1. Welcome friend! I hope you find your time with us most enjoyable! If you ever feel bored or as if you're missing out on something, (Which hopefully you won't ) Then head to these forums! The forums have a great wealth of information as long as you look for it. One certain event you should definetly attend is Story Night! It is the greatest thing to ever come to MD, (Okay, so I may exaggerate some...) but we all do at times. Hope to see you around. ~TGW
2.
i made many avators on alote of other games using the same way the only game asking for hand drawing is these game ..... now i need to buy scanner grrrrrrr i dont think i will make it and if i did i will upload more than 3 avators in aweek i will see what will happend with me and i will keep updated
First I shall try to offer help to Alazzah. Do not give up hope friend, always look for other options. You could still do hand drawn avatars, and as far as a scanner, sometime local libraries will have printers/scanners in them that you may use. See if this is the case and maybe that will open up new options for you. [s] Now sadly, I too must present my own complaint... I submitted three avatars last month, (yes I know this was a little bit ago) but when I got a reply, all three were denied. Sadly I recived no comments on why they were turned down and have not had the time to inquire and solve the issue until now. I was wondering if anyone knows why I have recieved no comments, please help. (I have attached an image of the "no comments" area.) Thank you for any assistance. EDIT: I have added the images of the Avys... (Obviously far from skilled works, but hey I try.)[/s] EDIT2: My apologies, I have recieved a message and my problem has been solved. Thank you for your help though.
3.
how long should the story be? because i imagine if we are posting in chat that would take quite awhile to finish one story (depending on the story's length) i have an especially lengthy story in mind (it is written in a verse though so i guess it can be posted in chat) just to be clear i can send my story to either Kyphis, wanderer, or curiose - right?
It depends on the submission. From what I am getting, you will be entering a short story? In my personal opinion I would prefer them to be from around 500 to 1500 words. Any word count around there does not take up too much time and should fit in fine. As pip mentioned, you may do it in parts, even breaking it up to be read through one Story Night just at different times if wanted. (Stories are posted in chat.) Also remember, if you cannot make Story Night, please do not let that stop you from entering a story; we will find someone to read it for you. As far as who to send your story to, yes Kyhpis, Curiose, and myself are the ones to look to. However, I will usually have the most time to read and respond to entries. Though, many do tend to favor Kyphis due to his vast knowledge and experience compared to me.
4.
too bad i missed it. is there a place where i can at least see the stories?
I am sorry you could not make it, maybe next time. Also, we hope to have all of the stories that were presented to be posted in the MD Archives.
5.
I have two of my stories in my papers........my evolution. -rider
I did not mention this, but I feel that I should say something about it. Though I will be allowing works already created before hand for now, such as ones in your papers... I strongly encourage everyone to write new pieces, or stories that have not already been introduced to the MD community for Story Night. Thank you.
6. I tested the percentage change myself and came up with the following... When meditating the first time I found a 8.3% change with VE and during the second 24 hour meditation I found an about 8.2% change. I do not know if this truely is a bug or not, but until it is confirmed as one I would rather not provide evidence of this. I can however show proof if needed and asked for by a moderator.
7. Story Night Original Message: Many of you may remember Story Night, led by Keith Moon, from a long time ago. You may have thought the times of fantastic tales and poetry told within MD were over, but that is far from true! Starting September 18 (Day 260 in MagicDuel) Story Night will return through the efforts of Kyphis, Awiiya, Curiose, Ailith, and myself! It will occur once every three weeks on varying days to ensure everyone can participate. Also, in hopes of allowing everyone the chance to join us, the days Story Night happens we will do the event twice within that day. Times will vary throughout the months and will be posted at least a week in advance. In the meantime everyone is encourage to set their creative minds into overdrive and start coming up with original story ideas. Creative stories, poems, narratives, songs, comedic tales, and even some new ideas you might have are acceptable for Story Night! To get something you wrote into Story Night simply PM Kyphis or me the finished version of your work. Everything written for Story Night should have a lot of effort put into it, not just something you whipped up at the last minute. Stories that are especially good may be awarded a Wish Point from one of the Kings; Yrthilian, Lifeline, or Firsanthalas if they believe it is worthy of one. Story Night has a flexible ending time so as to fit as many of your creative stories as we can, but it will try to be kept within 1-hour and 30-minutes. If you have any questions please contact either the Legend Speakers or the Seal of Six. Until then, I wish you all the best of luck with your stories, hope to see you there! (The resurrection of Story Night was approved by its original creator, Keith Moon.) News: As you may have heard Curiose will be away for a little while, so we would be very greatful if you only sent your stories to either Kyphis or TGW. Last Story Night Both times turned out quite well. Thank you to all those who attended and I hope to see you again. For those of you who shared stories, they were all greatly appreciated. I will be posting a log of at least one event time fairly soon, for those of you who missed it. One last thing, we had some confusion as to how exactly are you to submit a story and when you are to read it. I will be creating a forum for the purpose of showing exactly what you are to do. Next Story Night Date: Nov. 13th (Day,317) Place: Fortune’s Well 1st Time: 5:00 GT 2nd Time: 20:00 GT Host: TGW & Tarquinus
8. I am constantly active and almost always meditate for 24 hours. I will also check this theory and get back to you as soon as I can.
9. The beauty of a poem is often just within itself not always what it means. Free-verse poems are more for their meaning because it does not flow together like ones with a ryhme scheme. That I why I like reading this poem aloud, it breaths life just as we do. I imagine the wind iviting me to its universe, to see, feel, and dream as it does. The wind calls to us, to know its power, there is no end to where it can go... there is not limit to how high it can fly.
10. (~The One Called Night~) In the place called Night Where the shadows call To those without sight We stumble and fall And this weary life Our eyes are blind Not a soul can see Ahead or behind We cower in fear Of this darkened place This day without light The phantom called Night
11.
OKAY! So I am on MD at the moment on My computer anddddd..... So far no Crashing. YAY!
Well I was worried there for a moment when I was reading your post, but hopefully you will return with good news! Please let everyone know if it is completely resolved or not, we would all hate to see you leave.
12.
I do love your analogies. : 3 But yes, just what is this for?
Though it does say what it is for I guess that is not quite clear. I am mearly celebrating the passing of time, to say hello to the new days and goodbye to the old.
13. So many thing go full circle, so many things come and go, so many things end to bring anew... life goes on again. ~As the sun sets in the west, it rises that same moment in the east. A dying day giving its light for another dawn... ~Without light there is no darkness, it is unknown without its opposite. A child knows not darkness until it is born into the light... ~Life must have death, with their grim friendship they keep the world in balance. Life is a battle, there are those who win and those who die... ~As a man comes down a path, he also goes from where he came. There is no destination if there was not first a journey... The stars shine through the blackened seas Is their life brought by only me Would their light shine without my sight Could their be day without last night (This is to honor both light and darkness, life and death, one existence and the other.) Thank you for reading...
14. Happy Birthday Seph! May your years be plenty and full of joy!
15.
Sorry, with single I meant random Yes that's about it, do you think it's overpowered ?
Its final stages gives it the ability to steal life from multiple enemy creatures... along with high defense this would seem to make it hard to kill, maybe just a little too powerfull? Though with some slight stat adjustments I think it could be a nice creature addition. (As far as how you would want to go about changing it, I can not really tell you. Someone with better creature creation expierence would have to give you info on it.) Sorry to add this in, but I noticed it takes it 60 age every stage to level up even to its max. Maybe it should be balanced out more... each stage taking slightly longer for age, and the first stage might want to start somewhat less age. After all it is a "seed" that can not fight, but will have to sit for around two months to reach the age needed... (just some helpful criticism.)
16.
Sounds good. But don't the contestants need to be well known and stuff for the most entertainment?
You have my support for the idea, but I do agree with Methys. The people who participate would have to be well known figures. If you could get some high ranking vets to participate, it could be quite hilarious. I also see what Akasha is saying, but though they may not want to be called Mr and Mrs magic duel they could still have a title. It really is just part of the appeal insted of claiming someone the winner, giving them a "title" would have more flair to it. So in other words I think you should still come up with a title to name them, just not what was stated earlier.
17. Creative, captivating, it is a nice story. Thanks for sharing it.
18. The last post on this topic was in 2009 and it is now late 2010. As I am still somewhat new to this and I just wanted to know if it was still alive. As I am an active writer this is something that iterests me, but if it is no more then it is no more... just a simple answer will be fine, thank you.
19. All I wish to say, is that the only idea suggested in the beginning that really stands out to me is the idle player. Though it is still not absolutely necessary it would be a nice addition to game play.
20.
The thing is with becoming an adept of someone is that once you do so it is meant to be permanent. Adding something to make it so you can become "free" just causes more harm to the system in place than good. It is an interesting concept to be able to do it, but really pointless, after all if you really want to be free become the adept of an account that is going to be removed. Look at it this way, if you taught something by someone you cannot unlearn it (no semantics please) You can get another teacher and learn new things but the fact remains at one point you were a student. In MD's case its being an adept and there is always more to learn. Just my opinion.
You have a excellent point. I do agree with you on some extent of that. The only thing is, what if you wanted to recognized for your own talents and not for the teachings of your mentor? I understand what your saying, but what about anyone who became an adept not realizing they could never be without a mentor again? They could become a great figure, but they would always be connected with their mentor. At some time or another do you not achieve enough knowledge from one person to move on and forge new boundries on your own? In a sense it could almost be like graduating from being an adept. (This would strengthen the second idea, if true.)
21. I believe it will work... given the time and effort put into it. This would certainly help motivate members to become better in everything they do and it would also be a great way to remeber the legends within our own time. I think it can be done, good luck with the development.
22.
You can change who you are an adept to whenever you want. It is the Worshipr Protector status that can't be changed (until your protector drops). SO I guess this topic can be closed? Cutler
I believe you missed the whole point of the topic. I know you can change who you are an adept of, but you cannot get rid of your adept status. (I would not have put this much thought into something that could be closed right away.)
23. My idea deals with adepts. As far as I know, (And yes I did do research on this...), if you become an adept you are one FOREVER! Now there are two ways of becoming an adept; by being recruited by a friend and starting the game as one, or through your achievements page where you can type in the name of a mentor inside a box. I have come to realize that not everyone who is an adept may want to be an adept. For those new players who are "not the brightest bulbs in the pack" may become an adept after playing for a short time, but thinking that they could always become a free man/woman again later. This is however, not true. (Or so I believe. If I am wrong than this whole post will make me the joke of MD.) Now for my "solutions"... Idea 1: Why not make money off of someone's mistake? My first idea is simply make a extra feature that allows you to lose your adept status once applied. This of course would only be available to players who became adepts by using the achievements box. (Otherwise there would be little incentive to recruit new members.) However the drawback I could see happening is that it is not possible to have the game sort between those who used the achievements box and those who started as an adept. (But with my experience with Game Development I think this shouldn't be a problem.) Idea 2: Give motivation to players to keep playing the game. (Not that they need it.) Have members who reach a certain Mind Power given the opportunity to become "mentorless" again. (This again would most likely have to only be for members who used the achievements box, in order to not interfere with recruiting morale.) This idea could be more flexible than the first in how it is done... ((Please read at least some of the later posts made by myself and/or others as they may contain good viewpoints on the idea.)) Thank you for taking your time to read my ideas. If any of the previous information is false please forgive me and let me know. (I am sure you would anyway.) Two last things... one, if you can relate to dislike for being an adept please back up my post. Two, though I am not a very advanced player I still put a lot of time and effort into my ideas and I appreciate positive criticism, but not verbal lashings; please be kind, thank you.
24.
"Yeah uh, I got bored and made a tutorial video for a friend to successfully upload the avatars they made. Apparently it works so... enjoy. The description explains what to do." [s]I know there will be a lot of sighing a banging of heads when others read this, but I had to get help. I am trying to use Adobe Fireworks to convert my avatar and I followed the tutorial Yoshi made, (Don't get me wrong, it was really helpful), but my final product still looked like something on a piece of paper, just with different shading. Yoshi's "yoshi" was noticeably transparent and mine is not. I am not sure what to do, but if anyone has any helpful ideas at what is not going right, please respond. The following attached images are the drawing and then the "converted in fireworks" image. (Thank you for any patient people who take the time to help me.) (My drawing skills are limited, so lets not make fun.)[/s] This issue has been resolved, special thanks to those who made tutorials and gave advice.
