1. Thanks everyone for your comments. The Month of March Fishing Competition is now officially over. To summarize the overall stats for the competition a total of 20,371 pennies were earned. This translates to 203 copper coins which is the equivalent of just over 20 silver coins. Very Impressive! There were 4,901 games played in all for a total of 130 hours and 53 minutes. With the release of the Fishing system, three lands Golemus, Loreroot and Marin Bell gained the ability to have people fish at water locations in the astral plane. Due to positive feedback, this is a feature that will remain in the future. So fishing will be a new interactive game that people can play. To support this feature the three kings of the three lands with fishing each rewarded 2 WPs for the fishing game competition. The first of these 2 WPs is for the highest ranked players regardless of land affiliation and the second is to reward the highest scoring player from each of the three lands. So the three highest scoring players in the Fishing Competition were: Mighty Pirate (8759p, 1151 games played, 37h 43m, Golemus Golemicarum) Pazur (3740p, 1007 games played, 20h 25m, No Homeland) Aelis (3594p, 614 games played, 13h 18m, Lands of the East) These three players earned a total of 16,093 pennies or 79% of all the coins earned in the contest. They also played over 71 hours between the three of them. The next three highest scoring people also happen to be from each of the three supporting lands and each also earn a WP. Congratulations *Burns* (1824p, 436 games played, 12h 50m) from Golemus Golemicarum Cless (1403p, 379 games played, 7h 53m) from Marind Bell *Clock Master* (477p, 246 games played, 8h 16m) from Loreroot Overall the top 6 players earned 97% of all money made during the competition and fished a staggering 3,833 times for over 100 hours between the six of them. For people who want to test out the more advanced fishing lures and poles, the bait and tackle shops will remain open to buy and sell fishing related items in the future and there will be additional stores and competitions which will allow the use of pennies and copper coins. Nice work for those of you who found the "free" searchable item and used MasterB's talking worm as bait, that did help improve the fishing percentages and rewards. So congratulations to the six WP recipients, I hope everyone had fun with the Fishing Competition. Cheers, Cutler
2.
4 gold. ps - does it have any tokens?
This particular drachorn has no tokens. Bonus Cutler
3.
MD search engine optimization is bad, because i don't want to spam it with keywords aimed at an other kind of game. The kind of people that stay in md are interested in something else than a casual game. Think what kept you here or what made you register in the first place. Think of this, the best players registered while main page was a total disaster and are still around...so let me worry about such things.
Exactly, Mur always seems to have reasons for the things he does and if making the front page less friendly doesn't makes sense to the rest of us that's only due to our lack of insight into what he is planning. So I repeat my previous question which is more to the point, "What is Mur planning that requires discouraging most new players?" Cutler
4. A rare drachorn with a long history. This drachorn has had many more users than its current transfer count and has 138 days of age on it. Bids can be sent to me through in game PM or posted here and the highest bid will be updated here. I am usually in the Paper Cabin so feel free to look for me there. As always creative ideas or suggestions for trade will be considered Bidding will close when there are no more active bids. Cheers, Cutler
5.
Um... is the Golem even operational right now? I'll be surprised if it did
The Golem is operational now in the MD CCG (if you have a CTC to activate it). Cheers, Cutler
6. The month of March Fishing Competition is now over. Overall people fished just over 4,900 times earning a total of 20,371 pennies for a total of 130 hours of continual fishing. That was a huge amount of time and effort to be expended fishing with the first place finisher Mighty pirate by far spending the most time 37h 43m in total and earning 8759 pennies. The following people have earned a reward in the competition: Mighty Pirate Pazur Aelis *Burns* Cless *Clock Master* To receive your rewards, post a response to the following questions and I will reveal what the final rewards are and who won the WPs. Questionnaire: 1] Should the fishing system be a permanent part of MD? If so, would additional games add more to MD or just distract from what MD is all about? 2] How was the progression of upgrading the poles/lures with regards to catching fish and earning pennies? (Was there anywhere which seemed to take particularly long or was very easy?) 3] Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the fishing system? 4] Should there be more items / fish / extras included? If so what should be added and what would it do? 5] Overall what was your impression of this quest? Cheers, Cutler PS Once the 6 people who placed respond to the above questions I will post the rewards. If anyone else wants to respond with their experience that would be welcome as well.
7. I agree with you that the new front page is much less friendly to new people coming to MD, but I doubt that is the purpose for it. At this point MD is about veterans and the few people who have stuck with it in spite of the problems and current issues. Unfortunately with the "Duel" system totally broken and the "Magic" system not yet implemented for inner spells, illusions not currently being used (MP2), and most spells not generally available, it isn't surprising there are few new people staying around. With that said though, I wouldn't be surprised if Mur changed the front page on purpose to keep new people away. That would be a less drastic way of discouraging new people than completely closing the gates like Mur did not too long ago. I have come to understand that Mur often does things that don't seem to make sense at the time but may help him shed insight into how MD is functioning. To me it seems that he is more interested in seeing how small changes in the MD world affect its development than having lots of people around to experience MD. It might even be the case that Mur believes that having a smaller population makes his psychological experiments yield better results. So maybe instead of "Why is the new front page less friendly?", the question to ask should be "What is Mur planning that requires new people to be kept away?" Cutler
8.
For clarifying..you cannot play more than 100 games? It only makes sense if you write it that way, but I want to make sure just in case. Because otherwise a score with 100 wins 500 losses would win, which would be..annoying.
The max 100 games is games played not won. After you have 100 games played any further times you play wont be recorded. For those who played when we first released the game, I have started the computer at the hardest level available then and as you win more games the computer player gets better and better. I didn't want to hear any more complaining about the game being too easy. This should be a real challenge and I am extremely doubtful that anyone will be able to win all 100 played games. In fact I am so certain that I will put up a one gold coin bounty for anyone who is able to attain this feat. If someone is able to do it then that means there is still some more advanced logic programming that can be done on the computer player and I would enjoy the challenge. Good Luck everyone. Cheers, Cutler
9.
Well that's an important feature. Its a probability puzzle. By seeing your card your job is to guess what the opponent might have. If it was two cards for an extreme. You could have an elemental and a Drakhorn card. You choose health when the Drakhorn shows up and power when the elemental is your card you could set up to grantee wins. There is actually strategy when deck building. You should look at what the highest stat is and how it compares to others in order to increase your probability of winning.
Yes the score is total wins out of a maximum of 100 and minimum of 40 to be eligible for the WP prize, and Kamisha is correct that there can be some strategy in deck construction. Just one reminder when you play a game, half of the cards in play come from your deck (the strategy building part) and half of the cards come from the default deck for your mind level. So it is possible to play with cards you have dropped and it is also possible to have two copies of a single card in play. Once the deck has been chosen, the cards are shuffled and then randomly assigned to the two players. Cheers, Cutler PS Yes there is also a minimum amount of cards possible in the deck to limit extreme exploits including having less cards than are required to play.
10. The MD Creature Card Game has now been updated with lots of suggested improvements, a new competition, and a tough computer opponent. On the second of April (not the first which people might consider a joke) the first monthly CCG contest will start at the combat arena (in the MB astral plane to the left of marins marble stairs). There is now a new stats page where the current status of the competition will be displayed. This can be reached from a link at the top of the deck builder page which also allows new creatures to be added to your deck using partial CTCs. On the first of the month the currently played stats will be reset and the competition will commence. As always, if you have any suggestions for improvements to the game or any difficulties feel free to PM me in game. I can generally be found at the Paper Cabin. Cheers, Cutler
11. This one pops up when you try to upload images using the MD add image link on pages. Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /home/magicdue/public_html/lib/spaw/config/config.php on line 8 Cutler
12. Something changed in the last few hours. Now when I try to edit any of my clickables I get the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/magicdue/public_html/dlg/dlg.rpcqdocwrite.php on line 19 it looks like magicdue is spelled incorrectly above which might have happened when Mur had the server problems earlier today. Hopefully this can be fixed easily, as it is no clickables can be updated. Cutler
13.
what Grido said although I can tell you this: the picture has 7 words I messaged Cutler about re-posting the clickie (he probably forgot about that 14 days rule, the quest wasn't supposed to be that long to solve! )
Princ Rhaegar specifically wanted the forest maze to not be part of the astral plane so it is subject to the 2 week script death rule like any normal script. But I just added it as a special case to the astral eternalize script anyway so it won't ever die again. Cheers, Cutler

15. The month of march fishing competition is almost over. There are only four more days until the competition ends. If you are one of the people in the top positions you still have a little bit more time to overtake the top contenders. Also when the competition is over I would like to hear from people what they thought about the integrated fishing system as a continuing part of MD. I am open to making changes in the system or removing it completely if that is what people want. I also had some ideas for additional types of integrated game systems which could be added to the interactive inventory. Before I spend any time on those types of possibilities though I would like to assess what people felt about this one first. Cheers, Cutler
16.
Im pretty sure the math would go 5 ^ 5 which would equal 3125 combinations
Just to remark on the absurdity of this entire thread. LOL Cutler
17. Since the competition is now over, I wanted to announce that the "impossible labyrinth" will be a permanent addition to the astral plane and will provide a route to enter the GG astral plane in the same way the normal labyrinth does to enter GG. Only there will be no problem with exiting the GG astral plane back to no mans land. The bridge out is always open. Also those who are able to solve the impossible labyrinth will receive a labyrinth completion trophy in their astral interactive inventory which when used at the entrances to the labyrinth will teleport you past it. Currently the trophy is being drawn, but when it is finished I will transfer the trophy to the 3 current winners and in the future anyone who is able to complete the maze will receive it automatically. I want to commend Grido for a unique maze idea and after a few hiccups a successful maze opening and quest. Also congratulations BFH LIGHTHING, Yoshi and Pipstickz. Cheers, Cutler
18.
important is that the address is xllm113@hotmail.com. It would be sent from an administrator also hotmail has the right to freeze an account so they obviously have the right to look at your password.
Thinking like this falls under the "survival of fittest", if you can convince yourself you should be giving your password away to anyone then you deserve what happens to you. Do you really need people to tell you not to give your password away to anyone? Cutler
19. So I have wondered about this for awhile now. When the person who started a bid makes multiple "bump" posts one after another is that spam? I can understand that some people are very impatient but it is always kind of annoying to have to go look at a new post in a long dead topic forum when the creator of the category is just writing "bump". Cutler
20.
You call that avoid spam? You hereby just declared spam this topic. I'm discussing this with the other mods. Depending on what they say we might close, or even delete this.
LOL none of the other "spam" pop the bubble contests were killed. What can be more spammy than write down a number (or two) and repeat 1000 times? Cutler
21. I will bid 1 silver for the pimped grassan. Cutler
22.
please post your offer. will be open for 1 week and will be sold or traded to highest bidder at the end of the week.
1 silver for both of them. Cutler
23. Hi All, So it looks like one of the measures we implemented to try to catch people "cheating" the maze overran memory and killed the script. I deleted it and it should be all working now. Before that memory problem went only one person was caught trying to cheat the maze (cheaters are listed at the maze entrance). The maze is up now and should work for everyone who is trying the maze honorably. Cheers, Cutler
24. So should this be bumped since Nex never followed through and finished with a summary of the results? Cutler
25. Half of the month of March is now over and the fishing competition is moving forward nicely. Just to update the contest some. It seems clear that there are two types of MD fishermen, the casual fisher (earned <100 pennies) and the hard core fishermen (earned >1000 pennies). For the competition, to be eligible for a WP reward, I am setting a minimum cutoff of 1000 earned pennies. At present there are 5 people who have achieved this minimum cutoff: Mighty pirate, Aelis, Pazur, *burns*, and Cless. This doesn't mean that that they will all earn WP only that they are eligible for them. Nice work everyone who has been actively competing and hopefully the casual fishermen have been enjoying the fishing experience as well. Cheers, Cutler
