1. Morph for sale again... accepting bids
2. Due to lack of offers, sharptear, imp, and joker will probably be donated as a quest prize. If you have a quest you'd like sponsored with these crits, please let me know. Otherwise they'll probably be sponsored as prizes for community garden quests/contests. Unless another offer comes in, Rein is going to Manda soon.
3. If you want to contribute toward a revival fruit recipe, now is a great time to offer suggestions. As stated at the top of the thread, strong contributions leading to implementation will be eligible for a wishpoint. The basics: Use the tea recipe as a model Think about what your cauldron will be (The recipe I intend to contribute will use some kind of 'container garden' as a cauldron) Feel free to use ideas that have been suggested already or start from scratch. Do not feel bound by the original suggested plan, but feel free to be inspired. This will be a collaborative process and the final result will likely use elements from many contributions. Thanks everyone!
4. Just switched to a new android phone (samsung gs3) running Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). MD is a surprisingly usable experience. I can do just about everything I can do on my macbook, with very little navigation trouble. MD always crashed my previous phone (motorola droid/milestone) running Froyo (Android 2.2) within 5 minutes of gameplay. Can anyone else comment on their experience trying MD on Android?
5. Would the conversation be different if the demand was not GC but credits? If I'm not mistaken our GC:credits ratio is 1:5. So Seigheart's revival would cost him $175? We can draw a line between players and characters, but I think that line between black and white can become a big grey area.
6. Why is trading restricted? I have a CTC. I've seen lots of morphs for sale in the past year. None of them were morphed?
7. Rumi

9. Do I need to find the lvl 1 and lvl 2 r&c achievement clickies before I can actually use a research point to unlock a clue?
10. I didn't know I had 10 free research points. How do I access them?
11. On Day 185, Year 7, Phantom Orchid and Rumi planted pumpkins in the pumpkin patch in the community garden. Those of you who have followed the Community Garden Design thread will know that the pumpkin patch is a part of the garden most associated with Necrovion. The contest has three parts and a bonus part (not required for completion - but it will help you win). The entry for each part MUST be posted in the appropriate section of the community garden forum. I apologize for the confusion this will surely cause. PM entries to me as well so I can look over them as a group. 1) Draw one or more scarecrows for the pumpkin patch. PART 1 ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN ARTWORK THREAD http://magicduel.inv...garden-artwork/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2) Submit a list of steps required to construct the scarecrows (and maybe bring them to life? ) Include a list of resources and items needed. Do not hesitate to be creative if a resource or item you have in mind has not yet been seen in the realm. And don't forget the bones! PART 2 ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN DESIGN THREAD http://magicduel.inv...-garden-design/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3) Submit an essay about pumpkins and why they would relate to Necrovion. PART 3 ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN RESEARCH THREAD http://magicduel.inv...arden-research/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BONUS: The pumpkin patch will be companion planted with corn and pole beans. Suggest some other companion plants for a pumpkin patch and explain why they make a suitable plant guild. BONUS ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN PLANT LIST THREAD http://magicduel.inv...den-plant-list/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The best entry will win a wishpoint if it shows merit enough to deserve one. Otherwise, awards will be distributed from the Community Garden treasury. More information on judging and prizes will be posted soon. UPDATE: Joshdragon is directly sponsoring the contest with an imperial aramor and a joker. These will be awarded along with other prizes. CONTEST DEADLINE: September 22, 2012
12. Rumi and Phantom Orchid (with a little help from Etluc and Eon) prepared some pumpkin patch beds and planted pumpkin seeds. [04/07/12 19:14] :Phantom Orchid nods [04/07/12 19:15] :Rumi takes a few pieces of raw glass and begins to set them on a rough contour just above the valley bottom [04/07/12 19:16] Rumi:When we construct the main garden, we'll use a tool to define accurate contours [04/07/12 19:17] Rumi:I can see the contours well enough to give us lines to start this small pumpkin patch [04/07/12 19:17] :Rumi sets another contour using the raw glass just above the first contour [04/07/12 19:18] :Rumi steps back and examines the lines [04/07/12 19:19] :Phantom Orchid kneels down at the site for the pumpkin patch [04/07/12 19:19] :Rumi sets a third line of raw glass just below the first contour, following the same curve [04/07/12 19:19] Rumi:that will do for now [04/07/12 19:20] :Phantom Orchid takes the pendant from around her neck and holds it out above the ground [04/07/12 19:20] Rumi:we'll shape a few rows across this bottom to this same curve as the bottom contour [04/07/12 19:21] :Rumi withdraws his hori-hori from its sheath on his belt [04/07/12 19:21] :Phantom Orchid hums an ancient tune to the grass and to the flowers [04/07/12 19:21] :Rumi holds it up and examines the blade in the sunlight [04/07/12 19:22] :Phantom Orchid closes her eyes and focuses on her pendant, which begins to glow red and push aside the grass and flowers to make room for the seeds [04/07/12 19:22] :Rumi reflects the sunlight up the hill at Eon and giggles [04/07/12 19:23] :Phantom Orchid replaces her pendant, looks over at Rumi and softly laughs [04/07/12 19:24] :Rumi thrusts the hori-hori into the ground and draws it across the soil, following the curve laid by the pieces of raw glass [04/07/12 19:24] :Rumi picks up each piece of raw glass as he comes to it [04/07/12 19:25] :Rumi steps back and looks at the curve cut into the earth [04/07/12 19:26] Rumi: *smiles* that looks pretty good [04/07/12 19:26] :Phantom Orchid uncorks her flask of sand, and pours a thin line of sand into the small valley shaped by the hori hori [04/07/12 19:26] Phantom Orchid:This sand is from Necrovion [04/07/12 19:26] Rumi:ah, excellent [04/07/12 19:27] :Phantom Orchid caps the flask and tucks it away [04/07/12 19:28] :Rumi kneels back down and thrusts the hori-hori into the ground just below the cut curve [04/07/12 19:28] :Rumi digs around, expanding the hole and loosening the soil [04/07/12 19:29] :Rumi withdraws the hori-hori from the hole, and walks along the curve a short distance [04/07/12 19:29] :Rumi thrusts the hori-hori into the ground again, teasing and loosening the soil [04/07/12 19:30] :Phantom Orchid moves over to the first hold and holds out and opens her hand, revealing the seeds [04/07/12 19:30] :Rumi withdraws the hori-hori from the soil and continues walking along the curve, making evenly spaced planting holes [04/07/12 19:31] :Phantom Orchid chooses one and places it gingerly into the hole, a single teardrop falling onto the soil next to it [04/07/12 19:31] :Phantom Orchid sets the seeds down, and covers the hole with dirt and softly packs it down with her fingertips [04/07/12 19:32] :Rumi comes to the end of the row and moves up to the next row of raw glass pieces [04/07/12 19:33] :Rumi cuts the curve with his hori-hori, while picking up the pieces of raw glass [04/07/12 19:34] :Phantom Orchid places one, and then another, seed into the holes and carefully covers them with soil [04/07/12 19:34] :Rumi finishes the row and steps back to look at it [04/07/12 19:35] :Phantom Orchid stands and then follows Rumi, placing a thin line of sand along the contour of the small trench [04/07/12 19:36] :Rumi examines the first row that Phantom Orchid has completed planting [04/07/12 19:36] :Rumi smiles [04/07/12 19:37] :Rumi returns to the second row and begins cutting the holes with his hori-hori [04/07/12 19:39] :Rumi finishes the row and steps back to allow Phantom Orchid space to plant the seeds [04/07/12 19:39] :Phantom Orchid walks along and bends down to place the remaining two seeds into the holes [04/07/12 19:39] :Phantom Orchid kneels to cover them with a soft packing of dirt [04/07/12 19:41] Phantom Orchid:We should give them a drink [04/07/12 19:41] Rumi:yes we should [04/07/12 19:41] Rumi:but first, we need to mulch [04/07/12 19:41] Rumi:we could use leaves or we could cut some grass [04/07/12 19:41] Rumi:or both [04/07/12 19:42] Phantom Orchid: *nods* Yes, of course. To keep it from evaporating under this unforgiving sunlight [04/07/12 19:42] Rumi:i wish Shem was here... his sickle would make quick mulch out of this tall grass [04/07/12 19:42] Phantom Orchid:I will gather leaves from the forest edge, and you can cut some grass [04/07/12 19:42] :Phantom Orchid nods [04/07/12 19:43] Rumi:i guess i'll just use the hori-hori [04/07/12 19:43] :Rumi walks around the meadow near the pumpkin patch stopping to cut clumps of tall grass with the hori-hori [04/07/12 19:44] Phantom Orchid: * walks over to the edge of the wood and clumsily gathers an armful of leaves, muttering* And a basket would have been nice for me [04/07/12 19:44] Rumi:Eon, would you let Phantom Orchid borrow your herbs basket? [04/07/12 19:45] Rumi:I see you have two baskets... maybe you could help us collect some leaf mulch [04/07/12 19:46] Phantom Orchid:Come Eon, get dirty with us! [04/07/12 19:46] :Phantom Orchid shrugs and delivers the leaves near the first row [04/07/12 19:47] :Phantom Orchid walks back and begins to gather more [04/07/12 19:47] Rumi:should we do leaves in one row and straw in the other, or mix em up? [04/07/12 19:48] :Etluc whispers a code to Poe [04/07/12 19:48] Phantom Orchid: *walks back with an armful* I don't know, I've never done this before [04/07/12 19:49] Rumi:lets use leaves in the top row and straw in the bottom row... we'll see if there is a difference in the mulch ecology [04/07/12 19:49] Phantom Orchid: *turns and smiles to Etluc* Oh, thank you. Though I think we have enough leaves now [04/07/12 19:49] Phantom Orchid:Would you like to place them along the top row Etluc? [04/07/12 19:49] :Rumi sets an armful of straw beside the bottom row and walks off to collect a bit more grass [04/07/12 19:50] Etluc: *nods* Sure [04/07/12 19:51] Phantom Orchid:Great [04/07/12 19:51] :Etluc begins to move the pile of leaves to the top row [04/07/12 19:51] :Rumi cuts several clumps of tall grass from around the meadow and returns to set them down by the bottom row [04/07/12 19:54] :Rumi picks up handfuls of straw and walks along the bottom row, allowing the straw to slow fall down and coat the bare earth [04/07/12 19:54] :Rumi returns to the pile of straw and grabs some more handfuls to distribute [04/07/12 19:55] :Etluc finishes moving the leaves and steps back [04/07/12 19:56] :Rumi continues mulching the bottom row with straw until the pile has been entirely moved to the row [04/07/12 19:56] Rumi: *laughs* we're gonna probably move all this mulch to the side tomorrow when we plant the corn and beans with the pumpkins [04/07/12 19:57] Rumi:labor of love [04/07/12 19:57] :Phantom Orchid chuckles [04/07/12 19:57] :Etluc chuckles [04/07/12 19:57] Rumi:better to do the same task twice than to plant seeds and leave the earth bare [04/07/12 19:58] :Rumi steps back with Phantom Orchid and Etluc to examine the new pumpkin patch [04/07/12 19:58] Phantom Orchid:Yes, they require the sunlight, but also some protection from it [04/07/12 19:59] Phantom Orchid:Not unlike us all [04/07/12 19:59] :Rumi smiles [04/07/12 19:59] :Phantom Orchid looks out over the pumpkin patch and smiles contently [04/07/12 20:00] :Rumi used the Weather Heavyrain stone to increase its Weather-heavyrain spell casts [04/07/12 20:01] :Etluc looks up at the sky [04/07/12 20:02] :Rumi kneels down on his knees, raises his arms, and looks up at the sky [04/07/12 20:03] :Rumi closes his eyes [04/07/12 20:03] :[Spell] Let the heavens and the earth come together and bless these pumpkins with rain! [04/07/12 20:03] :Rumi opens his eyes to see clouds begin to gather above him [04/07/12 20:04] :Phantom Orchid looks up and smiles as the rain begins to kiss her face [04/07/12 20:05] :Rumi tastes the raindrops as the rain begins to stream down from the heavens onto his face [04/07/12 20:05] :Phantom Orchid runs up the hill ecstatically and twirls around in circles, drenched in a heavy rain [04/07/12 20:06] :Etluc smiles at Poe, blinking the rain out of his eyes [04/07/12 20:07] :Rumi watches Phantom Orchid and smiles at her shimmering radiance in the rain [04/07/12 20:08] :Rumi takes off his shirt and dances around the pumpkin patch [04/07/12 20:08] Etluc:My fire! 13. @phantasm This is not an opportunity for you to HELP. This is the core of the community garden. This is a place for YOU to grow food and medicine for yourself. @Grido Community Garden treasury has been growing and soon we will be spending as well. Funds will go to projects, quest rewards, tools, services, and all the other things money can buy (money can't buy me love ).
14. Nightbane Strongarm has donated the following: 10 mineral water 2 rainwater 13 water
15. UPDATE: 5/18/13 SIGN UP HERE IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE A PLOTHOLDER. THERE IS NO MASTER LIST, BUT USE THE COMMUNITY GARDEN LOGS SO I CAN SEE WHAT YOU'RE UP TO. The Community Garden will be ready very soon for everyone to begin gardening. We have not begun digging the main garden beds yet, and we need to determine how many plots to prepare and what size to make them. Plots will be available for seasonal (3-month) or yearly lease, with all funds going to the community garden treasury (probably soon to be held independently by TK). For the next month, a seasonal lease on a small plot will be available for free. The seasonal lease for these first plots will go from 8/1/12 until 11/1/12. Perfect time to grow some fall crops. After this opening period, the lease price for a seasonal plot will likely be a handful a silver. Those who sign up for a free plot and wish to switch to a larger yearly lease plot will not be prohibited from moving to a larger plot. More details to come. Anyone interested in gardening, feel free to sign up below.
16. Summer Sabbat 8/1/12 From MagicDuel Calendar: August 1: Day of the Third Digest

Ireland: Lughnasadh
England and Scotland: Lammas or Lambess
Ancient Rome: Celebration of the aquiring of Egypt
Lughnasadh is the first day of Autumn in Ireland, and is one of the four major festivals on the Irish Calendar. The day is celebrated with bon fires and dancing. Lammas is the harvest day for wheat, and in ancient times people would bring loaves of broad made with the new harvest to the church as an offering. Octavus, a Roman General and later Emperor on this day attained all of Egypt and added it to the Roman Empire. Celebrations throughout the Empire abound, with much drinking and feasting.
17. Everyone knows flash is a lousy experience on a touchscreen. MD seems well suited to a touchscreen (although touchscreen typing generally sucks). Can magicduel/mobile be implemented with a touch friendly interface?
18. The aramor was donated to Falronn, who has developed a connection with Abra and worked hard to free him from GG. Mods, please close topic
19. June 30 or July 30? (tomorrow or one month from now?)
20. Whoops, I forgot about this thread. 7sc
21. Here's another thought - maybe a good one, maybe not Do you all think there is value in having a very elaborate, detailed, difficult, communal, one-time ritual/process (involving massive amounts of heat and diverse resources) to have the Apple Tree created, and then the Golden Apples be fairly easy to come by and use? Would this be so much different than Grido or Eon working hard or spending money to acquire such an item? Once they acquired their items, how difficult is it for them to activate them? The only difference is this shared stationary item would be owned by the community instead of an individual. Just like them, we would choose to use it as we see fit. Surely we as a community can come up with more money, resources, energy, Time, research, heat, etc. than any individual. Does the bar for use need to be set higher because of collective ownership/action?
22. I know every one of us has thought about it at some point. The whole world is movIng toward mobile platforms, and it would be nice if we could embrace it. That's right, the MagicDuel app. I sometimes use magicduel.com/mobile on IOS and Android, which which works fine but clearly has its limitations. Flash for android does not really work for MD. Obviously, a functional mobile app is a very tall order, but maybe something to start thinking about? The nature of the game is well suited to the small screen, I think. I'd like to hear from the coders and rendril, council, and Mur, if there is feasibility to this. A mobile version might increase the player base substantially. Here's to the future!
23. Thanks to everyone for contributing your ideas. I hope to you'll all contribute other new ideas, and elaborate on the ones you've mentioned. It sounds to me like the consensus is moving toward a shared, stationary cauldron (Apple Tree), which creates a Revive Fruit (I, too, like the idea of a "Golden Apple"). Phantom Orchid has suggested she is willing to sacrifice her personal item (The Apple Branch) to the community to create this living cauldron. I think Fyrd's concern about the volume of revival consumables is justified. If it takes massive amount of resources and energy to enact a revival, it would be a shame if we have to pick and choose who can be revived, until more resources can be gathered (at which time, there could be more dead). I think it's important that when the community puts energy into the Apple Tree, we can make it fruit in sufficient abundance to revive all the dead, and not be harvested to depletion before any can be revived. Again, I like the idea of the Apple going bad, and presenting some risk to those who would use such a magic. This would balance the necessary widespread availability of the item. There should be some regularity to the Apple Tree's production, not a guaranteed revival period, but a reliable opportunity for the community to step in and help. As Apophys suggests, maybe the apples should have another use, and require charging through a heat-letting ritual to give them power over death. I also like the inclusion of tranquility days as part of the process. Do you all think that the elimination of heat buildup through dueling would have a positive or negative impact on the process? I'd like to keep hearing ideas from you all, so we can develop this framework more fully. If possible, please try to keep the thread on topic. While the recent deaths helped to bring about this idea, we're working to develop a long-term solution for death and revival. Keep it coming, folks.
