You misunderstand me. That was just a reply to your own definition of it. My point was to tell you that something unintended is happening (ring ring :D) I actually do this and have a considerable amount of data gathered up, and I continue to do it. Apparently it's never enough to prove my suspicions, but I will keep doing so until some sort of action is taken. Its not that obvious but it becomes so if you look at them as a whole, which unfortunately no one can/does.

Happy birthday :)

And if a huge proportion of rep is given by a few people only repeatedly no matter what incredible reasons they seem to claim, there is definitely something wrong because it is not "general agreement/disagreement".

What is Change (the player/character), and should I abandon her?
DARK DEMON replied to Change's topic in General Forum
We were already treating each other as brother and sister, no difference if the actual players suddenly made it official. These things develop over time, it wasn't random like I walk up to Amber and claim she's my sister lol :P About the Granos thing... well, he introduced many things to me including the Taint, and I was impressed by his roleplay, and from that point on I started my own roleplaying concerning Void and Taint (not that the two are linked :P)... now you tell me, could I have ever thought I'd pursue this during the first year and a half of my time in MD? There is absolutely no harm in creating an alt. My only objection to your creating another account was that you would do it just to select principles or change your name again... which would show you never really found meaning in it. -

Things such as "when Peace decided to become daughter of Khal" can happen a few days into the game, or a few years. Talking from DD's (my character's perspective), I decided to become Vicious Chaossword's brother a few days into the game when we started rp-ping together, and it sorta came naturally. Almost right after that my relationship with Lin began. Years later, I met this guy due to random curiosity (his name is Granos :P) who just changed me completely once again and gave me a purpose in MD. I never knew that, did I? :) -

How about Council signing through SS or KC or whatever? :P -

Dark Demon the character turned out quite surprising, at least for me. You think I'd decided, when beginning, exactly what I was gonna do/be/act like? I believe the rest of MD should be able to tell you how indecisive I was and how much I kept "switching" between stuff like trying to be Death, then maybe leader of Guardians, or even The Restorer once, but none of them were really "me" even though I thought it that way and tried to be them. I used to think stuff like "maybe if my principles or name was XXX instead, I could play this role better", but now I am so glad I decided to stick to Dark Demon as I'd created him at the start, just from my intuition and not thinking how it would cause selection of race/class/skills like in other RPG's, and I'm happy playing him the way he is. "But Peace the player, Dark Demon the player, and so on, all have things to aspire to, to look at to get them back on track." To this I will just say that the only things I look back and reflect upon are my mistakes. I don't have a "way of playing" or a "pre-made role" written down somewhere which I refer to. When my "track" changes, I follow the change rather than trying to revert back to who I wanted to be. I'd rather accept who I am and start liking it, and hence develop it. Change is a character you have created, and in my last post I indirectly suggested you to continue developing and making a unique character out of Change. You'll find you can do wonders with Change. Also, I seem to think you misinterpret others' "premade characters". We have only decided their background beforehand, that's all. Whatever happens to our characters in game and how they develop is mostly real-time and related to how we, the actual players, would react and change. You wouldn't believe how often I wished in-game my name wasn't Dark Demon, but then I see people named Peace as queen of the land of shades, someone named Sunfire a leader of the forest, a 12-year old playful child (who Syrian plays) as a Protector, and then realized that our roles come automatically the way we decide to play there and then everyday, not what we thought of when the game began... -

Hmm, let me tell you something, Change. All those people, including me, who come into the game with a -character- and are interested in the rp part of the game, are part of the norm. You are an exception, and instead of thinking yourself as special and unique, you think you are way behind others since you have not even decided who you are. Yes, you are change, but that is a word which everyone interprets in a different way and shows in a different way. Have you ever thought of yourself as a character who is never meant to be understood by others; who doesn't have a predefined "life as a character"? Someone who can be, or change into, whatever she wants, whenever she wants, being free, not being restricted by any land? Why must you try and be part of the norm when your character is not... Instead, try and see how you actually truly fit in your character which you yourself created when you thought what was best, without anything else influence you, without you knowing that this is what you actually are and wish for, and not some cool fancy stuff which you notice in other characters that seems attractive to you temporarily. Resetting your stats/principles/etc is and choosing them again sounds like you are born and when you finally realize what life is about, you want to restart and be born again with your desirable qualities. But no, you cannot have that chance, you're not meant to have that chance. You're meant to live with what you have the best way and find meaning and importance in it, and then you'll actually start enjoying it and eventually reach a realization, the best realization you will ever come to see in your life... Of course, what I am saying here can be misunderstood, but try and grasp what I'm trying to say. If you wish to speak more, I'm only a PM away. -
Happy birthday :)

Yeah, that is a way to avoid it but the issue remains. Its not just limited to BPG. The point is that its wrongly forcing idle when you're not actually idle. I talked to Chew about this and he said if its unintended to force idle, its falls under category of bugs.
-
A person when not idle, and staying in the same scene doing stuff like solving the BPG, will get kicked out into idle mode after a while and this causes problems such as resetting BPG. The issue is that it's unintended to kick someone out into idle more when s/he is not idle and is doing something.
-
Of course, but then why? Tell me a reason, not a "not to" reason. If it is being shown, in bright green and red, on every profile and every post, it does have some important reason doesn't it? What is that?
-
@Chew: You tell me. What is the purpose of a reputation system existing and being on display for all to see?
-
Actually, thinking more about it... its easily avoidable... one can just neg rep 3 or 4 a day to seem less suspicious rather than all at once.
-
Wont bother replying to the trash above, but the solution you state sounds something good to think about :) Never did. Just food for thought.

Lol, thats YOUR opinion, coming from a 5 year+ vet, thinking everyone's obsessed with their ego just like you are. Your post clearly shows you have no idea how a new guy thinks. In MD the one of the main things I've learned is that first impression will always remain last impression, apart from few exceptions. Sure, for those few exceptions, in time they realize the truth and sooner or later the new guy will see for themselves who is good or not for themselves, so in that case rep becomes very inaccurate. So what's the point of measuring something (i.e rep) which shows very inaccurate results? This was my point. Not everyone is obsessed with their ego, ya know.
-
The issue about neg rep is that it is not just a "number". Its not just limited to personal offense. Anyone new to MD would see the rep system as a basis for judging people, and giving neg rep for unreal reasons and just because I want to and just because its my feature to use any way I like gives wrong impressions and basically controls who are "the good guys" and "the bad guys". This is why it does matter. @Chew, I stated: Of course, the complaint by person Y must be valid as well and give evidence of actual spam not meaningful neg rep in which many others also give neg rep... so that everyone doesnt just start complaining against those they dont like each time they give neg rep. If person X does give a valid reason and states an argument as to why s/he disagrees, then of course person X is safe and Y would be forwarded the argument. This is not a matter which can be solved automatically, there must be someone to judge and see which side is correct. The problem, because no one wants to lose friends, is just: who? I don't mind rep system being the way it is, but if it is used incorrectly, there has to be something done...
-
Basically, why do people complain? Because other people make them uncomfortable, or annoy them, or hurt them, or offend them, or generally give them a hard time It can NOT be said that person X doesnt mean to annoy person Y, and hence person X is innocent.... because person Y IS getting annoyed by person X's actions. And hence person Y complains. And if the community is to be cared about, the complaint must be heard and some action must be taken. Person X must be told to stop doing what person Y complained about, aka given a warning. If person X continues, regardless of warning, just "because I can" or "because I can use rep system any way I like" or some other stupid reason, the ability to give rep would be removed. Of course, the complaint by person Y must be valid as well and give evidence of actual spam not meaningful neg rep in which many others also give neg rep... so that everyone doesnt just start complaining against those they dont like each time they give neg rep. In other words, the rep system cannot be used "any way I like", it has a purpose that must be followed or it will be removed from you. P.S: Intrigue's idea is awesome.

I will not say a word of this here. You have a PM. Yes, but couldn't find it.
-
Yeah, what Syrian said. I an just posting it here because, while everyone knows/assumes it's a bug whenever it pops up, no one bothered to post it. In other words, it is known.

I meant that I would want them if I could get them without any trouble, but since it is difficult I prefer not to want one. So yes, you can treat my case similar to anyone who doesn't want a title doc

No, they automatically just disappeared after filling my whole screen for a second or two, so I could not. Okay, thanks :)

He cast silvertoungue on you earlier, I believe spells don't work while under the influence of that? Of course, I cant even cast a spell while silvertongued. I casted it after it wore out. No, because I did not do anything to cause it in the first place. Question is if Eon can reproduce it or not. Or if it is not anyone's intention/fault/abuse, then I'm reporting it as a bug which should be fixed to prevent such spell dodging from happening in the future.
