I found that, as you say, this imitates life in a way. Patience helps, you can actually gently affect lines and flows to create recognisable shapes.
For more defined lines, i slowly move the cursor, keeping it pressed down (which i found helps a little for definition), and then leaving the shape a couple of moments to stabilise. then you can carefully affect the lines slightly as if you are drawing gently to create recognisable shapes.
This is absolutely fascinating.
It's like when you try to help someone, if you blankly tell what you think, it won't work, but if you show by example and encourage slowly, the solution becomes gradually more apparent.
