1. As of late I have mainly been reading the forums and occasionally wandering around to see if anything new has materialized. With all of the active content I developed for MD no longer allowed that kind of took the wind out of my sails as it were. Nonetheless, I would be interested in helping out. I don't need the tag or any reward. I would just like to keep involved in what is happening in MD. Also it would be great to focus on positive things like giving out rewards. I am not all that interested in negative drama. Player Name : Cutler Age : 765 Citizenship : Underground Tag: Puzzle Strategist Any past issues I have had with RPCs would have no bearing on responsibilities related to this role. I would be fair and impartial and couldn't be bribed. Mur: cutler, you are already a legend with a well defined identity. This job involves things that would require changes i don't want to affect already established roles, otherwise you would be a valuable add, but sorry no Cheers, Cutler
  2.
I´m selling a rein, I will take: Silver Gold Some tokened creatures Rare creatures Items And perhaps credits/paypal A combination of the above. This is not an auction, I'll either take your offer or not. Offers are welcome through any means (PM/Forum PM/Post/IM is preferred)
I will give you 5 silver for it. (Most likely I will give it away for free as a Christmas present to a newbie) Cutler
  3. 1st Wish: To finish the MDBP Puzzle App Why Not: It is out of my control. Why Yes: I think this would be a very cool app and besides selling very well it would add something unique to the world Why: because 2nd Wish: To make my wife happy every day of her life. Why Not: It is mainly out of my control. Why Yes: She is the most important thing in my life (besides my son). Why: Using a wish to make another persons life better is the best way I can think of to actually use a wish properly. 3rd Wish: This one is secret. Why Not: Telling some wishes makes it so they can't come true. Why Yes: Some wishes are worth everything. Why: because. Cutler
  4. I once knew a boy who could recount tens of thousands of numbers from PI, he could also tell you the first place many other numbers occurred ... "our homeroom class number starts at the 13,287th digit of PI". Outside of his "crazy ability" he was unremarkable beyond being a bit slow and generally uninteresting. He had a great fount of knowledge on this one topic but no understanding it seemed in general. Some seeds of Knowledge have no inner life and no capacity to infect a persons mind, while some people have little capacity to nurture a nugget of knowledge into a greater understanding. Those people who are ripe to nurture an ember of understanding often don't require others to provide the nugget of knowledge since their mind craves to grow and learn regardless. But not all directions of thought can be created from a void. Were it me, I would risk the danger of misunderstanding or worse, only ever partly understanding for the chance to have a true chance at a greater insight. That is the role and curse of a prophet ... lead your flock blind though they might be and hope that one will understand. Cutler
Those that follow my posts more than just a curiosity from the creator of MD, deserve this bit of information. The others will make sense of it too, but not with same implications. I do not care of you or the freedom of your thoughts. If you don't manage to keep the freedom of your mind alone, i will just discard you from my potential list of people i might learn something from. So don't fool yourself, the next thing i say is for my own moral not just for your own good. Information i "trade" comes with a price. Once you see a truth beyond what your mind was capable to reach (mostly due to ignorance on the matter not actual incapability), you will take the first answer as granted. The more i give you the more i take from your freedom. You know how i could make someone to quit MD? by giving him _Everything_ all at once... think what it means. I scatter bits here and there, share secrets i should not, but don't be happy about it. There is just one single way to grasp this kind of information without limiting your freedom (inner freedom)..and that is discovering it yourself. Sometimes milestones need to be placed, secrets revealed, foundations rebuilt. This kills minds, while reviving other. As someone (thank you) pointed to me, understanding is different from knowledge. I trade you knowledge, understanding you find yourself..never take understanding from someone else or mistaken it for knowledge. Its not a gift, not a spoiler, its something that is payed with your freedom of mind and has a bad side effect that you will have to chose between ignorance or stepping into abyss to find more. The things i gift..well there are some...i call them now sparks..or seeds... maybe one day i will be able to master those, but i don't think so yet. For now i just realise what giving out information is, and i want, for my own moral values, to tell you..so you can't say later i destroyed your life and such. I stepped on corpses while building MD, without knowing it, planting seeds into people, opening their mind to a world that was not theirs to look into. I wont lie...i don't care so much. My personal opinion is that whoever is not ready to understand these things fails its purpose as a human being... but it affects me, badly. One of the advantages of being remote is that it prevents direct influence, so i can count more on the sanity and real feedback of people than i could face to face. I want to preserve this advantage and not let information get tainted by the fact you are not knowing at what price it comes. Knowledge is pain, understanding is bliss, since they can't go one without an other, the target of all this can't be seen in such terms. p.s. for the sake of my limited time left, if you can't understand what i am saying move on and don't comment, leave this topic for those that do. i am in overclock mode. Mp6
Inactive is a technical term given by the system when they have not logged on for 5 days. When the system designates them as inactive, they do not count towards the 30 needed to make MP6. So I have 35 adepts, but only 20 that are "active" and count towards the requirement for MP6. Actually, which ones of the 35 are active does vary from week to week a bit.
Curiose's response made me laugh. Its kind of fun to see people scold others when they don't understand what they are talking about. I haven't thought about adepts in a long time. TO me the adepts pages is kind of like a cemetery of players past. Looking at all of the inactive players who haven't logged on in 5 days (actually most more than a year) reminds me of my time as an MP6 (so long ago). Its funny how that seems like ancient history now. MD has changed so much since then. Cutler
  6.
no it doesnt talk to me on yim
Actually the reason I requested this function (a long time ago) was so that you could make a single script which functions differently at different locations based on the players current location. This is much cleaner than having to make multiple scripts at each site and bug check each and every one. It also allows quests where multiple people are working in unison to satisfy a condition for example "have someone at every fountain in MD at the same time". Without a location function that isn't possible. Cheers, Cutler
  7.
I believe this is the only attempt to be constructive, but I'm afraid it doesn't make any sense. Why should someone act before thinking? (As I think you seem to have stated.) I think Jazira is putting forth a solid effort, even if I disagree with a few things on a personal, or emotional, level. I would just like to bring up one concern: where is the "church" in the Savelites Church? My understanding of a church is that it is a place (or congregation) for worship. I see that you plan sermons, but none have the element of worship. If you are intentionally minimizing religious elements, could you clarify your intent?
One of my happiest moments in MD was when Savelfuser left MD for good and at the time I had hoped that the Savelites would die with him. Unfortunately that hasn't happened. But in the end, the constant swapping and takeover of the savelite alliance has been a more fitting demise by taking away any semblance of dignity it might have had. At this point I am just as happy for it to be swapped like an old toy that is no longer loved. Jazira I wish you good luck but unfortunately the Savelite alliance is fundamentally corrupted and it will ultimately suck the enjoyment out of you as it has all of its previous "owners". Cutler
  8. Is it only GOTR you are leaving or MD in general? If MD, maybe we should have a farewell party before you go??? Cutler
  9.
The thing is with becoming an adept of someone is that once you do so it is meant to be permanent. Adding something to make it so you can become "free" just causes more harm to the system in place than good. It is an interesting concept to be able to do it, but really pointless, after all if you really want to be free become the adept of an account that is going to be removed. Look at it this way, if you taught something by someone you cannot unlearn it (no semantics please) You can get another teacher and learn new things but the fact remains at one point you were a student. In MD's case its being an adept and there is always more to learn. Just my opinion.
Nice points That Other Guy. Another solution if you really want to be the adept of no one, you can always just type "no one" in the set adept box. Or if you prefer to be the adept of nobody you can set "nobody" in the set adept box. Then anyone who looked at your status would see that you were nobody's adept. Cutler
  10.
My idea deals with adepts. As far as I know, (And yes I did do research on this...), if you become an adept you are one FOREVER! Now there are two ways of becoming an adept; by being recruited by a friend and starting the game as one, or through your achievements page where you can type in the name of a mentor inside a box. I have come to realize that not everyone who is an adept may want to be an adept. For those new players who are "not the brightest bulbs in the pack" may become an adept after playing for a short time, but thinking that they could always become a free man/woman again later. This is however, not true. (Or so I believe. If I am wrong than this whole post will make me the joke of MD.) Now for my "solutions"... Idea 1: Why not make money off of someone's mistake? My first idea is simply make a extra feature that allows you to lose your adept status once applied. This of course would only be available to players who became adepts by using the achievements box. (Otherwise there would be little incentive to recruit new members.) However the drawback I could see happening is that it is not possible to have the game sort between those who used the achievements box and those who started as an adept. (But with my experience with Game Development I think this shouldn't be a problem.) Idea 2: Give motivation to players to keep playing the game. (Not that they need it.) Have members who reach a certain Mind Power given the opportunity to become "mentorless" again. (This again would most likely have to only be for members who used the achievements box, in order to not interfere with recruiting morale.) This idea could be more flexible than the first in how it is done... Thank you for taking your time to read my ideas. If any of the previous information is false please forgive me and let me know. (I am sure you would anyway.) Two last things... one, if you can relate to dislike for being an adept please back up my post. Two, though I am not a very advanced player I still put a lot of time and effort into my ideas and I appreciate positive criticism, but not verbal lashings; please be kind, thank you.
You can change who you are an adept to whenever you want. It is the Worshipr Protector status that can't be changed (until your protector drops). SO I guess this topic can be closed? Cutler
  11. I have to agree, it took me three tries to enter 2 letters the capcha considered correct. The new colored ones are very unfriendly. Is MD really being taken over by robots? I guess the question is how unfriendly can the portal be without further damaging MD for the sole purpose to help deflect robots? When hackers who actually want to crack the capcha can crack it? Cutler

  14.
It is a guild that is being formed, which means that if you get accepted into it you would have to leave your current alliance to join it.
Is that correct? I didn't see Mur mention that guilds and alliances were the same thing. The new skills addition doesn't really have anything to do with fighting. It would make much more sense if the guilds complemented the alliance system. A woodcutting legend speaker could be different than a miner legend speaker. Cutler
  15.
I think it should be a closed bid As in everyone sends in what they will pay, and the highest wins. Because otherwise people will keep posting up the the last minute, and people will have no time to bid, and there will be upset people. Crafts
I like Origami, and I was into papercrafts 2 years ago or so. I'd actually like to see that link btw :3
I used to do modular origami when I was in grad school. It was a nice way to keep my fingers busy during somewhat dry quantum chromo-dynamics lectures. Much more acceptable than kicking paper "soccer" triangles across the room when the prof wasn't looking. Cutler

  19.
Mur did not see fit to reply to me so I will post.... as a PhD Physical Chemist who has taught classes in quantum mechanics at Stanford University, I don't need the internet, and can tell you the answer to this well-known, textbook problem -- no "image" at a mathematical point, but rather an electromagnetic wave function at that point in space that follows the blackbody spectrum, which is dependant only on temperature. The only assumption here is that since he described a "hollow sphere" this must be of macroscopic scale - and that is not much of an assumption since a smaller sphere would have had atomic fine structure and not be well modeled as a continuous sphere. Yes, radio waves can be of macroscopic scale, but you don't "see" them.
Well that's not quite correct, Actually what you are describing is the radiation solution for a perfectly reflective box with a hole through which the trapped energy escapes (and thereby you can measure the state or temperature of the radiation trapped within). For that problem, the black body solution you describe is the correct solution, but that wasn't the problem that Mur proposed. He wanted to know what "image" would appear at the center point of the sphere. The easiest way to think about this (yes many other people have already provided the solution) is to use a test object and see what it would look like at different points in the sphere. If the object is close to a wall and you were looking at the closest point on the wall, the reflection is basically the same as looking in a flat mirror. If you looked at the furthest point in the sphere from there you would see an inverted image of your test object. That is where the interesting point of the center of the sphere comes in. Light reflected off the "near" side of the sphere is reflected normally whereas light reflected off the far side of the sphere is inverted. Now move the test object closer and closer to the center of the sphere. The reflected size of the inverted and normal images increase as you approach the origin of the sphere and become less and less sharp due to the defocusing nature of the sphere near the origin. Obviously the point at which the inverted image changes to an upright image cannot be visualized because if there were an image there the light forming the image (I am speaking loosely to keep this short) could not continuously be transformed from the inverted to upright image in the limit that the test object approached the center of the sphere. The defocusing effect is what keeps the physically real system from exhibiting a paradoxical reflection. So Fyrd what you described wasn't really the question that was being discussed. Now, if the question had been about a perfectly milk radiating spherical cow, then I would have gone with your solution except I would have called it white body radiation. (I had to do something so this post wasn't completely serious, feel free to neg rep me.) Cheers, Cutler

  22. Thanks for all the Congratulations, its great to be part of a community that supports its own. Who knows in another 10 or 15 fifteen years there might be another Cutler here following in his dads footsteps. Since I couldn't resist I had to share one more picture of Tyler after he had his first bath. This may just be a new dad speaking but Tyler seems really aware for a 1 day old. 23. Yesterday around 1:30 in the afternoon my son Tyler Cutler was born after 25 minutes of labor (has anyone else ever heard of it going that fast ??!?!?!?) He is 3.3 kilos (7.4 lbs) and happy and healthy. I thought I would share an photo of him from right after he was born. [log='Click here to See the Image'][/log] So I probably wont have as much time to make quests and new puzzles, but this is another fun challenge! Sort you can choose the if you want, above active adepts, or inactive 2. Hide active, or inactive adepts well this all for now *Massive hug*
LOL I forgot all about adepts, if any of my 90 or so were active sorting them would be a nice feature. Cutler
