  1. By the system, He means me.

Fang, You have always been my friend, but much too fragile when listening to bad news and your jumping to conclusions meant that before I had said half I was writing you ran off. My suggestion for the future, When you ask for advice let the person finish what they are saying.

Maybe some advice for the future Chew:

If you are going to be having a long conversation and trying to explain a point that will take more than ingame text will allow, move the conversation to somewhere private. This way you can write out and clearly explain everything in one long post, so the other person won't be able to get frustrated half way through and run off before you can finish your point.

  2. Hello, fellow Magicduel Players, I'm Vertu Honagan and I have an inquery into your minds that I would like answered. I'm planning on making a pretty decent/big ingame quest soon and I would like to pique your minds for a little preparation. Last time I made a quest, I made an impossible riddle, my way of thinking is way too different from a normal person, and I would like to see the way you all think. This way I can make challenging puzzles, riddles, and mini-games, without making anything impossible. As I do not feel there is a right or wrong answer to this, I do not feel it can be a quest with rewards. As there are no winners or lossers in this, however if someone feels that it should be a quest and wishes to give rewards for it, then by all means have a public judging on the best answers and turn it into a quest. For now, however, it shall only be used for my own information.

Here is my task to you all:

I want you to take your favorite Magicduel creature, it can be any creature in game, whether you own it or not, and I want you to give me a paragraph on that creature with these things included:

    1. Tell me the reason that you chose this creature

    2. Tell me what you believe the creatures role is in Md, and it's reason for being.

    3. Tell me why you think it has the abilities that it has and what part of your being allows that creature to use said abilities. (As MD creatures are apart of our being, some part of ourself has to have been used to create this creature. Tell me what that part is and how it affects the creatures looks and abilities.)

That is all the info that I should need. Thank you and have fun with this. :)

  3. I have always said there were not enough NPC battles and I still feel this way. The only interactions that we have from not having them are mainly people attacking and then running away, or two people allowing the others to train on them. I don't honestly feel that having more npc's will have any negative affect on the interactions of other players.

I personally would like to see more quests using clickies such as Maebius' quest A riddle, of sorts, etc. I would also like to see something done with the newly implemented clickies like the telescope. Maybe having some kind of mini-game where you have a few set's of random stars with hidden constellations inside and the player must figure out which constellation is being dipicted in that scene. Then upon giving the correct answer to all of the riddles is awarded some type of prize.

  4. I have just one comment on it:

Please get healing to work on this asap. First of all, it loads a lot faster. Secondly, it is not glitchy like the current one, and it actually shows the correct information. My normal creature page is currently so messed up, I can't even tell which creatures are dead and which ones have max vitality.

  5. For some of the above:

It's not about anyone having the wish from the wish shop. It's about being able to actually DO stuff with the clickes. More than just to put a password and show a text. She didn't ask for players with the wish bought but for players that know what an array is.

You know for some reason, I always had problems with arrays. In game programming, I always ended up just hand coding every duplicate that I wanted to make. As it ended up working out better and looking nicer. Even though the coding was way more extensive than what was necessary. lol.

Although I will say its been 8 years since I last took a game programming class, so I am not nearly as informed on game programming as I used to be. But I have been taught how to learn programming languages, so if you tell me what you are using, I should be able to get a basic programming knowledge on the coding language. (Based on having to learn Panda3D coding language from scratch to create a game for a contest.) My only knowledge in programming is in HTML, JAVA, and Panda 3D

    Edit:

Will all coders that are willing to create quests, and can keep secrets from everyone outside of our messages, please send me a private message with the header of quests. Thank you in advance.

  6. As I am a firm believer in everything being an option for everyone so long as they take the time and effort to unlock them, I believe that yes it is a good idea for Drachorns to enter the realm in this way. At least in this way you are encouraging players to not only play the game, but also create real life designs of in game creatures. You could also incorporate this into the story mode as a way of teaching players how to look into the current challenges page on their own and see all the current active quests.

As to the question in the announcement about permanent quests:

I personally feel as though permanent quests are the best kind of quests and wish that there was more of them. These quests could and should be both big and small. Meaning some are such as this build your own drachorn quest and others that take you through the realm solving puzzles, riddles, and maybe even a few fights. I don't feel as though there are enough permanent quests and for someone like me that has an extremely limited time of internet access it's very hard to participate in short time limit quests.

  7. I have taken many art classes in both high school and college, I personally can NOT draw without looking at something. This right here is the best advice I could give to someone starting out:

    http://brandyroseart.com/2013/04/06/the-upside-down-philosophy/

Read that as it is exactly what I would have wrote out except I'm lazy and don't have to since she did. :P

Also I suggest practicing drawing with the picture that she used as the example as it is the same one my art teachers used.

If you are having trouble with a good eraser I would definitely use either rubber erasers for charcoal if you ever get into charcoal drawing, and white erasers for pencil. The white erasers are by far better than the pink as they do not cause smudges and removes the lead completely. The pink ones go bad after a while and start smearing on the paper.

  8. Actually that would not be really fair as fighting groups would / could generate the large amounts of wins required to win.

We still need the "steal effect" of the win.

@Menhir: both MD & HC crisys but MD is almost impossible to change so we could concentrate on the HC.

I'm curious, how would fighting as groups and working together be any different than now? The only difference with what I suggested is that it encourages people to both actually WORK for the points, rather than sitting around, and it also helps people that want to help each other out gain wins. In fact, the only ones that it would really help if they decided to work together are people like me, if you really want to go that far. People that don't have alliances would be able to trade wins back and forth A LOT faster, and be capable of getting in A LOT more matches. Thus netting more points. Making it even harder for veterans to work together to score big points and allowing us weaker players to team together to actually stand a chance in the HC.

I have always dislike the whole stealing concept, but I also realize that with the current set up of the HC it would be impossible for most people to win if it didn't exist. So I accept it. If there was a way to be rid of it, I would rather do that.

  9. Just letting you all know that i managed to completely *cough* my laptop screen and so wont be on that much until i get it sorted out (shouldnt be too long, need it fairly urgently for work). Have fun in my absence :-D

That happened to me as well! I'm currently using a cord to hook it up to a tv screen, but I don't have own one. I'm using a friends while at his house. After I leave I won't be on for a while. :(

  10. I would actually compete in HC as an MP5, but I do not have proper internet connection to stay online long enough to actually win. So there is no point in me ever even trying to compete.

If there was any way to change the HC this would be my suggestion:

Heads are ONLY gained through combat.

A win in combat generates 3 heads.

A loss in combat generates 1 head.

    A tie generates 0 heads.

Then base the scores off of total heads count instead of points generated by the heads. This way the contest actually ENCOURAGES fighting instead of running around and hiding for 3 days straight.

  11.

You see he have the guts to tell what he thinks!! :D  That's the idea!

I'm just saying that I know a few people that are too scared to post on forums in fear of getting a bad reputation...Even when it comes to posting bugs they won't post them for this fear. I think having a reputation system in forums is just an overal bad idea.

  12. This is a forum, I don't see why a reputation system is needed. In my honest opinion, people get so wrapped up/worried about the reputation system and being "liked" that some people won't even post thier true opinions in fear of not being liked. Or even joining into opinions just so that they can feel like they are actually popular. If there was any kind of reputation it should be in game and on characters based on how the characters themselves are. Not based on every random post someone makes. It's just silly to me.

  13. Sorry I have not made a post here, I thought my post on the other topic was sufficient. I also did not feel that jail time was the correct course to take. I think that she should try to rekindle the bridge between Chewett and herself that has been extinguished. Try to become friendly towards each other, but alas, I feel that this is probably impossible now. I just want everyone to be happy and I want all of this to be done and over with. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about it that it is giving me headaches everytime it is brought up.

If Chewett wants her out and to give her a second chance and he was the one most hurt by all of this, then I feel it is not mine nor rophs place to dissagree.

  14. Next time i'll probably need to lock the thread. If you have problems with each other, discuss them in a PM, not on the forum.

Finally! This is exactly the thing I was talking about on another thread! Thanks Burns! :D

As for the topic, I think that all alts "true identities" should remain hidden, or not brought out into the open unless the owner wishes for the realm to know. Otherwise it could ruin the whole experience for the owner.

  15. I enjoyed playing my alts. In fact, my main and my alt were such different characters that no one knew we were the same person. Well, that was until FlyingChipmonk murdered my alt, but I don't think he even knew it was me. In fact, I've only recently started told one person, my alt was Wexor, in case you're wondering. His character was supposed to be defined as evil, chaotic, and insane. Creating mischief and mayhem wherever he could. Where as my main, vertu, is a reclusive, good hearted, wanderer, that protects those that aren't strong enough to protect themselves, and takes care of people when they need help.

As for asking questions as an alt instead of main, I would personally prefer that. You see back when I was mp3, not a single person would even talk to me other than Mur. So I had no where to go to get my questions asked. Back then all people would do was attack and run to sanctuary. No one would help out and I spent most my time in game trying to heal my creatures and get as many battles as I could before they were killed. 2007 was not a good time for playing MD and speaking to others. All though I did try to talk to a few players. That's probably the main reason that I forgot about the site after I got more time on my hands. I made it to mp4, got through the storyline, and then started college and 2 full time jobs to pay for college. After I got out of college, I just forgot about this site and didn't really come back to play until late 2011. I still don't really know much about....anything to be perfectly honest.

  16. @vertu so you'd prefer it if the forum was kept totally 'civil' and 'polite' and not knowing what is actually happening in the game? How the players actually are? If no one wouldn't have posted that post, you'd never have known bout his intensity of dislike for the fact that PO gets to be a fugitive. Nor would have PO responded with claim to be able to crumble MD, or dst put forward a list of accusations against PO, or that fact that a lot of other players dislike dst/support po. It was because of the intensity of his post that things got out... When people feel attacked, they tend to defend themselves and usually do so with counter accusations. Lays out the facts before us. For a game like MD, such kind of provocation is usually needed to pull out the facts.

To be perfectly honest, yes actually I would prefer that. In my opinion, those personal matters should be dealt with in private. If it can't be fixed privately then present your case to court. There is no reason to start flame wars over every little thing. Otherwise, pretty much every post certain people make are gonna be attacked by the people that dislike them with past accusations and general disagreement to every word they say. As opposed to actually being able to make unbiased decisions and listening to what is currently going on in the problem.
