  1. I like this idea, but I wonder how the fee could be paid if no citizen is online, for example

Is there a way we could introduce debt items to MD? ie. You try to move, agree to the fee, and thus are given an item worth -1 silver somehow?

To prevent alternate-vessels from partaking in this contest, one cannot participate if one's player number were 259394, or greater.
Alteration or revocation of a post will be treated with disqualification from this contest; however, if two people do manage to take of the flag at once, the last to take of it shall be the one in possession, until it is captured anew.

I thought that (other than certain rare cases like Tarquinus and Keith Moon) alts weren't permitted on the forum?

I, Pipstickz, have taken the flag from Aia

  3. Howdy MD! As it's the anniversary, a time of celebration and commemoration, I'd like for us to take a moment to reflect on things that may have been forgotten by some folks. The premise is simple: I want you to do some research on Land Weapons and send in your findings. For transparency's sake, I plan to make all entries public after judging is complete, but if requested I'm willing to redact parts. So without further ado, here are your research prompts, use as many or few as you like, but I do expect some details from each prompt to be in your submission, even if you don't directly address the question. However, the final two are mandatory.

    What is a Land Weapon?

    How many are there?

    Where are they?

    What do they do?

    How are they activated?

    How are they powered?

    How are they controlled?

What would happen to it if a Land were to lose its Weapon, or access thereto?

For each Land that contains a Land Weapon, imagine you are a citizen with full control over the Weapon and explain how you'd use your Homeland's Weapon to help your fellow citizens.

For each Land that contains a Land Weapon, imagine you are an infiltrator who has seized control of the Weapon and explain how you'd use it to disrupt your enemies.

Some might say this is a cheap data-mining attempt, so to offset said cheapness I'll be personally sponsoring a Tainted Angien, to be rewarded if:

    1. There are at least 10 entries, each with at least one interesting idea in them. Doesn't have to be original, but it must to be interesting.

    2. The judge(s) determine that one entry stands above the rest as particularly insightful, well-researched or creative.

So now it's an expensive data-mining attempt! Take that imaginary critics!

I'll also be sponsoring a pack of Molima-related resources, which includes 5 glue, a skull and some garbage, maybe a couple others (I need to check what he costs again to be sure, will do so once I return to the mainland), as well as one History of the Elucubration Creature item (I promised this item to Zleip as a sponsorship for one of his quests in the past, but that was years ago, so I'm invoking the statute of limitations. Sorry Z!). These rewards will go to either first and second or second and third, or may be distributed differently, pursuant to possible further sponsorships.

NOTE: It seems the History of the Elu items aren't working...I hope they're fixable! I'll make a bug report.

Speaking of which, other sponsorships are, of course, very welcome!

Entries are to be forum PM'd to me. They can be as long or as short as you like and may include images if you wish to do so.

Anybody willing to help judge would be greatly appreciated. The only prerequisite being that you have what you consider a good baseline knowledge about Land Weapons. I'd like to specifically request Chew or Mur to help judge this (and especially to help redact the published answers!) if either of you have the time/energy, but if not we shall make due! If nobody wants to be a judge, I'll instead write up some criteria and have each participant mark other entries, and average that score with my judgement on the same criteria.

    Get crackin', folks!

I have signed up with no clue about what creatures I have that are untokened.

Not saying that will change your, or other peoples minds, just saying.

By no means do I wish to discourage participation, my MD time is rather limited and I'm trying to plan carefully. If others are on the fence, I wholeheartedly say give it a shot, do it for me! I'd personally just rather not gamble with my very participation:

it would be a gamble to sign up with only tokened creats, but i would advise against it

  5. I figure it'd be best to start a new topic for this. Anyone else wish they could participate in more tournaments, but "the rules" (heh, rules are for fools!) are holding you down? Let's brainstorm/discuss.

My first thought was using head control to annul stats and tokens for everybody participating for the duration of any given fight or tournament, would that work?

PS: In case it's unclear, you're free to run your quests however you like! Just want to put some ideas out.

some rounds might include tokens, others might not, it would be a pitty to lose a round on the matter of not having usable creatures

So you must be afraid of losing! (just kidding)

Sounds to be like I'm preemptively disqualified again.

  7. 7 hours ago, Sunfire said:

however a few rules will be the same for all rounds:

    • each round will be a statless competition, meaning no influence (0%) and no tokens, no combo, unless the round's rules state explicitly it is allowed

I feel like I ask this every time a combat tournament comes around, but I'm going to ask anyways. So, players with no untokened creatures aren't allowed to compete?

If all the Shades we can see congregate at the Stone of Twisted Souls, then i would be led to believe that they have a sort of Unity or Hive Mind... where they could definitely go off on their own and in separate ways they do not currently seem to do so, and id also be led to believe that wont change unless some great need arises. Its quite possible that they need something they obtain from the Stone of Twisted Souls and its general vicinity. They might be able to move around Necrovion if the necessity ever arose, but they seemingly cant leave Necrovion without falling apart into the separate parts that seem to be their building blocks.

I haven't set aside the time to properly read this topic yet, so pardon me if this has been addressed (or already disproven even!), but I'd just like to state a challenge to your seeming assumption that shades cannot move, by instead asserting that they can move freely in almost every land, but there's one they have a tougher time with. Though, if you're strictly talking about only the Shades at the stone and not Shades in general, then I'd probably agree with you that they can't move.

    Yes.

Thanks Chew! A few more specific questions if you have the time:

Player x and y were considered alts but are played by different people. Time passes and neither requests unalting. It's possible they'd be unalted regardless?

And what if y requests it but x does not, would x be notified if the request was granted?

And thanks for trying to help, Fang. I was more interested in the general answer, not the implied specific case that I wan- ...I mean, my friend wanted to know about... ;)

Global unalting from accidental proxy use
I have just coded in something so we can remove people who have accidentally become alts through inadvertent proxy use. I have ran this over one of the well known proxy browsers.

This has also involved rewriting the code so its ready for the PHP7 transfer so its in a much better state.

As usual I would like to remind everyone that fixing alt issues is a privilege and not a right. If anyone is still alted due to accidental proxy use please contact me.

Would anybody have been unalted without directly asking for it? Asking for a friend...

That was a joke, Pip, yiu took it the wring way. I'm glad you are taking my idea seriously, it's meant to be serious, but under the current circumstances i can't help but crack a few bad jokes.

Once again, itvwasn't meant to offend. Also, whether the theory is right or wrong, what's really important is how the angien egg floats.

It wasn't my intent to offend either, apologies if I did.

  12. So an angien can move itself anywhere it wants, but only in an egg

And only if it's not in my creature inventory

    That's your claim?

Well, you could say I'm heretical in that I'm the only one in this topic other than yourself so far to take your idea seriously. (with the possible exception of Chew >>)

  13. As the next anniversary approaches, I'd sure like to get the reward I won for this. The creature was delivered by Chew, but the tour still has yet to happen. I sent a PM to the group message between Blackshade, Chewett and I back in December and received no response. I did manage to track down Blackshade on one of his rare visits to the mainland, and he told me the lighthouse needed to be fixed first. As no lighthouse was mentioned in this topic, I'm a tad peeved.
