1. Alright! We've started separating the AL branches up and putting them in order as well! In the process we are also reediting many of them to correct spelling and grammar that we missed from long ago. Of course, the process takes time. We only have the Golemus Wizard and RJ's Dragon quests so far, but the others are being worked on. Thanks for the idea!

2. All is dark at first.

She can hear her own breathing. She can feel a faint breeze. She attempts to move but her limbs do not respond. The breeze becomes a gentle wind, carrying the scent of earth and fresh rain. A shape begins to distinguish itself before her: tall, strong, ancient. She gazes on it and sees familiarity: braches reach up in to the sky and root dig deep within the land. There is a rush of wind and she closes her eyes.

When she opens them again, Amoran finds herself standing before the Oak Fort in the middle of a great field, surrounded by tall grasses and flowering plants. The sun is bright and cheerful in the blue sky, warming her, the ground, and the air. She feels at peace here; she feels at ease.

A sound from the other side of the tree draws Amoran’s attention. She walks around to the side to see a woman, dressed in full armor, on one knee and panting heavily. Amoran moves forward to offer help, but the woman stands and squares her shoulders. Amoran smiles at the woman before her who is similar in appearance, yet with slightly darker and harder features. “Greetings, Kalamanira Kol,” Amoran offers with a smile. Her greeting is returned with a steely gaze.

“Why have you brought me here, Amoran? Why did you bring me to such a place?”
“Do you not like it, Kalamanira? Is it not beautiful?”

Kalamanira narrows her eyes and glares at Amoran. “You have a strange sense of beauty, ‘sister.’ This place is full of pain, of battle, of death.”

Amoran laughs a moment then stops when she realizes that Kalamanira is serious. “What do you mean? There is nothing but peace and…” She stops as Kalamanira steps toward her and hisses.
“This is a battlefield, Amoran! Can you not hear the screams and moans of the dying? Do you not smell burning flesh, the blood spilled upon the ground?” Amoran looks at Kalamanira in confusion, slowly shaking her head. “This place is dark!”

“But…” is all she can say when the wind picks up again, cold and biting. The wind blows strong, kicking up bits of dirt which sting Amoran’s face and hands. She turns her back to the wind and keeps her head down. She no longer feels the warmth of the sun or of the earth. When she looks down, the earth is pale and cracked. She lifts her head to see the verdant plain fade to be replaced with the battlefield Kalamanira spoke of. The sky has paled and the sun is a cool mockery of what it was before. Sunddenly, her senses are assaulted by the stench of burning and death. Amoran is overwhelmed, dropping to her knees and retching.

When she stands again, Kalamanira is standing before her with the same look as before. Amoran looks around at the wasteland battlefield. She turns to look behind her and gasps. The Accursed Growth now stands where the Oak Fort was just moments before. “Kalamanira… the plain… the Oak Fort… What is happening?”

“Does it matter, Amoran? There is no beauty here, no peace. There is only struggle here. The strong survive and the weak perish – the way it has always been for us, for our people, and for all living things.” A Kalamanira’s eyes flash and she moves toward Amoran.

“I am the strong one, Amoran. I am the warrior. You are nothing; you are weak. I am tired of having to share this life with you, this mind and soul. I will conquer you here and I will be whole again!”
Amoran shrinks away from the coming attack and dodges at just the right moment to avoid being split upon Kalamanira’s blade. This is it! she thinks to herself. This is my trial! But… what do I do?

What do you think Amoran should do? Your words will affect this player, so think and speak carefully.

3. The dais is silent as the light flares again. Bootes steps out of the light and off the platform, hefting his equipment behind him. Nearby, Nelya kneels on the ground with notes piled in front of her. She studies the book in her hands intently, turning the ancient pages with care. Bootes adds another scrap of paper to the growing pile and sets his pack aside.

“That’s the Eighth site Today and the fifth with the Same measurements. I think there is a Pattern. Have you found anything In that Tome?”

“It speaks of night and of the moon, yet it mentions nothing about how night came to be. None of these others mentions how or why night ended,” Nelya says as she places her hand on a stack of books. She tilts her head and the wind catches her hair, draping it across her face. She frowns slightly as she brushes it away, “Bootes, you think there is a connection, though? You think something is going to happen?”

“Nelya, give me your Map,” he says with a slight smile. “These are the places today where the Measurements Are the same as here, at the Pillars of Harmony.” He points to several locations on Nelya’s map. “Do you notice Anything about them?” His smile widens as she looks over the map.
Bootes digs around in the piles of notes and pulls out several scraps of paper and places them before Nelya. “Now look At this. These are all the Points from yesterday where the measurements Were the same as those I took here. A similar phenomenon Occurred. You see it, Too?”

“I think I do…” she trails off as she thinks. “If what you’re saying is true, then… they should be the same here and here, as well.” Nelya points to two more points on her map. Several moments pass before the frown returns. “But, Bootes, what is does it all mean? What connection do the Pillars of Harmony have with the moon?”

Bootes’ smile falters for a moment as he hesitates. “… I cannot Say for sure. But, Nelya… there has to Be a connection. This can’t be Coincidence. There is A connection and I will find out what It is. And, together, we will discover it and see the Moon in this Land again.”

Nelya extends her hand and grasps Bootes’ and smiles. “Yes, we will work together and solve this mystery.” Working together, the portal at the Pillars of Harmony flares to life again and Bootes steps through, continuing to record his findings while Nelya reads into the lore of the lost moon.

This call goes out to all amateur astronomers and lore seekers: Nelya and Bootes need help in determining the possible patterns connected to the Pillars of Harmony and what they might mean when associated to the moon. Post your ideas, maps, and theories here.

4. mythology sounds great.

Liberty, by uncommon studies, I mean things that shed new light on a standard method of thinking. For instance, the Legend Studies in the Archives. Those articles give a different meaning to what we currently identify symbols as.

5. Aha! This is splendid! I'll be getting ahold of all of you as soon as I can. (It may take a little more time than usual...it would seem my spaceship just went out of commission and I'll have to do a bit of work on it before it's working again, so I have to actually hunt you the old fashioned way. ;))

6. Greetings again MDans. As I'm sure many of you have seen in the announcements, the Archives are more or less up. Who can be an author is still very strict though. Those of you who wish to make some additions to the Archives, please post here what you want to write about, and what sort of things you have knowledge/experience in. (Hopefully the two coincide. :P Please do not try and sign yourself up for the Archives without talking to me first. Chances are, I'll just disapprove your membership. ^ bolded because no one seems to notice it.

If you have questions, feel free to ask.

At a later time, I will have an appointed Archive Manager who will also be able to approve your membership. I will edit this when that time comes.

Thank you,

7. Both of these are great ideas that will be dealt with soon hopefully. (Though, not quite as soon as we hope. There are more pressing matters first). I believe the two will be combined. The completed branches will be rearranged oldest to newest in their own section (somehow, somewhere). And the ongoing branches will remain as they are. That's the idea for now anyways. We'll see what ends up happening. -_-

8. You guys keep veering very off topic. I haven't deleted any posts because I only vaguely care. But, the rules must be followed or the threads have no respect. Please return to topic.

I don't really have anything to add to the speculation here, though. So, I'm off topic too. -_-;

9. I quite agree with dst here...though, I have other reasons that have more to do with the sort of alliances being pursued...An alliance similar to the Marind Rescuers that Aqune mentioned wouldn't be bad at all though...assuming it was approached properly... The Soldiers of the Inner Sun are in MB, btw.

Now...concerning the alliances...their sizes and the lands they represent become factors... The Necrovion Sentinels is a large alliance that is singular rather than many different alliances bidding for control over its land.. much like the shades aren't individuals in thought but more like a well of existence. Whereas the GG is full of nutjobs who want to understand new things, and LR is full to the brink with people trying to improve themselves and push others out.

So...I guess what I'm getting at, is that simply the variety of alliances is not all there is to the subject. The NUMBER of alliances is less important if the land is not being pursued. A new company opens when someone takes the time to start it...not when an outside group creates it and throws in a random person who only vaguely wants to be a part of the operation, and then gives up because they're lost... That is, of course, a slippery slope logical fallacy, but not at all inconceivable...The problem is most people don't see that. It sounds like the best idea, even though the confounding variables are just that. confounding...

Geez I veer off point when I try to explain things. Long story short, alliances will come when they deserve it. It's not really something that needs to be argued. Deserve it and make sense. I can't stress that enough.. Just because you can explain something, doesn't mean it makes sense for it to exist in the realm...

Gross...can't believe I'm siding with dst.... :D))

10. Okay! I'm finally back. :) I'm not almighty important enough for Manu to give me an announcement like Shoeps though. :D Thanks for the cookie. :)

Treehill....what exactly do you mean by changing the AL through a doc...You mean going back in time on its pages to edit it? You most likely won't get the ability. Manu is rather touchy about people who aren't the original author editing things...or so I've heard. :)

11. Well, it might not work quite as easily as you would like... from what I've seen, Manu also doesn't like stepping on the RPCs feet, if he can avoid it. phrog's story branch was supposed to give him control over drachorns as well... RJ wouldn't hear of it. I'm still waiting to see if Manu will give in and let phrog join the fray. The idea is that there is no ONE way to get something in the game. ANY

EDIT: Thus, the system looks weak right now, but that's mostly because it's small. Give it time to grow. :)

12.
ren you hang out in a dead girl's room

13. I really need to read the forums more often. Sorry about that. You're fairly accurate in your descriptions of the Archives, bootes. There are, of course, variations left and right, but that's the gist... Of course, there should be more RL things than MD things..but I'll talk about that later. :D

As for the dimensions...I agree with Bootes.. Particularly about the perceptions.

But, can we stay somewhat on topic here please?
