  14. A New Public Council?

    Why not elect 2 members to PC and have Chew/Mur appoint 2 members?  The appointed member could be changed as needed and could replace Chewy having to spend so much time with the PC.  That way the interests of the players and the admin are represented in decision making process.

     

    I also think that anytime a member of the PC, whether elected or appointed needs to stand down, a new member should be elected/appointed in their place.

    Also for the need to share the load, temporary commitees could be created by the PC to carry out projects based upon their skill sets. 

     

    Seems to me that the council was not a failure, only the implementation of policys and powers needed to keep the council viable were lacking. 

    I think Syrian (and Chewy) did an awesome job for all MD people and we owe her (and him) a debt of gratitude.  Great job!!

    I don't really think that the past, present, and future should be viewed separately, but rather as singular continuum. 

    (A continuous sequence in which adjacent elements are not perceptibly different from each other, although the extremes are quite distinct.)

     

    The Idea that the future is pulling the past and present into being is not a new one.  The Idea of "Fate" as determining the course of the past, present, and future is very old.  Though most people look at "Fate" as being derived from some form of deity, that Idea is a crutch used by people who cannot/will not expand their childlike minds/beliefs to overcome their fear of what they do not understand. This is not how I am using it here, rather, "Fate" is just a label used for viewing/understanding the continuum from the future perspective and cannot exist outside the concept of Time.  Time is simply the Man-made system used to quantify the continuum.  Time allows us to set measurements (millennium, century, decade, year, etc... it provides us the perspective of a past, present, and future.  That perspective is at its best limited due to the quantifying effects imposed by the time system and so limits our understanding of the continuum.   (Read again the Einstein quote)

     

    The seed is a good analogy.  A seed contains within it a continuous sequence or code.  Viewing it within the constraints of time we will see that the seed grew from its parent plant (past), is now a seed (defines for this purpose as both a product of past growth and a source of development for future growth, or according to Webster’s: the fertilized ripened ovule of a flowering plant containing an embryo and capable normally of germination to produce a new plant) (present), and a new plant (future) 

     

    If we view the seed without the constraints of time, the seed contains the sequence or code of the plant.  That code is barely distinguishable from the plant it was or the plant it will be, for the code is continuous.  When you buy a rose seed and plant it in the ground, you know what grows from it is a rose plant and not a tomato plant.  Therefore viewed within the continuum, "the plant is the seed; the seed is the plant".   Have you ever held an entire forest in your hand?

    Infinity is another example of the past, present, future continuum. (I call it the i-continuum)  It is a circle with no beginning and no end. (Therefore time is not a useful measurement).   Another way to describe infinity is: that which is, was, and always will be; no beginning and no end.  Seeing things this way is like what Mur said about artists.

    I agree with Nim. Seems appropriate that next year we would include Items to be found around the world and from different cultures.  Or better still... that we create our own MD based Holiday around the winter solstice.... and celebrate that instead.  I mean if we are going to celebrate a made-up Holiday...might as well make-up our own.

    If you would like to hire me to draw you a custom avatar / Item / or quest art, please leave a brief description here or PM me. 

     

    Price is negotiable.   I accept coin, credits, trades, items. etc...

     

      If you are new to the game...do not be afraid to ask.  I've been known to draw for free.  Price is not my primary motivation here, the good of the community is.  Payment will be based upon what you can afford...so if your character is poor...you will pay very little or nothing at all.  This is so that everyone (no not just you Everyone :D) in the MD community can have a custom avatar. :)

     

    Payment is due only upon delivery.  No re-negotiating agreed upon price.  If you are not satisfied with finished product, no payment is due... but I will offer it for sale here,  before selling to shop.  Remember that avatars are 160 x 100 pixels...not allot of details are visible at that size... and must be in approved style and format.   

     

    I do not offer proofs.  But...If you are unhappy with some aspect of the drawing, I will make limited adjustments upon request...but no complete re-draws.  This is art... and therefore is subjective in nature.  I reserve the right of final say and to refuse service to anyone at any point in the process (which is why you don't pay until you receive your finished avatar / Item / etc...). 

     

    Some things take longer to draw than others, so please be patient.  Also the longer it takes to complete...usually the better it is.

     

    note:  If you have an Idea for a cool looking avy... let me know.  Always interested. you just may earn some coin.
