You can have fun and rp WITHOUT an ally.

@Granos> there are many (of not most of) other exisiting alliances that have no real purpose or specifically coded function (like Fusioneers heat fusioning fuction or TK with their treasury function). But still those alliances are there, some of them lacking members, not even mentioning RP. I don't understand why this cannot get a chance then.

Ok, originally, I like the purpose of the CoE.... But this, no offense, seems like a load of nonsense. You have a lengthy explanation detailing a lot of things which is great but ultimately pointless. It seems you are saying a lot without saying anything at all. It panders to pointless RP with no real purpose to the realm. Say if you were to legitimize and study the night system and become authorities and push and fight for it to be fully implemented like the original CoE was aiming for then yes, I see a point. But in so far as to what is actually here, it is all just a bunch of RP for the sake of RP and pandering positions for the sake of ego.

- An Alliance for the sake of just role playing for the sake of role playing with no basis is pointless.
- You need a real purpose, IE the night system.
- Have one focus not multiple IE a military for the sake of a military aspect. One focus is what is needed there are other alliances for that.
- Just because it was like this in the past does not make it good, it died in the past for a reason.

This may seem harsh but ultimately less is more.

I have written it, as promised and I received no objections to posting it for public viewing. I decided to post it in a new topic, for the sake of clarity. I hope it's readable - I wrote it in a google document and formatted it nicely, but the forum might break some of the formatting.

Constructive criticism is welcome. It may not be perfect and there may be issues that escaped my mind or that I did not phrase properly, so please suggest improvement (how and where to do it), if you believe it is necessary.

Also, I will update this first post with a list of people currently interested in committing themselves to this journey of bringing the CoE back.

Player List:
Aeoshattr
Powle
Darry Dabby
StrongWilledLegna
Ciphla

Who am I?

I am Aeoshattr, former Knight of the Full Moon. CoE was the first alliance to open its arms to me. I have learned much from it and I have loved it, yet due to a temporary divergence in opinions, I took the decision to leave, long ago. Nevertheless, my heart remained with the Eclipse for a long time. I have been wandering around searching for another home since, yet I am now fully devoted to Loreroot and to bringing it back to its former glory - which, in my view, involves restoring the CoE. I have been a citizen of Loreroot, but I have also been a member of the Shattered Illusions and of the Knights of the Bell for a short period of time in the past.
I have decided to begin this journey as I believe that I can serve Loreroot as a whole better by doing this; as a citizen of Loreroot, it is my duty to ensure I serve the Land as well as I can.

Why revive CoE?

Loreroot has been reduced to the Guardians and the Woodcutters. While there is more than enough space to accommodate newcomers in these alliances, it still leaves a gaping space open which must be filled in order to restore the Root to its former glory. The Root will not be complete if part of its heart is torn away from it, no matter how many nourish and tend to it. The Eclipse will open new possible roles for the people of Loreroot and those that wish to join it - thus providing us with the room to grow in variety not only in numbers.

The alliance was, indeed, more than just a branch of the Root that stretched out, beyond the forest. Its purpose was both to guide the growth of the Root under the light of the Moon, defend the land, retrieve valuable information from lands far away and even delivering retribution when necessary. The Knighthood and Priesthood were valued halves of this Alliance which I wish to preserve, as their complementary relationship proved successful in the past.
Furthermore, I believe that the community as a whole (I am referring to all players in MD) could benefit from the presence of this alliance. I hope that the sermons and the ceremonies that will be held will inspire others and provide insight to those that attend them; pilgrimages will provide players with goals and help them shape their roles. I believe the community needs something to bring it together, even if just for a few hours at a time, something to keep it going and provide people with an opportunity to listen, talk and think and - who knows - maybe spawn new plot lines that will drive the Adventure Log forwards and help other players advance their roles and wishes.
Do we need the CoE? Yes, I dare speak for Loreroot, we do. Our Guardians are strong and the Woodcutters are meticulous. The Forest is defended and tended to, yet there is a sense of guidance that seems to elude my perception for the moment. The Root needs to know that the Moon has not abandoned it, so that it may grow under its cold, gentle light as well as under the strong, warm light of the Sun. The Forest is incomplete without the Eclipse and thus it will not flourish as it once did without the Eclipse.
As I stated, it is my wish to see Loreroot restored to its former glory and I cannot see this done without the CoE. Therefore, I am willing to take this burden onto myself, in an attempt to prove that I am worthy of bringing back and leading this once beautiful alliance.

tl;dr: A set of roles cannot be fulfilled without the CoE. The Guardians of the Root are military by default and the Woodcutters are harvesters. It's not stopping people within them from researching or plotting or pushing forwards RP, but the CoE would be vastly more dedicated to this and more suitable, avoiding the creation of "mottled" alliances.

What will the purpose of CoE be?

Its purpose will retain most of its past goals. The scope of the Cloister shall be to worship the Moon, the Sun and the Stars, share our wisdom with whoever is willing to listen, provide guidance and blessing in dire times as well as in times of joy. There will be ceremonies to be held, pilgrimages to be taken, offerings to be given (which I will detail in a “Book of Rites” that has yet to be compiled from old sermons and new ones).
Overall, I am doing this to bring out the Lore of Loreroot to its people and those outside, which I do not see being done currently and, in my view, would be an enriching experience for everyone.

tl;dr: Heavy focus on Roleplay that involves many players (gatherings, pilgrimages, etc) and that hopefully will bring life back to the community, but also on research of Loreroot and hopefully gathering enough influence and resources to push forwards implementation of new features in MD.

What will change? How, why?

Following suggestions, I have decided to remove the Knighthood (to avoid unnecessary mottling of the alliance and creating redundancy), except for a few select spots in the alliance. The CoE will be a roleplay-research alliance with very little, if any, military involvement. We leave the defense of the land in the hands of the Guardians and will assist with our power in times of need, but our goals are not military by default.
The Clergy of the CoE will be referred to as the Cloister.
I have changed the number and frequency of ceremonies to be held; ceremonies held by the Eclipse are not mundane events and should not be considered as such (thus their quality must step up a notch) and hopefully this will help draw more people to attend them and make them have a greater impact upon those that attend. The ceremonies will be rarer, in order to enable people to plan so that they can attend and to allow more time for their preparation. I believe this is more important at the moment.
The changes regarding the Knighthood are mainly concerned with a personal opinion that I hold. The land of Loreroot is not a spiteful, expansive land. We will be adamant about guarding our boundaries, but should not seek to actively expand them. Thus I deemed the need for a powerful offensive force unnecessary and removed the Knighthood.

The ranks of the CoE

Cloister
Seer (1): the leader of the Cloister as a whole, finding balance between the Moon and the Sun. The Seer must provide guidance to the Cloister and counselling to the Prior, as well as to Loreroot to an extent. A Seer is revealed to the Eclipse rather than chosen by its people.
Sun Dancer: priest(ess) which hears the voice of the Sun, feels its warmth and vigour. Their souls must match the youth of the Sun and their actions must reflect this. (Regarding game mechanics only, you will be expected to aid lorerootians to gain heat.)
Moon Chanter: priest(ess) which hears the voice of the Moon, matching its calm and cold nature. Though empathic like the rest, the Moon Chanters are the best known as the secret keepers of the Eclipse. (Regarding game mechanics only, you will be expected to aid lorerootians to lose heat)
Silent (1): The Silent is the right hand of the Prior, involving in affairs that the Prior would otherwise be unable to attend himself. Thus the Silent is only held responsible for his/her actions directly to the Prior.
Prior (1): The Prior is the leader of the Eclipse, revealing his/her will only to the people of Loreroot. He/she plays a balancing act between gazing into the darkness and basking in the light, communing with the Cloister and with the Covenant as well as with the other people of Loreroot. The Prior is elected from the Eclipse by the existing Omen and Seer, but also by the two Consuls.
The numbers in brackets represent the number of available positions for the respective rank. I will update it accordingly (I do not remember the maximum number of members for CoE)

The Code of the Cloister
Empathy – a priest(ess) must empathise even with the enemy and guide the Eclipse accordingly.
Secrecy – a priest(ess) must never give away the secrets of the Root outside the Forest. What is deemed secret shall be made known to the Cloister by the Seer and the Prior, or even the Consuls of Loreroot.
Counsel – a priest(ess) must share his/her advice to those who come to seek it and help guide them accordingly.
Liturgy – a priest(ess) must conduct the rituals of the Cloister as mentioned within the ritual, regardless of whom is attending or any other needs.

The Seer
The Moon and the Sun have revealed themselves to you. None are worthy of judging or deeming what your duty is, which is why you must let the Moon and the Sun guide you down the right path, for your word weighs heavily in the Eclipse.
Your presence is required for special ceremonies during Solstices and Equinoxes.
The overruling duty of the Seer, however, is to initiate the other members of the Cloister and supervise them throughout their journey.

The Sun Dancers
You bring warmth and light to the Forest, radiating youth and joy. You must dance for us in times of sorrow and need, but dance even more in times of happiness. Spring and Summer fall under your wings and it is your duty to perform ceremonies to praise the Sun and what it brings to the Forest. (Once per week during the mentioned seasons and every Full Moon in the rest of the time)
Empathy is your overruling duty.

The Moon Chanters
Your dim, soothing light ensures that the Forest and its inhabitants are guided down the right path. Your songs keep the forest and its inhabitants safe during the long night – you are needed in times of pain, to keep the Children of the Eclipse bound together and keep hope lit in their hearts. Fall and Winter are under your spell, thus it is your duty to praise them and the Moon. (Once per week during the mentioned seasons and every New Moon in the rest of the time)
Secrecy is your overruling duty.

The Code of the Prior
Balance – a Prior must show balance between the two halves of the Eclipse: maintaining equilibrium between the Sun and the Moon, between Light and Darkness, between the Covenant and the Cloister.
Diplomacy – a Prior must be diplomatic, as his/her voice weighs in the affairs of Loreroot and in external affairs as well.
Devotion – a Prior must be devoted to Loreroot and he/she cannot decide to take action against his/her own land, unless it is demonstrated that it is for the good of the Land.
Stoicism – a Prior’s decisions are irrevocable, thus he/she must stand by his/her word until his/her last breath. Furthermore, a Prior must acknowledge that his/her decision weighs heavily and thus not give his/her judgement lightly.

The Prior
The Prior is the leader of the Eclipse; as the Eclipse’s main purpose is to serve the forest, the Prior is elected from the people of the Eclipse, but must have his/her role confirmed by the two Consuls of the Land, or the current leaders of the Land. Under special circumstances, the Prior may be elected without the blessing of the Consuls (such as there are no Consuls alive, etc), however, once the situation is remedied, his/her role must be confirmed by the leaders of the Land.
The Prior’s main purpose is dictated by his/her Code and, as he/she holds authority over the Eclipse, few are in the position to judge his/her decisions. Thus he/she must show a sense of Justice and Balance and, furthermore, any infringement of the Code must be dealt with by the Consuls and the Judges of Loreroot.
Within the Eclipse, the Prior’s purpose is to guide as he/she sees fit, but also to initiate and supervise the work of the Omen and of the Seer, who are directly subordinated to him/her. Regardless, the authority of the Prior can be questioned and disputed by the members of the Eclipse, with a rite that shall be mentioned in the Book of Rites.

The Silent
Your duty and loyalty lies with the Prior before anyone else – you carry out tasks that concern the fate of the Forest, beyond its boundaries. Like your mission, your shackles are long and loose, yet remember you are accountable to the Prior and to the Consuls, should you forget where your heart and soul truly lie.
Your Devotion must be unwavering.

Disciplinary actions (offense by CoE)
Should it be proven that one of the Eclipse has broken the Code, they shall be judged by the Omen or the Seer, then by the Prior, and finally by the Consuls, varying with the severity of their actions.
Minor offenses shall be judged by Seer. These include but are not limited to breaking one of the rules in the Code, except for Secrecy. This also refers to a first-time offense of the above-mentioned severity. These offenses shall be dealt with as deemed appropriate, though the offender will not be removed from the alliance.
Major offenses shall be judged by the Prior together with the Seer. These refer specifically to breaking Secrecy, however are not limited to it. This also refers to repeated breaches of the code, regardless of their severity. The punishment is usually the retirement of the offender’s badge, yet may be more or less severe.
Capital offenses shall be judged by the Prior together with the Consuls only. This refers mainly to Treason but is not limited to it. Murder or grave injury of any Lorerootian by a member of the Eclipse is considered treason, as well as revealing compromising information to the enemy, regardless of the current diplomatic status (even in times of peace). The Prior and the Consuls have right of life and death over a traitor and if their decision is to spare the offender, then the decision is final and the offender is banished from the lands for eternity.

The Silent constitute an exception as he/she is only held accountable for his/her actions directly to the Prior and only under extraordinary circumstances will he/she be brought to justice together with the Consuls or the Judges of Loreroot.

Alt accounts policy:
I am welcoming alts to join my cause, however I will be unyielding in regards to one issue: no meta-roleplay. You are expected to keep your alts 100% separate, no exceptions under any circumstances. Information that I share with one alt should not be shared with another alt or used by another character other than the one I shared it with. This includes everything, even if I just tell you what I had for breakfast! I know it must be difficult sometimes, but I will make no exceptions. This will be a role-play alliance (mainly), thus avoiding meta-roleplay is of the utmost importance. Breaching of this will result in a prompt boot to the butt and I reserve the right to kick people that breach this rule without notice.

EDIT: Added Ary's suggestion as mentioned in his post
EDIT: Updated, considering Granos' suggestions. Added some tl,dr in green text, to highlight some stuff. Hope I didn't miss anything

Not too long ago my friend Rhaegar dissapeared on a journey vaguely mentioning something about stone tablets, since his return he has been recluse in lore manor refusing to see anyone and barely talks I am curious to what he has discovered to make him this way, I found his journal discarded in the forest it seems a few pages are missing find them for me so I may know what has happened.

Also, it seems all of Rhaegars journal is coded so I will need help for this, otherwise I would try to gather them all myself...

The Gazebo of equilibrium would be a good place to start your search.

[The stone tablets, that’s the password for the clickables to start with you will be notified when that changes ]

1st and 2nd to complete this quest will be awarded a wishpoint

I have two Pimped Grassans chomping at my heels and I want to get rid of them before they infect me with their love of poodle shaped handbags any further...I mean...at all...ahem...anyway...yes so...here is the competition:

Post a sound clip (however you like, youtube (you could even add some sort of drawing/screen shot video with it...), direct upload...whatever) of you singing the 12 days of christmas song...but MD style. So, for example: on the first day of xmas bla bla bla a grassan in a dst...etc etc...Im hoping you get the idea. If you just post here and write the song out I will instantly disqualify you, I'm afraid it HAS to be you (and your friends if you like) singing. The worse the better.

You are allowed to work as a pair if you like for the two rewards, or even in groups but then you need to decide who does and who doesnt get rewarded.

Due to the spirit of Xmas, and of course our most generous creator aka Mr Del Mur, please see below for the current reward set up:

1st, 2nd and 3rd Places
Each person will receieve a wish point from me PLUS a choice of one of the following: 1 Reindrachorn, 1 Soulweaver, 1 Rare "Collectible" Creature (up to Mur to decide what). 1st place winner gets to choose first and so on and so forth.

Specials:

1 x Nutcracker (Best Lyrics)
1 x Pimped Grassan (Best screaming of 5 gold rings (or whatever you have adapted that as))
1 x Santa claus (Best Video submission)
1 x Pimped Grassan (The song most likely to make your ears bleed)

Now go forth and tune your guitars...or learn from your cats...

What is sanity? i mean in general, the insane person denys their insanity, and so does a sane person, if someone says they're insane it means that they aren't as it shows rational thought, yet it's also said there's a fine line between insanity and genius, and geniuses show rational thought. so what is it?

Mur: round 2

--------------------

.Ailith. (ID:80963)

What is the answer?

Mur: Its that place where we decide to stop the question (not necessarly its end). Questions have no end, just places where we pick as beeing the general accepted end. 2+2=4 only because we agree on a coordinate system, but it could be the same also 5 or 1 or so on..
round 2

--------------------

MRV (ID:103641)

does life (or human life, if you'd prefer to differentiate) have any value in itself? - why?
which, if any, consequences do you derive from that thought?

Mur: this question had two versions, the other vesion was personal and was replied by pm.
round 2

Lifeline (ID:102239)

what is death to u?
(a constant companion who keeps reminding u how precious ur time is, something that challenges u? or something to avoid and to fear, something that simly ends it? or perhaps even see death as the stripping away of everything u ARE not, as a chance to really awaken. or maybe something completely different?)

Mur: death is that end of the question that marks the border between serial and cyclic. Death is an answer in its nature, but not the answer we seek, its just the last answer that hppens after we collected all the answers we could. Death is a border that differentiates life from beeing a circle and life beeing a cycle. The one alive is life itself not each individual. THe speecies survives , its individuals follow a cyclic pattern and have to die and born to fullfill the cyclicity principle of the bigger "organism" thats life itself. Life never dies.

Azrael Dark (ID:18615)

If everything in the universe is made of atoms, and people are made of atoms, and atoms behave probabilistically, is there truly such thing as free will?

Mur:
free willl is a concept that has meaning only between two complexity planes or more. You can have free will inside the decision scheme of a system but this will not change the general direction of the system (the higher complexity plane). See random numbers for example, output a generated list of random numbers, why is it that you never get for example "999999999999999999999999" in a row, and why is it that the overall analysed numbers will have an almost equal distribution of each number from 0-9? They are random inside their own complexity level , but seen from above their "free will" is not relevant to anything.

Knowing you do not believe in god, do you think there is an absolute morality?

Regardless of having absolute or relative morality, is getting caught the only sin?

Hypothetically speaking; if you said yes to the 2nd question, does that mean you have no conscience? Does that imply you are not fully human?

Mur:

"knowing i do not believe in god" let me enlighten you a bit:
my understanding of what god is (not who) made me decide that what most people agree on is not what i agree on so when someone asks me if i believe in god i must say no because what i believe in has nothing to do with thei image of what god is. Its not about religion its about self discovery. To understand god you must understand he does not exist. That sounds blsfamous, but for me god is an answer to a question that should never be answer in oder to fully understand it and without understanding the question fully any answer is false, anything you name that that its at the end of the question its wrong because its named. DO you think its a concidence both islam and christianity give 1000 names to God and Allah? Because one would be false, the less you name the more accurate you are.

there is absolute morality because we as beeings are very much alike at the base. Moral guidelines have a purpose that affect the species not the indiidual. Its an art to combine personal interes and species survival. Life is interested in evolution not survival and for that animals have well established instincts and way of life, our way of life as humans is called or guided by moral.

----------------------

Liberty (ID:83289)

what is liberty, peace and justice? are those 3 terms together as a total freedom? and then what is total freedom? is it something to let/allow us achieve anything? and then why to achieve something? at one point we pass out from this world, so why we want to achieve things, why we want to leave something for others that will come after we die?

Mur: round2

*Princ Rhaegar* (ID:62639)

if God is perfect being, allpowerful why he makes mistakes?
according to bible (i am atheist btw) why he created life? why wants people to worship him? cause he's egoistic maniac?

does God support ThE Bunny empire?

Mur: what god, should we start and offend any religion by claiming one or the other god is the most powerful one? Should we consider all are right and then gods are just obsessed beeings playing around with humans? Or should we ignore thousands of years of polytheism and think one or two RECENT religions are the right ones? ..So what god is that? I am not even starting to explain my view on god and most beleivers get stuck in basic questions.

And yes, i am sure that god supports the Bunny empire, but then we go to first issue again )

------------

.Metal Bunny. (ID:11799)

What is happiness?

Mur: Try to see life as a bigger organism that is composed by all the individual living beeings. Happiness is same as pleasure, the the indication that we do what life wants us to do. We get wealthy or in love, means we perpetuate the species, means "life" is happy. Problem comes when humans cheat life to get pleasure for destructive things, thats the question, but you asked something else.

Why are wars so profitable? with the loss of life, ammunition, and other gear it would be counter-productive.

Mur: just like you said, because of consumption. What is consumption? one part gaining losses and one part counterbalancing by getting profit. In war those that fight are one part , those that supply weapons and goods are the other part, they get the profit. Expenses means money, money menas debt, debt is the only true value that big people controll.

There are 2 situations but the question is the same: What will you choose?

1) To survive you need to break one of your most treasured principle (and I mean moral principle) - the supreme principle. On the other hand if you break it everybody around you will see you as a criminal. What will you do? Break the principle and survive or die believing in your principle?

And to complicate things a bit:

2) In order that the most important person in your life(child/wife/mother/father/husband etc) to survive ...again...you need to break your supreme principle. If you break it you die and that person is seen like a criminal. What will you choose?

Mur's answer:

A subjective opinion:
It's a matter of survival. If you consider yourself more important than the rest you will do everything to survive. If you see your life as a way to perpetuate yourself (you see the family as more important than you are) and also if you think that you will die sooner than they will then they should live.
Selfishness is subjective and the principle you were talking about is more or less strong in every human being and it is influenced by religion, culture, intensity of personal feelings etc but in the end I still think it's a clear survival issue...same as love is something beautiful but necessary only for the survival of the specie.

As we know everything has two sides.
If you look at a door, you know there is another side.
If you look at your computer, it has another side correct?

So I ask you this question....
Where is the end of space, the universe type?
and if there is an end..........what is on the other side?
and if it does have something on the other side, then does it really end?

Mur:

The universe sides are infinity and nothingness.
THats why its gets apparently inifinite if you walk towards the edges, space dilates untill it gets to nothing and therefore you will alter the perception of space, speed and time and walk forever, because you can not touch nothingness...its not like void. (see my lecture about space and time) Infinity and nothingness are both concepts that are not native to our mind and we all understand just a part of them fully.

Why are dragons known to every culture around the world yet are 'mythical beasts' ?

Mur:

Each creature has a so called Energy print. Some energy prints that manage to be stable, cause manifestations in matter and are in the animals around us. But energy prints are actualy sort of "conclusions" when energy groups together , and some prints are too complex to be manifestated into matter beeings, because of that they are not, but humans can still get in touch with them, see them, or even become them if trained properly (see asia) . Dragons, as well as many other, are such creatures. We feel and know they are there, we talk and write about them, yet none sees them, because we do not look in the right direction.

we live, then at one moment we die, why do we have to die, whats purpose of death and what after we die?

Mur:

Living beeings are self containing mini universes, the principle ballances within us is perfect or tends to be. I believe we are manifestation of information fields that by nature seek to adapt to the principle ballance of the universe we live in. Life and death are the ballance between syntropy and entropy in our mini universe that we mirror. Based on this theory, cyclicity as well as other principles should be "satisfied" so it could be an explanation why life is cyclic. All the things we do , from filling our neurons with info to the gene that cause death (yup) is programmed by nature to fulfill and keep the principles stable. If one principle goes wrong the entire ballance is lost and the information fields causing all this can not manifest themselves anymore.
This is just a theory, suited to fit with religious beliefs of many cultures as well with my own researches on the matter in cause. It could be tottaly wrong.

Is the human race essentially good, or evil? What makes us good, or evil? What is Good? What is evil? How did we come to a conclusion that these are a way of behaving?

Mur:

only a third observer can observe the line of good or evil and understand the situation, not someone "inside" the issue bad/good. In humanity situation, i believe the observer is the world around us, what supports life and what brought us in the first place to existance. Considering that our impact on the nature around us, the earth and the rest of the life on earth is not at all good, i consider humanity overall can be considered BAD. We are the only animal to kill for pleasure, thats a luxury that no living beeing affords. We can, but chose not to do things to keep the ballance , we can but chose to be evil, or good, but over all i think the results of humanity over the nature, and i do not talk of ecosystem only, is i essance bad. animals are not good or evil, they are neutral, they do not chose to be evil, they do not chose to be good. We are tehnicaly capable to do better yet we dont, and its not about survival also. thats my personal opinion, and i wait for arguments against, if you think i am wrong.

if at beginning there was nothing, how from nothing was created something? time actually doesn't have a beginning?

Mur:

Things are limited or unlimed only when you are inside them. Looking at the universe wont make any sense and such questions will allways remain unanswered. Try to understand how both infinity and nothingness can be one yet still different and you will see what experience are just effects. I consider the universe as something spreading, also in a physical sense, from "everything" to "nothing". The concept of infinity and nothing are usuay wrong in our head because we compare them with things we know and they cand actualy be infinite or non existant. Look for example at a fractal <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal</a> and understand how an infinite shape can actualy have a finite form at the same time. Someone "inside" that shape, walking on its edge, will never understand that there is a shape or that the shape is defineable by a very short formula (sample formula to generate endless fractal shape: z = z^2 + c THATS ALL!!). I strongly believe infinity is achievable within a limited space , if compared from one complexity level to an other.

and why life was created? with what purpose?

Mur:

I belive life appeared as a manifestation of something that is allready there, probably caused by the planet itself, probably by the universe itself (NO i do not believe in god created the world!!)
Life can be sensed and can exist also without matter, and to keep its stability it requires matter. Living beeings manifest a mirror of the universe in their principles ballance, i consider them like mini universes from a principle point of view. They could be the counterballance for the excessive entropy in the universe, sort of self ballancing of the universe by creating syntropy. Syntropy happens in the core of stars and in life, no wonder stars and living things are so connected.

Selected for public debate, but not for round 2 because of the popularity of the question.

the Question..... is not............. do you believe in God? this i know the answer too already... i have seen you actknowledge God many times... so this automatically tells me the answer... now for the question. Genesis 1st book of the bible chapter 1, 2, 3, chapter 4 verse 16 and 17 the question: in the beginning god created heaven and earth. then he created adam and eve, they had children cain and abel.... Genesis verse 16 : then Cain went out from the presents of the Lord and dewlt in the land of Nod on the east of eden, Genesis Verse 17: And Cain knew his wife, and she concieved and bore Enoch....... the question is where Cains come wife come from? at this point there was only Adam and Eve and thier children..... Where did Cains wife come from?

Mur:

It came from the absurdity in the logic used to create those stories. People can't simply understand complex things, they need examples, mostly from their lives. The church needed a full monopoly over the creation of man and the universe and man needed an answe above all ..who care if it makes sense? it did for over thousand years.
i can't believe in those child stories, but because its a book full of wisdom, and absurdities (or missunderstand sacrated knowledge how some prefer to call them, oops, just ignore my opinion on religion....) i think its awsome for public debate.

Mur

the process of observing is in its fact an intrusive process, you "receive" something in order to observe, be it light from the objects, sounds, movement, etc .. in case of a single particle , it has nothing to offer, the observation process will interfere with its nature and affect the observed particle my opinion

Lightsage RE:Yes but in this case 2 electrons where shot each in a different direction, only 1 was observed but the other was effected by this as well even through it was meters away.

Nava reacted to Muratus del Mur in End of festival - Thin line between PWR and RPC
First of all, the current festival was a chaos, but a very creative and useful chaos

A lot of players got rewarded and some rpc's went very upset because of that and some regular players went upset that they did not get something too.

I will not comment now why and how rewards were decided.

There is a very very thin line between RPC (role playing character) and PWR (player with role).
Some pwr have more abilities than some rpc's but they do not have the required age, or proven stability in game to become RPC yet. Some rpc were made rpc to see if they can do good, but they are under close surveillance, and other players were made PWR even if they should be RPC, but with a good reason.

The main difference between rpc and pwr is the access to special logs. Only players that stayed long enough in the game can gain access to edit those logs.

This whole pwr/rpc separation is new, i still don't have a very clear image on how to separate things well or if the current method is the right one to use. Its very likely that i will reorganize rpc/pwr roles soon. Initial reason for separating rpc/pwr was the access to some spells that could be easyly abused, BUT it seems that even the oldest rpc's abused them too, so , the current separation is only based on who has access to the logs and apears on the rpc list and who does not. I am giving spells based on how well that person can use them for their role, not based on loyalty or active days...not anymore. There are several ancient rpc's that are performing worse than some new pwr, and that situation will be changed soon.

for now, my intention is to make all players with spells and quests as RPC, and keep as pwr all those that have only tag/description but no spells or quest, and also clean the current rpc list a bit. There will be a minimum age for rpc status and a limited number of active rpc's...that means pwr will take turns in rpc role from time to time.....dont ask me more, i have no clue right now myself...its just a thought...there are still a lot of things to figure out after this festival.

The current contest proved to be an excelent way to see what players are realy capable of regarding role play. A lot of things will change and improve based on the things i learned from this contest and the festival. A new rpc admin interface is in work based on the things i learned from the festival, and much more will come during Alpha 7.

Those of you that did not get rewarded during this festival dont give up. Keep your contest info on your page, and improve it.

There are about 15 more players i want to reward but i dont think it will be possible untill tomorow (sunday) when the festival ends. Prizes for those players will continue to come after the festival but at a lower rate during the next month.

A lot of new spells were created during the festival, these spells will be given in next festival also to other players that should get a similar abilities, they are unique just for now.

After the festival there will be a cooldown period, i will be attending things i missed to do in this period, and you will probably go wild with your roles, or doing new quests

Lets say i usualy have 150% ideas from the 100% max work capacity...well aftre this festival i have like 500% out of 100% i can do ...so i have to cool down also a bit to put my thoughts in order and see with what to start to make things better. My main target will be to make player promotion to pwr and rpc much more fluid. I also have new ideas of ingame quests/puzzles based on a new magic system i finished in this period and many many many more...but i have to cool down and start bit by bit, after a short break of course.

The Artisans contest is also over, rewards/winners have been decided but it will take a while to dispatch them , after i finish with the festival first.

Puzzle contest is complicated to decide. I've seen amazing quests, some very dificult some very easy but fun. It would be unfair to reward just the most complciated ones and ignore the easy and fun ones. Thats why i will delay, or even cancel, this contest for now. Eah player with a nice quest was reviewd for a rpc/pwr role anyway. Decision is not final on this, maybe i change my mind and pick a winner for this contest too...even if its so dificult to decide .

well thats it ... tomorow things will get WILD..last day of the festival!
Thank you all for participating

Nava reacted to Logan Marquis in The Inner Sun - Bootes Quest Part Tres
Bootes travels the path before him as quickly as he can. He keeps his head down, but his eyes forward. The wind is harsh and whips up clouds of dust and dirt to
sting his face. Bootes pauses for a moment to look around Necrovion, a place which lacks the spark of life, a place that is bleak and desolate. He wonders aloud, "Did this place Ever have Life...?" and then continues on.

To distract himself from his surroundings, Bootes thinks on the documents he has discovered and wonders how many more are left to find. His mind works over the
connections he has made, what they mean. Suddenly he stops, hearing a terrifying scream nearby. He imagines someone whose very soul is being torn apart and
doubles his pace, "The Sooner I get This Done..." he thinks to himself.

Bootes is thankful that the journey to the House of Tainted Times is short. Broken and decaying, the House looms in the distance, surrounded by desiccated trees and barren rocks. The wind dies down as Bootes approaches the House and hesitates before entering the darkness inside.

The interior of the House is dark and shadowy, much like the land in which it sits. Light filters through the broken windows and through a thick haze casting shafts of half-light which barely makes its way to the floor. The air is thick and reeks of something pungent and acrid. Bootes covers his nose and mouth at the bitter taste and smell while looking around the entranceway. He is uncomfortable with this House, this land, this place which is mostly silent and entirely dead.

There are several doors here, all closed. Bootes opens a few of them and peers down the darkened hallways but cannot discern anything much further than the length of his arm. Bootes stands there a moment and laughs slightly before mumbling to himself, "No map This time?" He opens one door and is assaulted again
by a pungent stench. Thinking that one way is as good as any other, Bootes heads down this hallway.

His footsteps do not echo here, but seem to be absorbed by the wood, perhaps by the darkness. He has not travelled too far before he thinks he hears a voice. He
stops, holds his breath, and strains to listen. He thinks there is something familiar about the voice but is not certain.

He moves again, heading towards the way he thinks he heard the voice and comes upon a large chamber filled with shelves and books. He looks around the room and sees something glowing. When he gets closer, Bootes sees the remains of a fire, the embers still glowing. Bootes is unsure about what he heard and decides
against calling out. He does, however, take the opportunity to look around the chamber.

At first, nothing seems especially interesting and Bootes walks past the fire again. As he does, he looks up at a book shelf that has been cleared of books, probably to fuel the fire. Bootes looks over the bookshelf again, thinking that it somehow seems out of place. While searching, he and notices some writing on the wall behind the bookshelf. He pushes the bookshelf aside and looks the wall over.

The wall has something written over the top of it with indentations, seemingly at random, taking up a large section at the bottom. On the left side are several + shaped slots. Bootes ponders for a moment and then recalls the object he found back in the Sage's Keep. He fishes the object out of his pack and says, "I guess it
Is a Key."

Now is your chance to help Bootes solve this puzzle!

The candle in Bootes' hand flickers occasionally as he walks down the hallways of Sage's Keep. His footsteps echo far into the consuming silence of the keep, the
only other sound he hears besides his breathing and the pounding of his heart. The map shows him many corridors and rooms, which seem to go on forever, just
like the endless shelves of books. "This Place looks Smaller from the Outside..."

Bootes searches each room, each shelf, hoping to find something, any clue as to where the document he seeks might be. Each hallway looks similar to the last.
Every room looks like every other. As Bootes explores further, he finds nothing, while the silence and lack of progress start to erode his confidence. At one point,
he even starts to think that someone has played a cruel joke on him, that he has been placed into an illusion from which he cannot find escape.

Before he finally snaps, Bootes sits down at a desk to concentrate and center himself. He looks at the faded map again and sighs deeply. "Everything Looks the
Same here! How am I supposed to Find...?" he trails off for a moment, his gaze drawn to a point on the map. Though he is unsure, he thinks he sees something on
the map that looks like a faint glowing. Bootes brings the candle over for a closer look. He sees a faint mark that somehow seems familiar, even though he cannot
make it out fully. With a renewed determination, Bootes begins to make his way towards the study the mark seems to indicate.

He makes his way through the hallways of the Keep. His echoing steps blur into one sound, his pace increasing with each stride. He smiles wide as he reaches
the room which has now become clearly indicated on the map, marked with the symbol of the Inner Sun.

The astro-researcher begins his search of the vast room, rummaging through the countless shelves and books that have been stacked here for untold ages. Eventually, in the corner of the huge study, he finds a desk tucked away into a forgotten corner. He finds scrolls and a wooden box, all of which bear the mark of the Inner Sun.

Bootes is elated to finally find something, but he is drawn mostly to the box. When he picks it up, it rattles softly. "Hmm? What is This?"

well...the wizard is not waiting for the sunrise ....or it might be from the picture there, but the question was more deep than that of course. Its also not waiting for the game to begin, i was thinking that this option was to obvios for you to tell but it seems more of you thought of it. Thank you for the creative and funny answers also
The answer is
HE IS WAITING FOR YOU, the player
simple answer like always
the wizard is the end somehow ... it might be a master of some sort that you will reach at the end , or that master might be you actualy. The wizard is waiting for you to reach him so to speak, to become him. The wizard is you at the end. You , the player, are at the place where the sun should rise (in the picture) and YOUR rising not the suns is what the wizard is waiting for. i hope i didnt get you more confused.

The wizard is awaiting for a hero to rise (Us players) and beat the rising evil which is revealing itself upon us
nostor
maybe he's the god of this game and is looking down on what he has created till nowlooking forward at the long road head of him
Lucren
hmm... I would say hes waiting for The world to grow he stands on the edge of the world that has been created waiting for the rest to rise up.

i do believe the Wizard to be none other than the Creator himself in disguise, looking down over us as our journey's begin

Im forming a research group around Drachorns
this group will be a semi-open research effort
that means you will get acces to all information this group has gathered, but only after you have provided a piece of research yourself.

As I mention in"the tiny men" and as is very evident here, there is no way that drach is escaping the cave unless it learns to keep its head down.  Even in the passage you quote all it does is bang its head on the ceiling.

that is implying that the drachorns we use are the same ones as the dragons they kept, or even the same concept. they could be an entirely different concept and theres also no way to say that "one" equals "they"

the key here is that there is a different between a dragon, and a drachorn, you say you want to return your kin to the glorious creatures they could be, if you are truely their kin, are you an extension of someones else's consciousness, brought into reality by someone else's will and therefore not your own being in its entirety (speaking IC, because obviously draconas will be an extension of your RL self), draconas has his own will, and was born with such, he wasnt born as an extension of another consciousness.
how do you know that drachorns have a mind of their own? dragons i will say yes, they do, but drachs are not the same as dragons. You say that you will look after them in your inventory, and will not fight with them, this means the only interaction they are going to get is you looking at them, you are denying them their only interactions by denying them fighting. what if they want to fight? what if being left in someones creature inventory causes them distress because they feel ignored and have no emotional release or way to channel their emotions into something? What makes drachorns so different than any other creature that is an extension of its creator, when fundamentally they are the same?
You want to stop them being forced to fight, so by this you want to free them from being forced to do things, well is it really freedom if you then force them to do nothing?

i believe such a topic is uncalled for, and also my reputation is highly overrated. Its not me that keeps MD alive, md is alive because of others that are far more involved than i am, and you should focus your attention towards them, if you want to thank someone for md growth. My merit ended a couple of years ago.

The only thing i consider myself good for in md, is my intuition regarding md chain of events/evolution, but thats something almost nobody respects or believes in anymore, so, i really don;t need such topic that simply repeats how awesome i am that i created md and bla bla.

Thank you
