill positions on the council were opened to all members of the alliances and formal voting overseen by a representative of the archives.

As you can accept there has been much turmoil in the lands since the departure of noted leaders such as Nelya Setesh, Blackthorn, Raven and Knator Commander, to name a few. We are rebuilding and will take a little time to find our feet and ask your forebearance as we do so.

We are as passionate about Loreroot, the land and its people, as you all are about the realm of MD and wish to enhance its flavour to all comers, new and old alike. We are happy to bear your judgement but hope you will understand that we may not adopt every idea thrown at us or modify our behaviour in response to every criticism.

But in one thing we will be more assidious, giving people a reason to find a home in Loreroot amongst its people of passion, culture and good will.

13. These come from our book of prayers and have been vetted by the Sybil and given into the care of the Goddess.

Hear us as we give thanks O'Goddess.
Help us to find within,
what you have shown us without.

Open our hearts that we may deliver
on your promise of peace,
through the just treatment of others.

The we uphold the rights
of the downtrodden
and be their champion.

That by our deeds you shall
be known as a gracious,
and benevolent Goddess.

But whose wrath once awakened
is a mighty foe
That will not be set aside.

Teach us to love others
in the face of their indifference
or hate.

Strengthen our bodies
that we may always
serve you till our final days.

Accept us now, O Goddess,
your humble servants
To carry your word to the unremembering.

My heart gravitates to her,
My skin radiates in her light,
My being pulsating in her presence,
She is the one who reflects all that I am

In her shadow I walk,
Traversing space and time,
I am versed in her mysteries,
She is the one who enlightens me.

Bathed in her radiance,
She bestows life upon me,
Lifetime after lifetime,

O, wondrous Lady of the Moon!
How radiant is your face that shines on me
in silvery rays that lavish my skin in silken kisses.
How wonderful you are,
Great Mother Goddess,
that hath given beauty to the Earth,
that hath showered it in Love,
that hath given your Priestess the Power to walk in your footsteps.

O Radiant Mother!
As the moon penetrates me with its magical light,
so do I sing to you!
Your Love hath given me Light,
and your Strength hath given me Magic.
In the light of the eternal Moon
do I sing praises unto you!

Blessed is the Crescented Lady,
Mother of Life,
Giver of Magic.
Blessed is She,

that watches over me!
Blessed be!

In evening's silent passing
I wait upon thy greeting
To usher in the nightfall
And shelter souls a-sleeping.

I sit beside the lake-side
Observing thy reflection
And gentle lake-waves glisten
And grant to me direction.

I gaze upon thy splendour
So radiant and charming
Yet thou art mine defender
So vigilant and calming.

So asks this one thy blessing
To weave the threads of wisdom
To understand thy bidding
And sing to thee thine anthem.

And cleanse us in thy moonlight
When shadows fall upon us
And grant to us thy foresight
Thy loving and thy kindness.

Thy light were overshadowed
In morning's timid peeping
But still thou art my vision
O'er all things ever seeing.

We are an order of Moon worshippers who seek to reveal the Moon in all its glory to the unbelievers of this realm. There are two orders that we seek to fill.

<b>Clergy</b> Our religious order is made up of the Priestesses and Priests who serve and invoke the Moon in all her glory and wield mighty magics in her name.
<b>Knights</b>Our knightly order made up of those whose gallantry and honour serve to protect the religious order against those who would pull down its might. We have need of warriors of true and stout heart, diplomats, researchers, seekers and all manner of intelligent beings to place the order onto a high pedestal in the community.

Our heart lies in Loreroot and we stand as one of the defenders of the Lorerootian way of life.

Contact LunarGoddess, Tarquinus, Karak or Shadowseeker in game if you are looking to fulfill your calling here in this world. Acceptance will be by invitation after a private audience.

<!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><b>Knightly Code of Conduct</b><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

These are the codes of knightly conduct among the warriors of the Children of the Eclipse. We seek men, mostly, to serve as knights, though we will turn no valiant woman away.

<b>The Five Principles of Knighthood</b>
The classical principles of knighthood are, appropriately, mirrored by the principles Khalazdad encourages in Dark Lords. Though the Children of the Eclipse are not, strictly speaking, a "good" alliance in the simplistic sense, we do think their knights should observe and demonstrate the classic values of chivalry.
<ul><li><b>Honour</b> - a knight should keep his word. In the game-mechanical sense, he should strive for a high Honor score.</li><li><b>Valor</b> - a knight should never fear battle, especially when the odds are stacked against him.</li><li><b>Mercy</b> - a knight should never exploit a situation in which other characters are at an obvious disadvantage (e.g., hiding out to perform healing rits). A knight should always relent if the foe begs to be spared an attack. A knight should not attack an idle player unless s/he is 100% certain the target player allows attacks while idle and/or wishes to gain losses.</li><li><b>Charity</b> - this one is tricky in the MD world, but can take the form of advice to newbies and voluntary losses for the sake of others' advancement.</li><li><b>Justice</b> - a knight should never aid the unjust, but should help seeking, and if necessary, punishing the unjust for the sake of weaker players; a knight should take any opportunity to right a wrong.</li></ul>

Obviously, the dojos are a prime example of a place where justice needs enforcing, but the MD world is full of wrongs looking to be righted.

<b>Knights of the New Moon</b>
The Knights of the New Moon are an unofficial para-organization for the spies of the Children of the Eclipse. They cannot officially belong because to do so betrays their true allegiance.

Captain: one who shall remain nameless.

<b>Code</b>
Gather information for the Children of the Eclipse. Report any significant findings to your captain on a regular basis.
<ul><li>Act with independence. You will not know the names of any other Knights of the New Moon except for your captain, who alone will know your identity (the Moon Knight and Sibyl will not, except where your captain deems it appropriate).</li><li>Honour your assumed identity and act in accordance with the expectations attendant to the role's persuasiveness, even if doing so sometimes means violating the general codes of knightly behavior for the Children of the Eclipse. In some cases, Knights of the New Moon should actively disregard the general Code of knightly conduct in order to be more effective spies.</li><li>Assist the Children of the Eclipse by spreading rumours, true and false, of CoE activity. Attempt to increase the Order's prestige by encouraging attendance at sermons, public magic rituals, and enlistment (as appropriate).</li><li>If discovered, exhibit valor and loyalty to the Order to the bitter end - no matter the cost. This kind of valor is the stuff of which legends are told.</li><li>Never divulge secrets of the Order without consulting your captain.</li></ul>

<b>Knights of the Half Moon</b>
The Knights of the Half Moon are the warriors and shock troops of the Chidren of he Eclipse. They will exemplify the values of the Order in battle and other noteworthy deeds.

Captain: Position Vacant

<b>Code</b>
Swear fealty, in front of at least one witness of the Loreroot High Council other than the Moon Knight, <ul><li>to Lady NelyaSetesh, to the Sibyl of the Children of the Eclipse, and to Aqune, who is the Mistress of Storms. Let all know the Knights of the Half Moon represent an elite among the Guardians of the Root.</li><li>Protect Loreroot, NelyaSetesh, the Sibyl, the Mistress of Storms, and any priestess of the Children of the Eclipse at all costs. Be prepared to coordinate and launch pre-emptive strikes against known foes. When in doubt, assume that any un-allied onlooker might be a possible assassin. Do not fail to protect the ladies we serve!</li><li>Honour the spirit and the letter of all alliances between Loreroot and other lands and guilds. Never attack any ally except in the context of voluntary training.</li><li>Strive to increase the combat worthiness of all knights of lower rank, but also of all newcomers to the lands of MagicDuel. Set an example of Valor and Charity to all in the world.</li><li>Never decline a duel. Never run from any assailant if weaker bystanders (allied or not) would be imperiled by your retreat.</li><li>Participate in each heads contest. Knights of the Half Moon should never participate in this contest by conspiracy or the friendly passing of heads, as less valorous contestants are known to do, but should instead demonstrate the valor of a single combatant fighting by his own strength and wits.</li><li>Enforce justice in the dojo regions and other areas where the strong prey on the weak. A knight should never fight when moved by base passion, but only in the service of blind and equitable justice.</li><li>Never attack a person who asks for mercy.</li></ul>

<b>Knights of the Full Moon</b>
The Knights of the Full Moon are the explorers, ministers, teachers, diplomats, and strategists of the Chidren of he Eclipse. They will serve as the most public and virtuous arm of the Order.

Captain: Karak

<b>Code</b>
<ul><li>Swear fealty, in front of at least one witness of the Loreroot High Council other than the Moon Knight, to Lady NelyaSetesh, to the Sibyl of the Children of the Eclipse, and to Aqune, who is the Mistress of Storms. Let all know the Knights of the Full Moon represent an elite among the Guardians of the Root.</li><li>Protect Loreroot, NelyaSetesh, the Sibyl, the Mistress of Storms, and any priestess of the Children of the Eclipse to the best of your ability. Do not sacrifice yourself needlessly, but coordinate with the Knights of the Half Moon to manage defenses of the Order, of Wasp's Totem, and of Loreroot itself.</li><li>Honour the spirit and the letter of all alliances between Loreroot and other lands and guilds. Never attack any ally except in the context of voluntary training.</li><li>Learn all the secrets of the MagicDuel world to the best of your ability, by first-hand exploration where possible and by conversation and instruction otherwise. Maintain strong ties with the Archivists and Legend Speakers, and offer service to them whenever the opportunity arises.</li><li>Complete quests and help other knights of our Order to do the same. With an eye to increasing your own power and the prestige of the Order, earn favors from RPCs and other interested parties </li><li>Seek artifacts. Establish strong ties with Morrel, GlorDamar, and other knowledgeable entities. If possible, obtain lost books and rare items before the Archivists can, so that the prestige of Loreroot and our Order will be (at the very least) enhanced when we charitably pass the items along for "safekeeping" in the MDA.</li><li>Instruct all entities in the ways of battle and politics in the MD world, especially with regard to the codes of chivalry and the aims of the Children of the Eclipse.</li><li>Participate in each heads contest. Knights of the Full Moon may participate in this contest by conspiracy or the friendly passing of heads, but not in conjunction with Knights of the Half Moon; instead, they should seek help from other Knights of the Full Moon or ideally allies from other lands, that the Order's prestige will grow among other guilds.</li><li>Perform acts for the benefit of other guilds, with an eye to increasing the prestige of our Order and strengthening its ties to other lands.</li></ul>

16. Having read Mur's expose, my thoughts seem ... Anyway for what its worth, flat is relative and perceptive. The dualism of Flat v Sphere seems to preclude any other variation that may eventuate. We have a tendency towards the sphere because it is what we understand.

But the flat, or an unfolding of reality has a far more interesting eventuality. As a box unfolds will we ever see only one side of it, or are the edges rounded enough, to allow us to traverse to the other side? And if we do, does it have a material effect on the side we left? Water is obviously contained in our experience of the coast and lakes so it must go somewhere...

Is Necrovion a link to the other side of the box that we experience? And how do we move the unfoldingness of the box to make it accessable? I have not the answers, but in posing the questions trigger the search in me for the answers.

17. Karak, Captain Knights of the Full Moon, Warrior Monk, Moon Relic Hunter.

I put myself forward, not for my military prowess, but for the attunement to items such as these that the Goddess hath granted me.

Though I may contribute to its uncovering, I would leave its wielding to others more suited, if indeed it is to be wielded.
